  • I find Grownups fun for what is it's target audience and rated it pretty high. But if you didn't like those films, you'll hate this one. The writing isn't as sharp, the gags and jokes are more raunchy and the cast, though fair actors in their best films, is not full of comedic professionals.

I thought the main games action section was well done but unfortunately none of the characters are that likeable nor relatable. In starring, direction and co-writing this film, Josh Duhamel may have stretched himself too thin in his directorial debut.

Okay to pass some time but not a film you will rewatch.

This is basically the movie "Grown-ups" with a more adult content, minus the families. It made me laugh a couple of times, but as a whole it was pretty predictable. Okay movie to waste your time, but could have been a lot better.

I saw "Buddy Games", starring Josh Duhamel-When in Rome, Win a Date With Tad Hamilton!; Dan Bakkedahl-The Goldbergs_tv, Veep_tv; Nick Swardson-The Ridiculous 6, Jack and Jill and Dax Shephard-Bless This Mess_tv, When in Rome. This movie reminded me of the Jack_Ass movies-You know, with the crude, juvenile humor and stunts being pulled, trying to out do each other-and there is nothing wrong with that, if you like those kinds of high jinks. Josh wrote, produced, directed and stars in the movie. Josh plays the leader of a group of 6 guys that have a competition of mental and physical challenges every year called the Buddy Games. But after one of the guys-Dan-gets hurt, everyone decides that it's time to quit playing. Five years later, Josh decides to get the gang back together and after several people don't want to participate, Josh offers a $150,000.00 jackpot to the winner. Nick and Dax are a couple of the other guys in the Buddy Games that could use the cash and there are several cameos-I remember seeing Jensen Ackles and Olivia Munn. Some of the games are funny but most are pretty juvenile. An example of one of the competitions: All 6 guys take a laxative in a night club. Then they have to get a girl to buy them a drink, dance with them and then get a kiss on the lips, all before the laxative kicks in. It's rated "R" for language, drug use, violence and sexual content-including nudity-and has a running time of 1 hour & 30 minutes. It's not one that I would buy on DVD but it would fine as a rental.
  • If you were hoping for a fun/funny movie akin to The Hangover or Tag (which it's obviously ripping off heavily), look somewhere else. I kept hoping for some redeeming quality somewhere in this movie. It doesn't exist. There is nothing remotely believable in this flick. The humor is forced and doesn't flow naturally and most of the friends seem to hate each other.

Reminded me of Tag, had a good cast, but just couldn't get it going to become something funny. Skip this movie and watch Tag instead.

What happened with American comedy.. I laughed more watching Thor 3 than this.. Quite boring and stupid movie.. No story, predictable, stupid plot twists, and ending.. wow, you couldn't think of more stupid way to finish the movie.. This is just a waste of money and time. Actually, they should pay you to watch this IQ degrading piece of "art"..

The story is just too juvenile to be a celebration of brotherhood. The jokes are not funny.
  • A bunch of middle-aged men reminisce about the times they had earlier in life. The "Buddy Games" were a concept they developed to have fun, win among friends and create memories. After a more serious incident they lost touch for a few years but reconvened to have a last competition.

The plot is not complex; old friends coming together to have fun again is not something we haven't seen before. But the quality acting with well-known actors allows for a fun time.

Seemed like someone watched Tag. then thought "wouldnt it be cool if we made a super unfunny rip-off?". nothing new, or clever. suspend all disbelief, and expectation of quality in any regard... and still give it a hard 'pass'.

I was hesitant to watch this movie because of the poor ratings but it really is a decent movie. Yes it is a little generic as far as the buddy movie goes but I enjoyed this much more than similar movies like Grown Ups which I couldn't make it through 15 minutes of and The Hangover which I could stand to watch once. Yes men do stupid things and torment each other but if you are a man and you're okay with being a man then you will probably enjoy watching this movie.

A group of guys are best friends who play their Buddy Games over the years. Shelly (Dan Bakkedahl) is the aggressive alpha male. Bender (Nick Swardson) does something which ends their games. It's 5 years later. Shelly's mother is scared for his mental health and asks Bobfather (Josh Duhamel) to restart the Buddy Games.

I don't like any of these people and that is its biggest problem for a comedy trying to be funny. I don't see Bakkedahl as this alpha male and certainly not without him being a jerk. I understand the comedic premise of making a chubby loser be the alpha of the group. It's not working. There are some attempts at gross out humor which could work if I cared about these guys. Maybe Duhamel should be playing Shelly and Bakkedahl could switch roles. The writing isn't good enough at any rate. It's not going to work even for the best comedians.
  • This may not be the hangover but it doesn't try to be more than it is. This is a fun movie to watch if you are in to some really raunchy comedy showing just how much fun six best friend idiots can have together!! Don't listen to all the negativity, anyone who gave it a bad review knew they were going to hate the movie before they started it. If you are into this type of humor, you won't be disappointed!
  • Okay so I will start this out by saying I'm one of those people that can pretty much love every movie. This movie is completely ridiculous but it was hilarious if you just appreciate the insanity of it all! It's like a lesser sequel of Tag.

I actually was hesitant about starting this, but decided to watch it because of James Roday. I loved him in Psych, so of course this has got to be good. Man, was I wrong.

Every scene ends with you saying "why is this scene in the movie?" until you realize there is no movie, just a bunch of bad scenes arranged in this order for some reason.
  • This was so bad. I watched the entire movie and it never got better. A poor, poor man's Hangover.
  • I honestly think this might be the worst movie I've ever seen. Which is a shame, because there are some good actors here! The script was terrible, and the director must have been asleep the entire time. I want some good to come from me watching it: I want to save you from making the same mistake.
  • I'm only giving this a two because there are a few funny moments but apart from that this is probably the worst film I've ever seen
  • This was funny! Yes, we've all seen it before. Why is that wrong? We saw the score under 5 on IMDB but we still chose to see it. I am glad we did. Some of the scenes made me laugh a lot. It turned out predictable, yes, but still funny. Some places lame and dumb, at all in all a good time watching it. Many faces I've seen before.

Sometimes these stars on IMDB don't always play out right. In my honest opinion, this is a 6.5 movie. I mean, let's loosen up a bit and get this stick out of our bong hole.
  • I can't write a full review, as I could only stomach 30 minutes of this movie before I shut it off. Not one laugh or anything close to it in the first half hour. I can't think of any reason to watch this movie, unless you are related to someone in the movie, and even then, you'll probably just be embarrassed for them.
  • Great casting, a few cheesy laughs, decent story, but nothing extraordinary. It's a decent "nothing better is on" Sunday popcorn flick.

    Warning: Spoilers
A group of impractical jokers have an annual contest known as the "Buddy Games." While tea bagging his friend Shelly (Dan Bakkedahl) gets shot by a paint ball in the soft spot and ends up losing them. For five years they part their ways and agree to a reunion where the antics start up again.

Strictly low brow humor. If I was more immature I may have enjoyed it.

    Guide: F-word. Sex. Male nudity.

Please ignore all of the negative reviews. It's definitely worth the watch. Great cast of characters which make this comedy a lot of fun to watch. Mindless, perverse comedy that will have you laughing more than once.
  • Nothing about the trailers or ads for this movie hid what it was. People upset that they got an immature movie about middle aged bros being middle aged bros had no business sitting down to watch it in the first place. Seriously, did you get lost? What were you expecting if not exactly what Duhamel and crew delivered?

Does it reinvent this particular wheel? Nope. So what? It does what it set out to do, and provides some silly immature fun.
  • The problem here isn't the cast, there are a few great guys. The problem here isn't the story either. I definitely don't mind watching a stupid and/or immature comedy. I love a good joke, even (especially?) a low brow one. But that's where the problem is. This movie just failed to make jokes. This movie had stupid people playing stupid games, but they never said or did anything to try to be funny. It's not that they tried jokes and they weren't funny, it's that they didn't make jokes. It was awfully strange, and painful. Oh man this movie is just so terrible. Only gained an extra star out of pity for the decent cast.

If you're in the movie like this, that's GREAT! Just pick a different one. Netflix has a thousand.
  • Seems like it's a comedy, but it wasn't funny and mostly boring. Script was extremely poor and the great array of actors were un-utilized. Sorry to all the actors who were involved. I know you can do beter, I've seen your movies and seen you do better.

    3/10

script: 1/10 Acting 5/10( mostly due to poor directing and script) Directing: 2/10 Camera: 3/10 Comedy: 2/10
