Hans Zimmer isn’t rushing to score another superhero movie any time soon. The 12-time Academy Award nominated composer previously said he “retired” from scoring superhero films in the wake of “Batman V. Superman,” and doubled down on his decision in a recent episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast.

“Look, I’ve done the trifecta. I’ve done Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and Wonder Woman,” Zimmer said. “I mean, what do you want me to do? Some of the minor characters? Probably yes.” When asked if Marvel had already approached him about working on one of their films, Zimmer confessed they had, and that he’d turned them down.

Connie Nielsen has joined the cast of the upcoming series “Robin Hood” at MGM+, Variety has learned exclusively.

The 10 episode series was greenlit in September 2024 and recently began production in Serbia. Nielsen will appear alongside previously announced cast members like leads Jack Patten, Lauren McQueen, and Sean Bean. Additional cast members include Lydia Peckham, Henry Rowley, Steven Waddington, Marcus Fraser, and Angus Castle-Doughty.

Even though Marvel has been at the forefront of the superhero movie craze, DC has produced some of the most remarkable superhero films to date. With iconic characters such as Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, and the Justice League, it’s no surprise that their films come with a hefty price tag.

In the wake of Alien: Romulus comes the FX/Hulu series “Alien: Earth” sometime next year, which is set to be the first ever television series set within the official Alien universe.

As part of a 2025 preview video from Disney+, we’ve got the first footage from “Alien: Earth” this morning, which gives us a brief sneak peek at the locations and characters.

One character says in voiceover, “This ship collected specimens from faraway moons… monsters.” The suggestion there is that a Xenomorph specimen has been brought back to Earth in the upcoming “Alien: Earth,” which will indeed be the franchise’s first installment set here on Earth. Universal will team up with The Lego Group to co-produce a trio of untitled live-action films based around the popular toys, with Jake Kasdan, Patty Jenkins and Joe Cornish all set to direct.

Kasdan, who directed Sony’s revival of “Jumanji,” will direct his Lego film from a script written by Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul. Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows wrote a previous draft of the script. Jill Wilfert and Ryan Christians from The Lego Group will produce alongside Kasdan and Melvin Mar, who will produce through their company Detective Agency.

Jenkins will direct from a script she co-wrote with “Wonder Woman 1984” writing partner Geoff Johns. She will also produce through Wicious Pictures alongside Wilfert and Christians.

Cornish, director of “The Kid Who Would Be King,” will write off a previous draft of the script by “Rick & Morty” writer Heather Anne Campbell, which was based on a treatment by Simon Rich.

The Lego Group has enlisted directors Jake Kasdan, Patty Jenkins and Joe Cornish to helm a trio of live-action movies for Universal Pictures.

Plot details of the three untitled movies are yet to be revealed, but the filmmakers behind each project have been announced. All three films will be produced by the Lego Group’s Jill Wilfert and Ryan Christians.

Kasdan will direct from a script written by Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul. The project is based on an original idea and previous draft by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows. Kasdan will also produce the film with Melvin Mar under their Detective Agency banner.

The Dceu had a very unique look as far as cinematic universe go. Zack Snyder managed to craft a great universe that managed to not only be as dark and gritty as DC is expected to be but also managed to excite audiences for what’s to come….until it didn’t.

Deadpool & Wolverine fans had hoped that November would be the month that the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman blockbuster would be coming to streaming on Disney+. While this seems a little overly hopeful considering the Marvel juggernaut only landed on VOD services at the beginning of October, and has only become available on physical media on October 22, Disneys recent reveal of which titles are coming to the streaming platform in the next month proved to be a disappointment to that select group.

Deadpool & Wolverine has been the shot in the arm that the Marvel Cinematic Universe really needed after a lacklustre couple of years, which culminated with the humiliation of The Marvels almost a year ago. The film became the second highest grossing movie of the year with a record-breaking $1.3 billion box office, and delivered some of the most impressive reviews of any Marvel project for quite some time.

While not every movie can be a financial hit, the biggest box office bombs of all time prove that some projects can take down careers, genres, and even studios. While movie studios do everything possible to ensure they take as few risks as possible, investing in a film is always a gamble. The common criticism that Hollywood only produces reboots, sequels, remakes, and spinoffs is not without justification. This claim comes from the fact that, for studios, an intellectual property with proven potential and a built-in fanbase will always be more appealing than an unknown, original prospect.

DC superhero movies have been struggling for a while, and ahead of the official DC Universe relaunch, movies like Joker: Folie a Deux appear to be adding to the pile of commercial failures, while other safer bets are ignored. While the Dceu was spiralling out of control almost from the moment it started, there were some big hits that came out of the struggling franchise. The first Aquaman passed the billion dollar mark, becoming the instant leader of the pack, and Wonder Woman followed close behind with an over $800 million box office (via The Numbers).

While looking back at the missteps of the franchise, stars such as Connie Nielsen, the woman who played Queen Hippolyta, have commented on the unusual choices made by the studios to simply scrap financially viable products, like a potential Wonder Woman 3, in favor of starting from scratch and potentially draining even more funds on failed attempts.

Despite critical and commercial success upon its debut in 2017, the Wonder Woman series starring Gal Gadot has quietly vanished from the DC Universe. Actress Connie Nielsen, who played Hippolyta in Patty Jenkins's feature adaptation of the classic comic book character, has since criticized Warner Bros.'s cancelation of the franchise, stating that she believes it was a crazy decision.

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ premiered last Friday to horrific critics and audience scores. The movie currently holds a 33% approval rate by critics and a 32% approval rate by audiences, making it completely rotten.

The movie also received a “D” CinemaScore, the lowest so far for a superhero movie, although calling ‘Joker 2’ a superhero movie or even a comic adaptation would be a pretty big stretch.

During its opening weekend ‘Joker 2’ shattered some pretty unflattering records. With the movie being compared to ‘Morbius.’

Initially, box office predictions for the movie did not look good at all. The projected domestic opening for the film has been revised down to $55 million to $60 million across 4,000 U.S. theaters, utilizing IMAX and Plf screens. Ultimately, the movie brought in a modest $20 million on Friday, which includes $7 million from preview screenings

Connie Nielsen is about to return as Roman Princess Lucilla in Ridley Scott's "Gladiator II." One of the only cast and character carryovers from the original "Gladiator," Nielsen/Lucilla looks like she'll play the same supporting role to her son Lucius (Paul Mescal) as she did to Maximus (Russell Crowe) in the first.

A third Wonder Woman movie was in development at Warner Bros. right up until James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-heads of the relaunched DC Studios, and the decision to scrap the project evidently came as quite a surprise to a number of people involved with the now defunct threequel and the previous WW films.

While speaking to Den of Geek about her return as Lucilla in Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2, Connie Nielsen - who played Queen Hippolyta in both Wonder Woman movies and Justice League - admitted to being baffled by the studio's call.

“I think it’s crazy. I mean, frankly, I don’t understand it,” Nielsen tells the site. “[Wonder Woman] made $800 million just in the movie theaters, and it has an enormous and passionate, passionate fan base. These are spectacular films, and there’s just no reason I can understand whatsoever for not investing in that.

To say that the early results for "Joker: Folie a Deux" weren't exactly what everyone at Warner Bros. had in mind would be a polite understatement. In the wake of Alien: Romulus comes the Hulu series “Alien: Earth” next year, which is set before the events of all previous movies and brings the franchise to Earth for the first time.

If it’s taking place on Earth… before the original Alien… does that mean “Alien: Earth” won’t actually feature any Xenomorphs at all? That’s been the speculation/worry from many fans these past several months, but creator Noah Hawley (“Legion”) is here to debunk the rumors.

While 2013's Man of Steel was the first Dceu movie, it wasn't until Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice three years later that this shared world meant to rival the MCU started taking shape.

You all know what happened next, of course, and the Dceu came to a disappointing end last year. Now, DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran are relaunching the franchise as the Dcu, an exciting development which bodes well for these DC characters on screen.

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman has been quite iconic in many ways. After the release of the first film in 2017, the film established her character in a way no other portrayal of Diana Prince had. This pattern followed through her appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. However, the same was not the case for the second chapter in her story.

Pedro Pascal, who portrays the titular Mandalorian Din Djarin in Star Wars' The Mandalorian TV show, will have a starring role in the franchise's brand-new The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. The actor made his Star Wars debut as Din Djarin in 2019, when both The Mandalorian and the Disney+ streaming platform first launched. Pascal has been a part of the trailblazing Star Wars project following the Mandalorian bounty hunter and his adorable little green accomplice, Grogu (or "Baby Yoda"), ever since the beginning, when it became the first live-action Star Wars TV show.

Now, The Mandalorian is about to make Star Wars history again with The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, giving Pascal the opportunity to be a part of another trailblazing project. There has been, however, uncertainty surrounding his involvement, as the leading role in The Mandalorian helped Pascal to become one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood with an infamously busy schedule.

When James Gunn directed and released the 2021 film The Suicide Squad, the world rejoiced that a good Dceu film had been made that was both funny and explosive at the same time.
