I never got the memo (or publicity release) but Jacky St. James has duly replaced James Avalon full-time as house director of features for Canadian label specializing in Couples Romances, Sweet Sinner. Avalon's series "Shades of Kink" has been succeeded by Jacky's "Darker Side of Desire", a better title than its shooting moniker, the generic sounding "Secret Desires".
Cassidy Klein stars and narrates as an inhibited young woman, serving adequately as mouthpiece for auteur Jacky's oft-expressed (in innumerable features from her previous employer, New Sensations) philosophy regarding the joys of submission, female division. She's afraid her new boyfriend Mickey Mod (imported from the Frisco kink scene & underground porn) won't approve of odd sexuality, but the viewer would have to be hiding under a rock or living in Ted Kaczynski's shack to not expect the ending of them happily enjoying whip & chain action together as well as fashionable IR content thanks to Mod's big black dick.
Along the way to that predictable conclusion we have five sex scenes instead of SS's usual four, and a new favorite in Jacky's acting troupe named Gia Paige is diverting in her sexual antics. Rather awkwardly shoe-horned into the film is a recurring nightmare Cassidy is having, in which bad old Tommy Pistol performs his tired routine of dom beating some sense into lovely sub Cherie DeVille.
It doesn't add up to another "The Submission of Emma Marx" mega-hit for Jacky, but it does pay the bills.
