A new movie of an upcoming star of Malayalam movie industry released directly to a satellite channel had raised much expectations. Right from the title to the promos viewers were expecting a road movie. It starts ok. But then gets confused on which direction to move on to and ends up being a mishmash of genres. The lead actor who's had some nice movies hams it up over here. Nice locations, a couple of good songs and a hope that things will turn for the better is what keeps us going along with this poor effort on storytelling. Eventually one ends up realising it is beyond redemption. I watched this on cable network and am not sure if the channel had further edited the movie at their end which turned the movie for the worse. It was the premiere show of the movie released on cable channel and this was my take away.
  • Movie is purely realistic. Tovino just nailed. Joju George gave his good performance in 1st half but not found in 2nd half. Clearly the movie shows we should be proud to be an Indian amd to follow a good relationship. Money saves today but makes us fall throughout the life from tomorrow

After a long wait where it was unsure whether the Tovino Thomas starrer would have a theatrical run or be screened on any OTT, Kilometres and Kilometres premiered on Asianet today.

And the team composed of 3-National Award winners didn't disappoint, delivery an above average experience. A quaint, quirky road movie that never achieves greatness but manages to entertain, Kms n Kms works primarily because of Tovino, who gives an earnest performance.

Call me biased but as a bullet owner, I instantly connected to the protagonist's deep love for his two-wheeler which forms the crux of the movie.

As the trailer gave away, the movie narrates the story of a broke village handyman who embarks on a cross-country road trip as a guide to a tourist. The various trials and tribulations they face on their journey forms the rest of a simple, heartwarming tale.

The stunning visuals as the lead pair traverses Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan and the Himalayas add further sheen to the narrative.

Sidharth Siva and Joju George shine in their supporting roles while the female lead played by New York-based actress India Jarvis is adequate.

Set your expectations rights and this will not disappoint. Recommended. See less

This movie is not so impressive but it is interesting to watch the movie. This movie shows us the value of relations over money.

However, there are some important flaws in the movie and in my opinion it doesn't deserve a rating above 8..
  • Warning: Spoilers
It's basically not what you think but ends up being exactly what you thought it to be. Worth a watch. Excluding the dull clichΓ© intros that will finally lead to the bullet journey, it is an entertainer. Somebody may find it to be a bit nostalgic. The climax could have been better avoiding the massive clichΓ© ,or may be the crew felt like all road trip movies should end in the same way?! Tovino and Sidhartha have done a good job.
  • "Kilometers and Kilometers" is a Malayalam language comedy drama road adventure movie which was released in 2020. It is directed by Jeo Baby. I became a huge fan of him after watching "The Great Indian Kitchen" and I was curious about this movie only because of him. The story is about a guy, the only bread owner of the family is going through financial crisis. He gets offered a job of a tour guide to an American lady and the story goes on.

Tovino Thomas is the protagonist here. He performed really well. Despite being the protagonists, Joju George and Siddharth Shiva's performances were amazing. India Jarvis who plays the role of the American lady, was meh! The movie tells about human feelings. It says that the human relationships are also important. Money will not give you the ultimate happiness. Direction and cinematography are good. The comedy timing is perfect. All the songs are beautiful. The first half is really entertaining. But the second half is kind of bollywoodish. India is all about different cultures and different languages. These differences are perfectly shown in this movie. Some breathtaking views of Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Gujrat are taken.

I know, many of us are completely locked between the four walls. We didn't even go for a trip from a long time. It's a tough time for us. I think, this film can slightly pacify our anxieties. According to me, "Kilometers and Kilometers" is indeed a feel good and light hearted film you can watch with your family.

    P. S: It's not a masterpiece like "The Great Indian Kitchen". Do not raise your expectations. Otherwise, you'll be disappointed.

Poor screen play, dialogues and an average story line . Didn't feel emotionally connected to the characters or the story..even the chemistry between actor and actress was also weak.the cinematography atleast could gave been better as it is a travel movie but that also was weak. Biggest tragedy is that the script writer is giving life to his idea of American culture in a very negative manner and praising the indian family system.. propagating this stereotypes in today's world is a below average thinking.

I liked this movie, it's a good entertainer for sure. Those who love travel would definitely love this move. Its quite emotional and better feeling move though..
  • I watched Kilometers and Kilometers on Netflix in orig. Malayalam w/Eng. subs.

K&K is a feel good, light hearted amusing film which could have been very much better. No Spoilers as its a new release.

It is a real pity that substandard dialogues greatly lowered the tenor of this otherwise entertaining movie. In particular the hyper pidgin English spoken by Josemon (Tovino) with Cathy. It is unbelievable that a person of Josemon's age from the most literate state of Kerala, would not be able to speak at least somewhat better English than the horrible pidgin depicted. Not to mention the irritatingly repetitious "Nothing official about it" :-((( Tovino could not carry the pidgin dialogues off and it really isn't his fault but that of the dialogue writer.

Likewise the puerile arguments comparing culture was more cheap and unwarranted than engaging. On the one hand the film shows the 'cultural' reality of excessive wanton boozing in Kerala in graphic glory and on the other, Josemon disparages US culture, come on ...... !!!! It was more like cheap Bollywood dialogue and most unlike the finely scripted genuine satirical digs that one has come to expect in good Malayalam movies.

Other than that, the sets were realistic and the cinematography good even if the plot was far fetched, albeit interesting enough. The character I liked most was the humorous Veer Bhai, effectively played by Sidhartha Siva. India Jarvis as the American Cathy was stilted. Tovino was mostly okay. Joju George and the rest were good but did not have particularly significant roles. It was interesting to see the 'Bullet' temple and the Bottle temple. Not sure if they are the real Bullet Baba and Whisky Bottle temples of Rajasthan or just sets. Perhaps just sets, for surely the orange brigade's so called sensibilities would have been speedily 'offended' with a real depiction, in today's India :-(((

Veer Bhai and Josemon's father's Bullet were surely the real stars of the show.

The length of the film could have been cut by at least 30mn.

Overall, watchable, pleasing and feel good . Could easily have been better. I'd have rated this 8-9 if not for the aforementioned flaws.

This movie was filled with ton of cliches & exhausting moments. I don't understand why people give such high ratings . Is it because they love bullet! No idea. The movie began okay with some fun elements but there was something out of place throughout the dialogues and screenplay. They tried to do a road movie but ended up being something we have seen bits and parts in a lot of other movies. "A malayalee talking to a foreigner in broken english" I am not sure if this is still a joke thing after so many years. Also in some parts of the movie Tovino's character was so stupid to understand what are 'mountains or temples' but towards the middle of the ride he speaks naturally without any hesitation or confusion. Probably the wind effect or something.... His close friends whom we see in the beginning of the movie are completely forgotten towards the end. I'm not sure if this was re-edited by the TV channel. The most terrible scene has to be that part where Tovino shouts at Cathy when their things get stolen. Oh Man that dialogues were just pathetic .Tovino's expressions looked forced. I don't want to add anything more to that. The girl who played Cathy was really good.....Always enjoy the acting of Basil. All the cast did their part well. Kms & Kms with less logic is hard to digest.
  • What a wonderful performance from Tovi... Loved a Lot... km&Km

Bad movie, full of wrong stereotypes. Not worth watching.
  • In my thoughts it's a one time watchable feel good movie. All were well performed except that foreign actress . i like the Tovino-Basil combo. Also it may be the first malayalam movie to release through TV channel (Asianet). Although it's a good movie for a one time watch.

    Warning: Spoilers
Wow! It's baffling to see such mediocre content being put forward by Malayalam cinema when there's so much experimentation and novel scripts being written and brought to life. The premise is a problem in that it tries to establish and validate the notion that family, relations are of utmost importance in the Indian culture and that American or Western society is money driven. Anyone who has traveled the world or researched would know that relations, family form the core of all and any culture around the world. The way that plays out may be different. Just because divorce, remarriage, raising step children etc are not unusual in the western countries, it is by no means pointing to a conclusion that the value of family is trivial. So yes, it is not surprising to hear many people alluding to notions such as this one that family is not important to the foreigners. Tovino goes overboard in playing the part of a simpleton "aiyyo paavam" guy. The director/writer failed to notice that the protagonist actually comes across as a failure - a youth who whiles away his time drinking, borrowing money from anyone and everyone with no attempt to doing anything fruitful to pick up the pieces and find the drive to earn a livelihood. Anyone could have played the part of the 'American tourist' and it would have made no difference. If this was intended as a road/travel movie, that was barely there. A few glimpses here and there of random shooting locations is all that was. In that aspect,Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi was a pretty good watch.

In all, a big disappointment and I was cringing at the repeat of the "relationship is important " dialogues.

It started off as a pretty interesting road movie and ended by confusing everyone, because it feels like even the writers found it difficult to conclude this movie within a single genre and a decent ending. Moreover the American traveller character is pretty much a stereotyped version as of how Indians consider foreigners(caring only about themselves, thinking only about money are some prejudiced ideas).Such a depiction is similar to how hollywood movies depict India in their movies;like an undeveloped and illiterate society of people.Over all it is one time watchable.
  • The concept of the movie was to take us through a journey across India and make us understand that we are emotionally connected though culturally different , whether it is within India or with other countries but the movie narration failed in convincing the audience.

The movie was really interesting and highlights the value of relations
  • Kilometers and Kilometers is a mixed bag, giving you a sour taste at the end. It starts with borderline pretension about an American solo traveller wanting to explore India and depending on an unreliable loafer (Tovino Thomas) for the quest. There are problems with this setting, but even if you ignore them, the film rarely invokes a feeling of adventure or hedonism. All it manages to convey are two perspectives about life: relations are important vs each man for himself. But with whatever this wannabe emotional drama pulls at the end dampens everything. I had a very exhaustive experience watching Kilometers and Kilometers which is not easily available for viewing and which I won't recommend to anyone, even to those who may be expecting a road movie. It hardly is. TN.

Didn't expect this much beautiful movie on onam day. It was an amazing travelling along with tovino on bullet.

A well crafted script and nice direction. Tovino was rocking. Everyone did their best. The guy in rajasthan did a great character role. And the heroine was stunning. She did well.

A simple and powerful movie. The movie has many messages. A great travel /road movie indeed. Million thanks tovino and team behind this.

This movie had extremely cliched Characters and almost every scene was unbearably cringey. The concept itself had soo much potential.
  • It was cliched due to the love angle ..... shud have ended it based on friendship, generosity and value of relationships ( not love)
  • It's the first film in Malayalam to be released on TV ... if people can support free web series in YouTube then we should promote the films which are released on TV .... Keep in mind the finance earning for producers are from TV these days because of no theatres ... Support more and give meaningful and supportive ratings πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ

One of the worst movies ever. Even worse than shah rukh khan dragging love story performance. Never recommend this movie to your worst enemy
  • Warning: Spoilers
The story revolves around Josemon who has many responsibilities and financial problem and Catherine who recently won a lottery and came to visit India on her last trip. Then they travel together and understands each other better and their barriers in language and culture does not pose a problem as they travel together and in their adventures. This movie shows that relations have much more value than money in the world. It is wonderful movie and worth watching.
  • This is a horrible movie and you're better off not wasting your time for this terrible movie with absolute garbage acting and cliche story.
