  • This is a great representation of CalFire, local California departments, and California wildfires! However, the fire organization is huge, and Netflix missed out on incorporating federal agencies and other local agencies as well as the fact that fires are burning across the west! They need another longer season with other types of firefighters and other locations. This thing is way bigger than what is depicted.

Yeah, it's a must watch and an eye opener for everyone. Please watch this. Is well done, excellent photography. It's alarming and it's about respect - never mind the patronising ahole in ep 2 with the new boys - and I love that they tell you to watch out for critters. But it's time we all learned just how devastating an illegal campfire can be - hope they can live with themselves those people - and how simple things, and a change of mentality, can make things easier, not just for the firemen but the home owners and Mother Nature too!

I find the title to be misleading because for instance an ambulance chaser is someone who goes after accidents to profit; a storm chaser is someone who illegally chases storms for profit. So to call these fire chasers is misleading. This is not about people chasing fires to make profit, this is about firefighters and in particular it seems to be about using the correctional system to create firefighters to help block a shortage. Which I thought was also misleading since this is not just about firefighters nor the huge California fires. I'm only into episode 2 and I'm probably not going to watch more because even though I have immense respect for firefighters I find that this is too chatty, especially about the correctional people, which don't interest me, sorry to say, and not really much focus on what I would deem the real firefighters or how they fought these fires. I worked for a law firm during what they call the campfires up in Northern California so I have a pretty good idea of what they left out and there is lot. As far as this one fire starting from an illegal campfire, That's not unusual- it's extremely typical and unfortunately we just don't have enough people out in the forest trying to stop this type of behavior. I do wish there were some way to make those people responsible for the millions of dollars spent on these fires. But I also don't believe that we should spend so much money just to save houses. If they can have people evacuate and just try to contain the fire I think that's all you can really hope for. I think it's ridiculous to spend billions of dollars a year trying to save houses. Because you know who pays for all that is the taxpayers. Anyway there's only three reviews here so I don't expect anyone really will read this but for those who are in the documentary who are likely the only three reviews, kudos to you and your family God bless you.

This series follows the people who fight California wildfires, the danger, the cost, and the personal loss it causes. The camera work is great. The shots he gets are fantastic. If you have seen lots of western US wildfires (I have) you probably have will find this very interesting. If you haven't then you will probably like it even more.

They also follow a woman named Cody who is a fire fighter from the California corrections system. Her story is compelling and emotional and it ends with her release to her family and the positive changes in her life.

The pace of the episodes is slower than most shows today. Lots of editors might have cut it down to 3 episodes but after I got used to the pace I was satisfied with it being 4 episodes.
