Less here is more: One presenter, smaller set, fewer but celebrity, indeed top-flight, fun and interesting contestants.

The broad-brush bland-urbanity of charmer Alexander Armstrong somehow always made Richard Osmands interjections awkward - he never engaged with them, merely paused then passed on. It made RO's presence seem rather inexplicable if not actually pointless. Some might even suspect a Gatling-Fenn gambit or two. I recognise one at least.

Here though surprisingly RO blossoms as the sole presenter, the participants too seem to be very comfortable. The format is simpler but more engaging, faster moving and more fun - for participants and viewer.

I'll be honest, I didn't like this show when it first aired, now I never miss it. It's fun, it's different, and it's always entertaining. I love the mix of guests that appear, it's interesting to see how their minds work, and just how they interact with their intelligent host.

Osman is excellent as the host of the show, he's smart and funny, I love his dry humour.

Yes it's high brow, I get why this show would be seen as irritating for some, but appreciate it for being different, for making people think in a totally different way.

I totally love watching it. 8/10.

Love this show, my wife and I compete against each other, however the most frustrating part of the show is if you want to play at home you don't get to seen the question board long enough as it keeps cutting to the celebrities..
  • Great quiz show that doesn't take itself too serious and one that you can easily play along with, without having to have vast general knowledge.

This quiz is so fun to watch, friendly banter between contestants and host, it's a pleasure.
  • Even my husband loves playing this game - it is such fun and has something for everyone. We try to never miss a show!
  • The simplicity of just getting playing a quiz show for celebrities just works perfectly. My family absolutely loves quiz shows and the fact that there is an abundance of questions on an entertaining programs is under appreciated.

I love the show but lately have become a little annoyed over the imbalance of contestants. There often is one celeb who keeps winning..which is starting to bore me. Mostly sitting in seat 4 for some reason.

I now tape the show and run it to the end. If the same One wins I delete. Come on ... it is much more exciting when there is more than 1 or 2 winners.

Or like pointless which has become monotonous..I will turn off for good.

Always pleased when I tune in the challenges are good and the show itself isn't built upon tension as many other quiz shows are. The guests aren't well known celebrities but their efforts are still valliant.
  • What an absolutely "up your own backside" in love with herself was Grace whatever her other name is, completely ruined everyone of this weeks programmes with her constant hand gestures and look how great is me.

All this in a week of humility whilst trying their best by all the other three contestants with the ultimate funny man of sport Mr Kris Akabusi a breath of fresh air whenever he appears on our screens which is nowhere near enoug

Hope there is NOT nor NEVER a winners show where the odious female Grace ( wrongly named) appears in, the very thought that I could ( as I do look forward to this fun quiz), end up being excruciatingly subjected to such an obnoxious self seeking person ever again it would put me off this show forever.
  • An enjoyable general knowledge quiz with a mix of celebrity competition and gentle humour.

Nothing too stressful though a few of the 1 star reviewers below seem to have a real fear of intelligent television. They struggle with the choice between. "It's not taste" Vs "This needs to be axed immediately". Obviously there's no in-between in their eyes.

Watch a few episodes and make up your own mind.
  • Why does Richard Osman cheat so much in the Nice Round - he asks people to award someone a point when they haven't even got the right answer. He also ignores contestants when they award a point to someone he doesn't agree with. Basically he sets out the rules then ignores the rules when he awards the points. He is a total egotistical wonker who should be told to abide by the rules or let someone with integrity host the show. Basically if Richard Osman doesn't like who is winning he let's the other players have extra time for their questions or shortens the time for the person he doesn't want to win.

Why doesn't the producer have a word with him about these things? Or is he or she in agreement that Rochard Osman can spoil the show? He really is a joke.
  • Whilst seemingly trite the mix of guests makes it a good view. Only annoying thing is certain 'celebrities' are as thick as the proverbial swine doodoos why do their agents put them forward when they so obviously cannot answer the simplest of questions which actually spoils the programme. I fear it is the fee they are paid which they are seeking.

Used to hate it. Now I love it. The questions are difficult and it's fun to see the banter and to see celebrities act like.... people.

My guilty pleasure watching and joining in and trying to guess the answers..I record the show as I don't want to miss one episode..or I watch on iPlayer.

Richard Osman is perfect as the presenter and the celebrity guests are always interesting and surprisingly competitive.. It gets quit exciting when they do the Answer Smash and it's down to the wire ..one wrong answer can cost them the game and the chance of those unusual prizes..the suitcase and dartboard are the best.

    Really good banter every week.

Just this week Richards future wife was competing and she was quite brilliant and looked great in the gold robe and gold cap.

The best quiz show on the BBC.
  • I quite enjoy Osman (He holds the 'Pointless' programme together) but his use of DOCTOR this week is patronising to say the least and is annoying.

    GROW UP Osman.

    Dr Peter Williams.
  • I love this show. My daughter and I play against each other. The guests are always interesting. For me the star is always Richard. He's so quick witted and hilarious.

    A joy to watch.

Can't wait for series 7. Come on BBC.

There is no better quiz show on tv.

My fav shows so far were, the one where he met Ingrid Oliver. So sweet. Wish iPlayer didn't remove previous shows. Leave them all on there so I can rewatch at my leisure.

Then the one when they got engaged. She looked so happy. So did he.

It must be so much fun on their house.

I hope he still finds time to do more series now he's a married man. CONGRATULATIONS.
  • The concept is fine and I'm a fan of Osman's but this show really doesn't work. It seems to channel such a low effort/low energy level presence. It isn't funny and the banter just seems flat for a show that features a lot of comedians as guests.

Feels like watching one of those group interview team building exercises, except its only 4 people. And those people are all your aunt who you only see once a year and have one joke in common with. Should have been 3 teams of two.

Just not funny. Im confused why people think its good. Its stale, hard work and he is not a funny presenter.

    Angry
Richard Osman shows favouritsm and should be reprimanded. Then sacked . He was very rude tonight to Steve Backshall. Make him apologize to Steve on air. And tell him to stop giving out points when someone has clearly given a wrong answer !! He's totally out of order !!!
  • Truly a terrible tv show, bad premise, bad atmosphere, just awful. Only in England would this show be acceptable and allowed. Not funny, not entertaining.
  • Much as I like Richard Osman as a presenter, I personally find House of Games absolutely inane and completely unwatchable. To say that House of Games is simpler than Pointless would be an understatement. Not funny and definitely not entertaining.

    Awful
A terrible terrible concept, introduced by a host with zero screen presence and zero charisma.

    Dreadful.
  • Warning: Spoilers
It's the same old story - you have a hit and then that gives you a free pass on the BBC to try something else. Because you're suddenly a 'star'.

So here comes Richard from 'Pointless' with this dire show, that comes across as smug from the off.

Throw in the BBC's usual line-up of 'celebs' and you've got a bog standard game show that bizarrely seems successful.

It's a little like watching your relatives playing parlour games and about as much fun.
