  • It's no future classic comedy but I'm surprised by some of the reviews calling it terrible and racist. It's amusing and has it's moments and because it deals with the issues of racism in the 1950's , this seems to be the reason people call it racism, there is no point whitewashing history but laughing at how ridicolous attitudes should never be considered racist but should be considered a look back in time. It's watchable and certainly something I would consider watching , it's not going to change the world but amusing comedy that deals with thorny issues should be encouraged.

Very entertaining. Writers didn't fall into the old habit of just showing past time as racist and misogynistic but actually play with the characters so they fall into the traps, displaying common human behaviors in a very fun way. You can see that jokes were done carefully. It shows how little people have changed especially when they find themselves surrounded by a certain type of thinking. The show is not very deep but it feels like that on certain occasions. Actors exaggerate in their acting but it doesn't feel forced. It serves a purpose. Very refreshing. I watch a lot of comedies and like them even though I might not laugh, but this one got me laughing very often.
  • I wish this show was my idea! The writing, premise and plot are fantastic. In some places, it may come across as thin on jokes, especially if you're used to U. S. sitcoms, but overall very good.
  • I thought the premise for Timewasters was innovative, the execution could of been a bit more thorough. As I watched all the episodes in one day, I was hoping for that climatic moment of relief when my hours spent watching feel worth the time which it did during musical scenes. I felt the episodes starting to drift off into mediocre bad children's tv. My rating of 6 might seem high, however that score is based on the concept of timewasters, the costumes and scenery and the musical elements of the show. Hopefully in time this show could be revived with better dialogue and episodes that lead to somewhere that make sense. After all I believe this show's audience is for a more mature audience.
  • Love the idea and execution of this show! I'm finding British shows are light years ahead of American shows when displaying grounded comedy from a Black perspective. While the cast is Black, the comedy is relatable to a diverse audience. Pleasantly surprised colorism is not present.

Time travel is not traditionally considered for Black characters, as one character muses that Black people don't have a desirable prior decade to want to visit. Overall, a light-hearted, witty comedy that I immensely enjoyed.

Just stumbled across this series and I'm hooked on it! It's fresh it's crazy it's brilliant. It does social commentary is such a clever way- it mocks it exposes bigotry all wrapped up in quick fire humour! Very very clever, well acted well played - it integrates little cameos from various films e.g. Get Me Out - Stepford Wives and spoofs them up! Great writing keep up the good work- hope we see more of this Team on our TV please

    Warning: Spoilers
Waited and waited for Itv2 to give a date and time for the release of this series and it finally came on yesterday 9/10/17 but i watched it on i- player the next morning. The appeal of the series is the fact that a group of black people go back in time..a first of its kind..

Personally I didn't like the fact that there was swearing & nudity in it(am a Christian) and it limits the target audience.. Also I would have liked the time machine to have taken them back to the times of Henry 7 , 8 and Elizabeth 1 for them to see the reality of those times , there were a lot of black people in England at that time and not as slaves but free men. Queen Bessie deported many of them and seized their goods.

The acting was good and great lines.. "Its like woke up in a black and white film but like in colour and like no a film!" " How long are you staying for? Until I find Jason innit...This Mr innit.".. "You got a D and an E when you retook it lol"

Some may find it cheesy stereotypical - black manhood, Model dumbness etc but I think we cant really review the series until we see the rest of the episodes as opening episodes are used to establish the characters..

This series is pure peng! The sets...Boom. The screenplay, the plot. All top drawer. This has re-watch value and will have you in stitches fam. Peep this for real, 100% certified.

For those who don't speak London, let me reiterate. This is an excellent series with a fantastic plot, great sets and wardrobe, that will keep you amused. Never one dull moment and I just hope they make more as this series has legs if they chose to run it longer. Enjoy!
  • Bad acting, awful plot .. interesting basic idea but so badly thought out. The characters are just so one dimensional awful and stereotypical its such a shame. Why do so many comedies nowadays come across as so amateurish, does no one ever read the scripts or preview the program itself. I realise this is ITV2 and obviously aimed at the under 10s .. sorry under 20s but are they really so dim.

Very much liked it. was funny had a lot of humor, very much liked the slang and it different types of characters and how they seem to fit there instruments. Found the process from going back to the past using an elevator very different but all in all a excellent family (mature) comedy for different viewers.

    I give it a 9-10
  • I love an intelligent comedy, and this is one of the best! It takes a lot to make me laugh out loud this many times. It's original, with perfect comedic timing, and doesn't take itself too seriously despite the opportunities to call out prejudice. It's just fun and I love the characters are put into embarrassing and triumphant situations. Give it a try!
  • I honestly don't know how this made it on the TV, one of the worst shows i've ever watched!!
  • Just binge watched Timewasters on Freevee 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽, love everything about it!!! Now I'm sad to learn and trying to understand why it wasn't picked up for a 3rd season??!!

If I had the means I'd pick it up for the 3rd. Those of us here in the States would welcome this historical comedic twist and cast of characters 😂😅😂😅

    poor
They really a bunch of timewasters wish I never watching it
  • I LOOOVVVEEE this show. It's well written and beautifully acted in a way that you don't see everyday here in the US where everything is either cookie cutter or trying too hard to be original. One thing I did notice was the close resemblance of the four characters to the lead characters of "what's happenin" The American sitcom from the 70s. They have a Raj, a Rerun, a Dwayne, and even a Dee. It's no copy though. The time travel angle and storylines are completely original. The show manages to handle race (and sexism) in yesteryear England with some honesty without sacrificing humor or becoming somber. It's absolutely worth a watch, but...no kids in the room and skip it if you're a Hallmark movie churchy type. Oh and don't listen to the grumblers. People like to forget that Black people existed before the Cosby show.
  • I thought I'd accidentally tuned into CITV, but no, it's actually on Amazon and inexplicably has a 16plus rating. I honestly expected the Chuckle Brothers to appear at any moment. It's just terrible. I'm ignoring any commentary it might or might not have on racism now and in the past as it seems to handle that with some sensetivity, but as a comedy, which is surely it's reason for existing, it just doesn't work. And the acting, if you can call it that, is straight out of Double Deckers (Google it if you're under 50 - it's funnier too) I watched it as it was just leaving Prime and I like a bit of sci-fi. I can see why it wasn't renewed..
