Stills & Mills' offbeat take on the venerable fairy tale results in one of their best features to date, a pleasant surprise for me in light of their recent low, low batting average in terms of quality. Bree's script and direction (alongside partner in crime Alan) hit the spot.
In porn history, this Lesbian feature breaks some new ground in its rather daring mixture of sex and violence. Back in Adult Cinema's theatrical era of the 1970s, many a film was ultra-violent without sacrificing its XXX sex content, but self-censorship (in fear of state censorship) in recent decades has led to a a NonViolent approach by pornographers, with the few miscreants like a Max Hardcore or Lizzie Borden finding themselves in trouble with the law for injecting gonzo violence into the mix.
The threading of that needle here begins with re-imagining of Little Red Riding Hood in a more realistic context, with Cassidy Klein in the title role having grown up in isolation as a Wild Child. Sympathetic social worker April O'Neil takes the kid's case, and finds her grandmother (Kendra Lust) ready and willing to take her in after a life of woe.
White slavers in the form of the mean (but busty) trio Jelena Jensen, Penny Pax and Abigail Mac, plus the filmmaker herself Bree Mills (NonSex for her of course), are out to exploit Klein, to sell her to the highest bidder. Her damsel in distress travails come with a strong amount of girl on girl violence, that is invigorating in context as it seems to always end in sensual and/or rough Sapphic sex. That particular formula is refreshing, as the lion's share of Lesbian Video releases verge at times on the softness of one of those old Feminine Hygiene product TV commercials of old, all lovey dovey and mush.
Not to abandon their ad nauseum emphasis on crypto-incest, Mills & Stills have uber MILF Kendra Lust injected into the mix as not a blood relative but a youngish grandma by way of marrying Klein's real grandpa. That makes a torrid four-girl lesbian orgy of Lust, Klein, Mac and O'Neil (adding up to 6 big breasts plus Klein) quite a curtain-dropping conclusion, until the usual false ending that puts us in the dreaded "only a dream" universe of lazy storytelling. Also, a big defect in the finale is the team's inevitable facetiousness, as the 3 good guys (I don't have a femme equivalent of that expression to toss in) gang-up on Mac to force her to have orgasms as some sort of ridiculous revenge for her wrong-doing. Yeah, right.
KEY SPOILERS:
For me, it was quite surprising to see Klein our young heroine in violent, murderous mode -perhaps inevitable in a revisionist era when most horror legends are turned on their head for novelty's sake. She ends up killing evil Jensen, a role reversal even the Brothers Grimm wouldn't countenance.
