Can you guess who plays the Queen without looking it up? I'd seen it twice, then was so impressed when I looked. She's a treasure. Such jolly and delightful gags throughout. I mean to watch it again at Christmas. Just love this show.

Will has come up to Stratford and had to deal with holiday traffic. He is glad that the Three Wise Kings did not set off in this day and age to see the baby Jesus, they would never arrive in time.

However Will's plan to spend Christmas with the family does not go to plan. Kit feels lonely and wants to skive persecuting Catholics and gets an invitation to join them. So does Kate whose parents have gone abroad and more surprisingly Robert Green who claims to have turned over a new leaf and wants to do good.

Will's biggest problem is that he has been invited to see Queen Elizabeth. He has to give her a gift and perform his new play, Eight Night which his actors do not like.

However once Robert Green's reveals his plans, both Will and Kit are in danger.

Ben Elton makes barbed comments on the commercialisation of Christmas. A pagan festival now taken over by religion. Emma Thompson guest stars as Queen Elizabeth. This festive episode has several laughs and highlights the romantic side of Shakespeare's writings.
