Manoj Bajpayee is absolutely brilliant as an opportunistic and philandering womanizer in Mukul Abhyankar's ambitious psychological drama Missing that is largely led by Tabu. Hers is the main character here, who steals focus from her audience as this worried mother of a young girl named Titli, who goes missing later in the film. Missing narrates the story of these three characters as Annu Kapoor, playing an Indian cop in Mauritious, heads the investigation of the missing child. Abhyankar's writing is tight and you are going to be hooked since the first frame itself. Apart from the gradual unfolding of events, and thereby the truth, there's an air of suspense throughout the 120-minute running time as you try to predict what will happen with the characters. Sometimes funny but always thrilling, Missing works because of writer-director Abhyankar's solid direction and execution. Bajpayee shines better than Tabu, although it is the joint effort by the entire cast that makes this more worthwhile. I am also impressed by the score by M M Kreem, which compensates the issues I have with the plot and the several holes in it. Even if you regard these issues as problematic, the unexpected climax and the consequences of all the proceedings makes Missing an above average thriller. They hardly make such films in Bollywood, so it is important for us to take note and appreciate when they do. Catch it when you can. TN.

surajpnair5 June 2018A decent thriller which revolves around 3 characters enacted by top-notch actors especially Manoj Bajpayee, the climax reminded me of the yesteryear movie 'Kaun'. Nevertheless one can give it a try, it's available on Amazon Prime and it's way better than all the noise created by Bollywood for Crore Club crap movies.

SPOILER: With great expectations, I started to watch this movie on Amazon Prime. And this came as a surprise that this was straight away copied from one of the episodes from Zee TVs Saturday Suspense. I was a kid back then. Maybe around 1998. And frankly I didnt remember any other episodes. But this episode in particular left a lasting impression on me. It was way ahead of its time. Imagine people saying that this is a good movie now in 2018. And then imagine watching it 20 years back. Thats why I remembered just this episode. Another reason why I remembered this is because the name of the daughter in that episode was also Titli. I am not sure why this never came up sooner. Anyways the script deserved this movie back in 1998 too. The impact it made this time is less because after watching so many movies with twists and turns like Saw, Usual Suspects, etc, its okayish in todays time. Anyways with great performance in it, the movie is quite watchable.

The makers ran out of creativity while deciding the title. There are lot of thrillers out there and you simply cannot afford to have a common, uncatchy title as "missing". I mean everyone is missing in almost all the thrillers.
This one's a very compelling thriller with brilliant star cast. Underrated because it didn't reach the right audience also maybe not well marketed.
Kept me glued to the screen till the very end. -
nandan198127 December 2018I went in hoping to watch a class act by Manoj Bajpayee and Tabu as they are really superb actors/veterans but was shocked to see such bad cinematography, background score ,direction and narration.. I mean it has been a time since Hindi movies have evolved but directors don't seem to learn how to put pieces together. Same old stupid music at every moment when there is a shocking revelation or a moment of suspense. I think Manoj Bajpayee will be cursing himself to do such a thrash movie. God there are many nitwits on IMDB commenting that the direction is good but it reeks of a B grade movie style narrative.

sarkara23 July 2021Don't make the mistake of watching this trash because of Manoj Bajpai and Tabu, they simply collected the paychecks here. I've can't remember having seen any other movie with more wooden acting, and nonsensical dialogues. The story has so large loopholes that you could drive a truck through it. It really takes a sh**ty director to make a C-grade movie with A-grade actors, and the director has done a bang up job at that.

Overwhelmed by it's premises and gripping storyline, and acting of Tabbu and Manoj Vajpayee is simply amazing to watch. Actually it's just a hint- If you're a regular Mystery, Thriller movie watcher then you'll predict it's loophole at the very beginning of this movie (like me). And if you catch this loophole then, you'll solve this movie very quickly. Anyway! Lot's of twists and turns present here. Overall definitely watch it for surely. I'm going with 7 Out of 10 Stars!

Worst directography ever. Nothing is good except the script. Nor the filmography neither acting. If you only want to know the story just read the story/plot from anywhere. Please don't watch the movie 😠.

sanjaygttmp10 June 2018Do not recall when I last saw any such thriller coming from Hindi cinema. Superb acting by all the lead actors.. Sad to see Imdb rating of 6.1. Probably lot of people do not appreciate cinema and are happy with B grade song and dance bollywood flicks. Miss this movie at your own peril for you do not know when bollywood would make another classic thriller.

profilehack6 June 2018This film is good until & unless it comes to the climax part. Manoj Bajpayee's performance was "A" class. Tabu was outstanding. Anu Kapoor was very convincing. Story telling was also good. picturization was too good. But climax was too much disappointing. But still I recommend it to every one to see this film. It's really worth it.

The actual story unfolds in the later part of the second half and few good twists are also there. But you will need a lot of patience to watch this movie till the end!!

sareenishita12 June 2018The actors do a great job of confusing the audience. But this movie tries to be too many things at once- a thriller, a psychological film, a revenge film, and slasher. Watch it if you want to experience the suspense, but the ending will predictably disappoint. This movie could have been so much more if the plot lines were written with some direction rather than just letting them haphazardly play it all out.

They try to have twists and turns and you're always questioning and predicting what would happen. It was a very good attempt and it had me close to the edge of my seat. Acting was good by Tabu and Manoj but the inspector was a little over. It's not a perfect movie but it's good enough. Worth the watch.

Abdulxoxo17 January 2021The basis of the film is interesting - a couple and their unwell 3-year old daughter check into a beach resort in Mauritius. The following morning the child disappears from their room leaving the distraught parents running from pillar to post trying to look for her. The first half is consistent and manages to keep the viewer in suspense but the second half blows out of proportion, with long drawn out scenes, unconvincing twists and poor choices by the characters. The performances are ok at best, which is disappointing considering the two lead are great actors. The film also struggles with pacing issues at times. The screenplay is so awful; and I don't appreciate the ridiculous amount of twists, there are at least four twists in the plot each more ridiculous than the one that came before. The plot keeps changing direction every 15-minutes or so to the point where the whole becomes illogical. The dialogues are tacky and cheesy which will get you laughing for the wrong reason at times. The cinematography doesn't suit tone of the film. But the background score is good tho loud at times. Overall, it's an okay thriller.

anikb-8709924 July 2021Let me tell you why this film is just OK. This film has two mysteries - One, the baby of Aparna and Two, Aparna herself.
Now the first mystery is super predictable. Seeing that dead like speechless thing in Aparna's arm, even a kid can predict that it is not real and that something is not right with the baby Titli. So, I kind of questioned myself why am i even watching this film when i know the kid is fake??
The answer lies in the 2nd mystery which is genuinely quite unpredictable, that is, what is Aparna's secret. This is the only reason which kept me hooked till the end which was shocking. In fact, even that I could partially predict especially after that one scene in a bunker in the ship.
So, overall, this film is an above average thriller which is quite predictable hence it spoils the film a bit but still manages to keep you guessing the ultimate truth. -
ishratnisar29 November 2021Okay first things first, i watched the movie yesterday, watched the trailer seemed promising.
Then within first 30 minutes of the movie I felt the cringe about the dialogues and acting, decided to keep going on the fact, that the cringe might be intentional guess there is going to be something big or whatever. Biggest mistake i made that day.
Let's cone to the plot, the plot holes not only are gigantic , but i cannot comprehend the fact no one pointed that out, it felt like all the people involved in the movie came together to be collectively stupid.
Let's cone to the characters,. Annu Kapoor who plays officer Budda is shown who is so amazing at his job he is called Mr. 100 percent by the media for resolving all of the cases he has encountered in his lifetime, but is unable to look through the facade of Mr. Dubey for a good chunk of time, and for a while even believes him and the officer and his staff are shocked and suprised at every little detail as if they have never encountered a criminal. Before. The movie gets funny at the wrong places, imagine a scene is supposed to be serious but the amount of tacky lines used and the acting make it funny, not a good look for a movie now is it?
The police officers who come for questioning, play as some therapist listening to Aparna played by Tabu where she mentions irrelevant stories about her daughter's personality, who is 3 year old who just went missing for god's sake.
All these events unfold in Mauritius, and all the characters from the hotel staff to police officers are indian, like literally everyone.. like come on now.
And now the worst part, with Tabu being a person who's excaped from the mental hospital,. Makes the movie totally illogical, and without even knowing her trauma you are just left with a movie where a mentally unstable woman, just killed a person in middle of the forest for literally nothing.. it's going to take me a while to forgive myself for watching this total piece of trash.
Looks like everyone came collected there pay checks and left, i cannot believe somebody's just shelled money for this. Good luck y'all. -
ektasharma28 June 2018The movie is ok and have a good story. You could predict climax almost correctly so nothing new in there. Commendable acting from both the actors. Don't watch it if you're expecting a mind blowing thriller or if you are hoping that climax is not same that you guessed but do watch it for great acting and to see how story unfolds to that climax. That makes the movie interesting for you !

REALLY WASTE OF TIME. Don't see other good reviews and get disappointed as I felt.
