My husband and I have been struggling with our marriage. This show was recommended to me and I asked him to watch. What makes this so beautiful is we wait for the show to come on and not only watch together but remember US and how important WE are as US.

We have very similar experiences and can relate to so much. He says as a black man I get Yasir and this show doesn't just speak to the 90's but it deals with today's issues.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful love story and in essence providing therapy to save our marriage.
  • The fact this is based on a true story makes it a beautiful TV show. The writers are very good and I am enjoying watching the cast. Really awesome TV. Happy for Season 2
  • This is an interesting "Harry Meets Sally' type show on the Black-hand side. Each episode baffles me why this together women settled for this "fixer upper" man? Heartwarming writing and with everything supporting the "Hollywood agenda," this is refreshing!

I love this show for so many reasons. Firstly, I love the way the Akils are trying to show not all black fathers abandon their children . Yasir's best friend is a dedicated dad who is relentless in the care of his daughter. Secondly, Nuri's character gives hope to those who are looking for love. Lastly, Yasir might be broke, but his intellect is intact. This is an all around excellent show that brings a lot of positives in what it means to be black in America. Can't help but give huge high fives to the Akils and Queen Oprah!

This show is simply AMAZING! I was drawn in after the first couple of minutes. I saw Yasir in another role and was not sure I could see him as a love interest! I can't wait to see how this story line unfolds! #blacklove
  • Finally a series for us without the typical stereotypes you see everywhere else. It refreshing to have a show that actually has a exceptional writing team that construct a story enjoyable without resorting to low brow gags. Since I am only basing this on the 1st episode, who I won't be disappointed.
  • Mara...please present this show to another network. I see "The Game" is returning on Paramount +, so do the same with this show. There are very few shows out there, taht display a hard working educating black women that has her own, in search of real love, not an affair. This story is so relatable on so many levels. We couldn't wait to see where this relationship was heading, then all of a sudden cancelled! So unfair. Please, please return this to television. We get tired of shows displaying black women as ratchat and ghetto, but the positive shows get cancelled!
  • This show is fantastic. Finally we have a show that examines love from all sides and what it takes to truly be in love and fight to maintain love over the long haul. You get to see love from the perspective of the man(Yasir) and the woman(Nuri) in roles that are not stereotyped, type-casting African-Americans in a narrow picture but showing black people as real human beings, which everyone can relate to on some level. The acting is marvelous and I love this show!!!

A love story for my generation. I'm in love with this story. I love that they show black urban professionals. These are people I know. These characters are my family and friends and coworkers. Falling in love isn't easy. Telling this story can't be easy (even though Mara Brock Akil makes it look so).

This is a sad pathetic excuse of a love story. Absolutely terrible. The main characters have no chemistry. There is no reason they fell in love. The relationship he has with ex feels more natural and authentic. It's a mystery why Yasir and Nuri think they love each other. It makes absolutely no sense which makes it hard to understand why as a viewer you should invest in or root for their love. I tried getting past episode 3 but couldn't. The show is unwatchable.
  • Love this show so much. The Akils are the best! I think a lot of people will get healed from watching the show, no doubt about it.
  • This is THEE BEST show on television right now!!! The acting is so awesome, especially that Will Catlett. The way his character (Yasir) looks at Nuri and professes his love.....OMG. I feel like it's really real. And let's not talk about the music....brings me back to my younger years.... TLC, Janet Jackson, Boosty Collins..... I mean my goodness. The first episode had me smiling from ear to ear from beginning to end......I'm hooked

This show is not only amazingly great but also refreshing from all of the reality nightmares shows with black folks acting a fool that's been dominating tv. Cudos!! !! I love their love!!! I'm willing to bet all of the bad reviewers won't miss an episode of love & hip hop or housewives of whatever to see all of the ratchetness weekly. Or have ever had this kind of love. What's not to love?
  • Story beautifully portrayed...I'm saddened that it will not be back.

    EPIC TV
Immersing myself in this show is like stepping into a time capsule, reliving the vibrant essence of the 90s through its music and fashion choices. The palpable chemistry between the main characters makes me feel like an integral part of their heartfelt love story. It's a captivating display of television at its finest, leaving an indelible mark on the viewer.

I eagerly anticipate the show's potential return, hoping for more of its groundbreaking portrayal of Black love. Every episode is a satisfying experience, leaving me both fulfilled and eagerly anticipating the unfolding narrative ahead!!
  • Never had I took the time out to seach to give a movie or series a review. However I wish they can be rated more than 10. This is a show I would love to watch until they take they last breath... What makes this story more beautiful. Thru own their truth and mistakes.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Fell in love after first date...chasing a man around who is unemployed, homeless, living with his ex, meanwhile, you are a show writer? Could you not do any better? I thought it would get better but after 4 episodes, I'm done.

    Love it
I love this show sooo romantic and heart warming also how they meet and build up each other is how a relationship supposed to go come together I love this show so much I record it so I want miss a beat...
  • There is always this over the top narrative that gets cringe worthy. I'm super late to the party but I just caught this show extremely saddened it's only one season. I think the exploration of love and the dynamics of it were eye opening. Many of the the things this couple went through I'm like heck's naw I'm out but to see issues that many face in love the good bad and embarrassing it makes you question and reflect on how you may have handled love in your life. Especially BLACK LOVE! The only CON is that damn music we all love the chart toppers but I felt it so necessary in any of the scenes it came in jarring and really took away from the visual ... because you could see the emotion through the character. I hated hearing every 10-20m some song of the time which was too damn loud for the production so I'm going to take away a star. I loved EVERY actor and actress in the show! I was engaged.
  • This was a great show and how they protrayed the ups and downs of a black relationship. I'm so upset that this show was canceled WAY too soon.
  • Takes me back to the 90's with the clothing and the music. Waiting to hear Luther Vandros, A House is Not A Home. Great job, look forward to watching it every week.
  • The story is authentic and compelling! Mara & Salim have learned that the most important story we can tell is our own. Continued success!
