Deadline reports that Barry Jenkins, director of Mufasa: The Lion King, is setting up his next project and has tapped Glen Powell to star. The project is based on an upcoming novel by Matt Aldrich titled The Natural Order. Plot details have largely been kept under wraps, but it’s been described as an “elevated sci-fi thriller revolving around the pursuit of eternal life.“

In addition to directing The Natural Order, Jenkins will co-write the script with Aldrich. Jenkins will produce alongside Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak for Pastel. Powell will also produce with Dan Cohen under their new Barnstorm production company.

Four years have gone by since it was announced that Edgar Wright was coming on board to direct a new take on the novel The Running Man, which was written by Stephen King under his Richard Bachman pen name. The Running Man was, of course, previously turned into a film back in 1987 that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and had little to do with the source material. Last year, Wright’s take on the material went into production with Glen Powell of Top Gun: Maverick, Hit Man, and Twisters in the lead role – and during a recent interview, Wright described the film as “the deadliest game of hide and seek.”

King’s novel has the following description: It was the ultimate death game in a nightmare future America. The year is 2025 and reality TV has grown to the point where people are willing to wager their lives for a chance at a billion-dollar jackpot.

Variety has learned that Netflix has ordered the drama series “Nemesis,” which is co-created by Kemp and Tani Marole in his series writing debut. The official logline for the series states:

“‘Nemesis’ is the story of two men on either side of the law, the tale of what happens when an unstoppable force (an expert criminal) meets an immovable object (a brilliant police detective). What starts as a series that aims to subvert the heist genre at every turn, amped with thrilling life-or-death stakes, family dynamics and explosive action, actually gives birth to an exploration of what drives us, sustains us, and ultimately destroys us.”

Netflix is the streamer that never stops giving. Sure, the price keeps going up, but at least we get some fantastic original content for our money. We will not love everything, but even if we like half, that's a win for us and the streaming service.

Plus, at least our money is going partly toward the making of original series. Where would we be without Virgin River, for instance? Or The Night Agent? Our lives would be a lot less full of entertainment.

The CW is set to release another brand new episode of All American tonight, February 10, 2025. This one will be the second installment of the show's current season 7, and we've got a couple of spoiler scoops for it. We were able to dig up 6, new, official teaser descriptions for this new episode 2 via The CW's official episode 2 press release synopsis. So, we're going to go over all of that right now. The first piece of information we have for this new episode 2 is the official title. It's called, "Get By." This new episode 2 will feature some new scenes, featuring Cassius, Jordan, Layla, Olivia, Coop and more. We're going to see Olivia show up in at least two of the scenes. In one of them , she will be seen, learning a lesson that is life-altering. In her other scene, she will be seen, showing up to pay a tribute to her late father Billy Baker.

Exclusive: Longtime Berlanti Productions executive Jonathan Gabay has been named President of Television for film and TV production company Rideback, which recently re-upped its first-look TV deal at CBS Studios. Reporting to Rideback co-CEOs Jonathan Eirich and Michael LoFaso, Gabay will lead TV development and production, overseeing a team that includes Rideback VP Television Courteney Tarantin.

Gabay succeeds Lindsey Liberatore, who recently left as EVP Television, segueing to producing.

He comes to Rideback from Berlanti Productions. Over the past few years, the CW has rapidly transformed, slimming down its scripted slate, but All American has persisted. Renewed for season 7, the next batch of episodes, and the final show to come to Netflix from The CW deal, it will drop in 2025, and for the moment, at least, it doesn’t sound like it’s the final season. Here’s what we know about its Netflix release.

On the air since 2019, All American is the American football series created by April Blair. Now over 100 episodes, the series has followed Spencer James on his football journey from high school to the big leagues in top flight football. Season 7 of the show was announced in June 2024 with a confirmed episode count of 13. Unlike some prior seasons, it’s not expected that All American will suffer from delays, whether due to Covid or, more recently, the Hollywood strikes.

“All American” Season 7 has officially arrived and it’s to hitting the field with even more edge-of-your-seat drama.

This time around, the show’s former lead Daniel Ezra is off to the sidelines as Nathaniel McIntyre, who plays Kingston “Kj” Jeremy, hits the green as series’ new star.

Here’s a description of the seventh season: “‘All American’ Season 7 is taking it back to where it all began: Beverly Hills High and South Crenshaw High.
