It's like The O.C. collided with Friday Night Lights. It's cliche and cheesy, but it's entertaining. I went in expecting the worst and I enjoyed it.

It's your typical smart kid with athletic talent but from a rough black part of town but they're doing it with flair and style. Everything so far is cliche'd to 11 but it's done decently well and the characters seem to be able to halfway act. This should have been way worse than it was and I'll tune in next week and perhaps a few more after that.. 8/10
P.S They even made the cool friendzoned chick at the new school hotter than the one he's interested in just to show us how cliche'd they can be... but again it's all okay

This show has a little bit of a One tree hill feel to it. I was a big fan of the OTH series and I feel this show has the same potential that show has for many years. Not the greatest acting but I think it will get better. Hoping this show grows to be something great
First TV series my entire family from my wife to my 4 children from ages 16 to three actually agree on and enjoy. Very good acting and great story line so far. Can't wait for next Wednesday night.

This is the best new show of 2018. It covers all the hard topics in life and shows the struggles as well as the triumphs. It's well written with complex characters I'd want to know in real life, with enough drama to keep people interested.

The show is actually better than I thought it was going to be. Tate Diggs being an experienced actor helps. I think the overall acting is decent, they aren't going to blow you away with their acting or anything but it's okay. How do you keep this going beyond one season with the plot? I think they should have made the kid an underclassman making it easier to keep the series going for at least a few seasons.

Show started off good and interesting. Then it becomes an annoying soap opera and drags on and on like a bad after school special. Everyone is super depressing and there is rarely any football being played especially season 2. If you're really into pointless drama then this show is perfect for you.
I watched the premeire of this not exactly knowing what to expect but what I got was very very appreciated I clapped I cheered I fell in love with this show there is no better drama this fall it seems hands down terrific

Overall this show is a 6.7/10 with a pretty great first season.
Seasons 1-2 overall 8.1/10. These first two seasons were solid with genuine tension and a decent story revolving around our protagonist Spencer James. We explore his relationship with his father, his struggle to balance his life at both Beverly and Crenshaw, and trying to be involved in his community as much as possible. There were some flaws with all the political messages being propagated by you could overlook and enjoy the story.
Seasons 3-4 overall 5.6/10. These two seasons were TRASH. The show lost whatever magic it had in the first two seasons and just went on a downhill spiral. Characters became annoying and unlikable, and Spencer became this hero who needs to be involved in EVERYTHING. These two seasons were so bad I couldn't even finish season 4.

The first and second seasons were thought-provoking, well-written and you almost believe there is a consultant on staff who lived in S Central LA that gave insight into life there as opposed to the typical Hollywood cliches. The background character studies were in depth for the principle cast and the sub-plot about the family issues made the series very 3-dimensional (although at times typically sappy and predictable as once would expect from a TV series). But in season 3, the show "jumps the shark" and becomes a typical mouthpiece for Hollywood elites, crying for "defund the police" and citing a police "war on our people" (the typical talking-points of the left) and forget about the actual depth of the previous character study. Watch the first 2 seasons...then pretend the rest don't exist.

I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, the pilot really drew me in! It goes deeper than the football and has the potential for some great story lines for every single character. It's based on a true story but is slightly reminiscent of One Tree Hill in a updated and refreshing way.

As my title says it's something different,
And that's a good thing in my eyes,
Very interesting story, the old rag to riches story, done in a great new twist...
I'll be watching this to see how this story progress...
Nice history, don't pay attention to those giving 1 star, they are boring, not the show!
Very well written, it looks like a cliche, but it's more than that, it keeps you paying attention to all details and wanting more and more episodes.

Love it. i hope it will keep going the way it started.
What is it with these shows with 27 year old actors and actresses playing High School kids? And diminutive little men that are 5 foot 8 as either former, or aspiring NFL football players? Get real.

Bought into the first season binge watching on Netflix. Lots of action. Loved the characters and story line. Moved into the first part of Season 2 and all was good. Lots of turns that I didn't see and it kept me interested.
THEN...wait for it.... The RACE card was introduced full bore about Episode 4. Once the politically correct, tell me how my white privilege helps me succeed in life over others and that I'm a racist from birth kicks in...I'm out.
Fun while it lasted...

After reading that Jordan and Simone relationship may or may not have gotten married in season 3 .
I had to conclude that relationship had to be written by a woman because no self respecting man is writing that plot line.
Asher, Billy Baker, Corey James, and Darnell are the only good characters in the show. Don't watch this crap.

Season 3 is built on lies and junk. I think they missed the point this was a football story with some sub plots. There is nothing about football now, just a propaganda machine.
