It should be life in prison for taking someone's life. I think he's lucky that he not in the USA. My heart goes out to Reeva's families. I felt like the trial was not fair towards Reeva. She did not deserve to die like that. Everyone has arguments in their relationship and if we all go around and kill our girlfriend, we would be complete idiots. He said, "he though was an intruder", spare me that BS. Seriously, when their is an intruder or noise, the first person you ran to protect is girlfriend, wife or kids or try to wake up your family. I don't get it, you are trying to shoot someone in the bathroom when you though your girlfriend is in bed.
  • This film is really poorly done. This was such an important story for the South African community and it's just disrespectful that Lifetime couldn't be bothered to at least try to get the 'South African' parts right. The accents are terrible, they reference things that don't exist in SA, and for anyone from SA, it's clear that minimal research into our country was done. With a biopic the details matter. I think that if they had done those things right the story would have had so much more depth. This isn't a fictional story and it should have been done right.

    Warning: Spoilers
The main complaint I keep seeing in the reviews is that the accents are wrong/not enough like the real SA. I don't know how the axxents can be wrong when at the very least the man portraying Oscar Pistorious is literally from SA and he is the one who directed the movie too. I'm sure he knows the importance of the events. I would say the possible reason of the court scenario not being 100% accurate as far as them having a jury when SA does not have jury's is because it may make it "easier" for Americans to follow along but I think that's unfair of the directors to think we couldn't follow along. But there is no telling the exact reason for this. This is a great movie and got both sides very fairly and I think that's great considering there was no in between as people were either Team Oscar or Team Guilty.

This killing captured headlines all over the world and dominated news outlets for weeks during the trial. This movie made things clearer by dramatizing the events. Both Pistorius's point of view and what the prosecution think happened are shown. There is a lot of back and forth and maybe there could have been less. Quite an interesting portrait of the couple's relationship and a bit about personality of the hero of disabled sports. In the first part when it's his point of view I felt maybe it was as he said, then when the other perspectives were shown with the prosecution's reconstruction I felt that must have been the way things unfolded. Whatever really happened it made me want to check out more about the events.

The cast is quite okay. It's good they chose South African actor and a European actress for the leads. Not being able to catch everything they said kept things believable.

    Worth watching.
  • I had no particular interest but curiosity to watch this movie on TV. In retrospective if anything I probably would have prefered it to have been a fictional work. But it's not and I feel it is a case of "he says, they say". Being a film with some entertainment value being of some priority, one can not criticise too much how dramatised it was. I prefer straight stories with limited flash back. I regret the actor had a very different look than Oscar. And not sure about the South African accent, I thought it should have been a little stronger but, yes, I'm unsure. It was reasonably acted though and as a fiction would have been also reasonably entertaining. I guess I was too busy to analyse the pros and cons of the account about it. But I find it difficult to believe he could have been innocent. I just felt some people who are used to get what they want may stop at nothing to achieve such a goal. He proved this in his sport. I understand his family is suing the film company, obviously in disagreement with it's representation of the facts... However I'm surprised to see so little reviews here and apologise for not really being an objective reviewer and neither being much talented to review at all, yet I love to do it!

Like the other person said, the film doesn't show just one side of the story. One of the best Lifetime movies of all time.

The acting was good and we finally got to see Oscar's bad side.
  • I actually bought this movie lifetime is getting better with their movies this one was pretty good
