It was very suspense until the end and it seemed like everyones dark secrets came to surface. And then the eclipse turns the time around and suddenly the game hadnt been played which doesnt change a lot since a girl has been impregnated and they've all cheated on each other so thing will eventually come out to surface again.

I don't like films that cheat. Like you watch a film and find it was all a dream. That is what this dumb ending does. A shame as it was good until they left the party. There was much at stake in the game they played - lives were destroyed - and then order is absurdly restored.
  • People lead interesting secret lives. We think we know each other but when the phones are out and the texts and calls start coming all bets are off. You hide your truths from the people you think you love but when the truth starts coming out, wow. Good movie, very truthful.

After I watched this, I just sat there and stared at the tv thinking WTF did I just watch? I was really thrown at the end, which wasn't even the first twist. I normally love a happy ending, but this one ruined it for me.

Also, it really drives home "don't judge a book by its cover" because the ones you are quick to pass judgement on are sometimes the most innocent, and sometimes the most corrupt are the most charming.

This movie made me want to be a part of the dinner table. To be a part of their lives, to know a friend for thirty-five years and still be a part of their life. To love and to be loved. To share joy and jokes while breaking bread with one another.

When the facade drops I wished to be by myself away from the table. However the ending made me reconsider this. Maybe this is how society is, how people behave and how dissatisfied everyone is with their lives. The fickle nature of humanity is what ultimately leads to change whether positive or otherwise.

PS: The advice the father gave to his daughter was one of the best written movie scenes I have watched.
  • If you've seen the original Italian film Perfect Strangers, this movie would seem like a cheap remake with a couple things that have been changed. However, if you haven't seen the original, it is a decent movie.

The movie starts off well enough, the characters trickle into the dinner party and during their meal they decide to play a game where everyone has to put their phones on the table and read aloud everything that comes up. The night then descends into chaos.

While the premise is decent, the message is a little heavy handed with characters saying what the audience should be left to determine.

The movie seems to drone on for a bit as things begin to unfold, but does pick up as the characters' secrets are revealed. The drama gets to be a little much, but nothing outside of modern cinema.

The ending itself would have been great if it was original. However, because this is a remake, I knew what was going to happen. And the audience doesn't have to find the message because the characters already did that for us.

That's why I gave this movie 7/10, most people probably have not seen the original, so it would come across as good. But for those of us who have seen it, it does not change enough in order for it to be anything else but a simple remake.
  • Nothing to hide is a truly terrific film, it was fresh, imaginative and funny. It featured truly interesting characters, and dealt with a subject that most of us wonder about, but generally never act in, 'what if we could read the messages of our partners.'

I can't always cope with films when they're dubbed into English, but this is that good, I found myself not even taking any notice. The actors are all hugely charismatic and believable. The writing is smart, and delivers plenty of twists to throw you off guard. I also loved the what if ending.

    A triumph. 9/10

    Great
Well made and I loved the ending, despute some other comments. It is really a tough film tough, with everyone keeping such horrible secrets feom each other.
  • So I found out after watching this French film that it is a remake of the an Italian film; Perfect Strangers - English title. So while I can't really assess the movie based on how its been remade into a French version, I can say I loved the script, the plot and the acting. It is simple films like these which show you that you don't need an outrageous movie budget to thoroughly captivate an audience. I'm still feeling 'giddy' from watching it!! Finally, Apologies if this comes off somewhat pretentious but there is a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, tender is the night, that provides the perfect synopsis for this movie; "I want to give a really BAD party. I mean it. I want to give a party where there's a brawl and seductions and people going home with their feelings hurt and women passed out in the cabinet de toilette. You wait and see." I choose to think if Dick Diver (I.e. Scott Fitzgerald) had to throw a party in this day and age, he would throw the party portrayed in this movie. (But perhaps with a bit more alcohol involved...)
  • I would say its a Worth watch even u are a Fan of italian original version Perfect strangers... The cast is Great nd so do direction... The tension was gripping As much as original Did... Nothing more to say.. Go nd watch it asap
  • This movie was just amazing, it was so cool the see a movie that is still so captivating even though there are just people sitting by a table. I recommend to everyone, and hope that people like it as much as I did.
  • For the first time I watch a creative french movie ! I think we all have secrets living in our phones but the scenario has lost us at the end sadly :(

The idea of the movie and the acting is really nice, but that´s all. The main problem is that the results of the experiment are overdrawn. Why is nearly every relationship between the friends fractured and why are most of the couple somehow betraying each other? But this would also completely fine for me, when the characters try to overcome their problems. However, the magic of the moon made them forget what happened during the night and they live happily ever after... For me the movie would be a way better when everyone tries to deal with their problems and we could see how the succeed and met a few months later.
  • At first I found this totally absurd that a bunch of adults would have a game such is what is played in this, and almost quit watching it. But about 3/4 through, it starts getting interesting. Though I still cannot find this believable, it was still very entertaining towards the end.
  • The film in the first 30 min was a little bit BORING, it tried to start, but... Nahh..... After the BORING start you get a little bit of funny, a little bit of drama. Its all cool until the ending... The film comes with a very mature writing, a very actual society critism but in the end couldnt confess, and all the critism and the lesson ramains priceless, because "in all relationships could be some secrets.. '' and in the end of the day its doesent inspired me because its awful ending... Imagine a gay guy who wants to make a coming out... Will he do after this movie? I dont think so... Maybe if he doesent watch the film until the end.. Overall i loved this film, its a pleasure to watch it has some funny, some VERY TENSIONATE moments, but the starring and the ending is somewhere very disappointing. If you could watch this? Apsolutely YES. Its a great experience, but you dont have to take seriously the Last 15 minutes, because if you take the film loses its originality, exc. In my eyes!

Great movie and makes you think. Acting and plot is excellent. Ending was a surprise as well. The storyline is probably very true in many cases in life's situations.

I think people don't really understand the plot twist. All of the secrets are all real but the only difference is they didn't come out, and the only people who know about them are the holders of the secrets AND US, THE AUDIENCE. That's pretty intriguing and dark if you think about it. We watch them all go along as they think they are happy and in their "perfect" relationships and all we have in our minds is "Oh poor girl." "Poor guy." "Only if they knew. "
  • Nice movie, didn't know it was a remake of a italian movie from 2016. Made me think of "what's in a name" from 2012, a dinner party that starts off innocent but ends up in revealing secrets. Because of the similarities I felt I had seen this before, and it was better executed in "what's in a name". They were however differnet enough for me to enjoy both, but I feel I will be revisiting "whats in a name" but not this one. Anyway, good but not great.

So honestly the only reason I decided to write a review is to let everyone know this really isn't a comedy at all. I watched it in the original French and never laughed once. Interesting movie/story but I was personally looking for something fun and light hearted at the time and it just made me feel like crap because just reminded me how terrible the human race is.

This movie is super entertaining and all of the little twist will have your jaw dropped and laughing. I love how the characters work so well together and the end will leave you completely shocked. Really entertaining
  • 3.5 couples come together for a dinner party. Supposedly they are old friends. Most of the characters are unlikeable in one way or another, and certainly they are inconsiderate of each other. Why they get together at all doesn't make much sense. They agree, most reluctantly, to pool their phones and make their social media messages, phone messages, etc., public to each one of them. We discover that most of them are just as nasty as we might have expected. They all seem to suffer from schadenfreude. The ending is odd and undercuts any point the film may have been attempting to make. One is left with not very much.

I love European films, and this didn't disappoint. The French language adds a certain artistic element to the English viewer, and Gregory Gadebois adds his understated excellence to it. The dining around the table is both reminiscent of times in France and so "every day" that is sets the backdrop really well. I take it from other reviews that this is a remake of another film, one I'd like to see, if this is anything to go by. Funny, realistic, well acted, emotional, and passionate in equal measure.
  • I know this film already had 20+ remakes as of this writing (from the original Italian version) but this is the first version that I loved and liked when i watched it way back. I had to look up the title co'z i want it to be in the list of my 10s in imdb. This is a film that every movie lover should see. Great writing, great script and story... a kind of social commentary on "reality" - and on this particular version, I would have to commend the actors for doing a great job. All actors are perfect on their respective roles. An intriguing take on relationships, friendships and individual struggles. This is a gem.

I think it's really confusing to see that the movie ended with such lies and betrayal people to be hidden forever. No one of them is loyal!
