Jay-Z is one of the biggest artists in the music industry at present. The American rapper has shattered the glass ceiling several times in his career as a musician. Not only is he an incredible rapper, but he is also known to not sit quietly when someone disrespects his family.
This was the case when sports commentator Stephen A. Smith unfairly compared Rihanna and Beyoncé. The Empire State of Mind singer spoke up and put Smith in his place for pitting his wife against Rihanna.

Rihanna took the stage for her full-length concert in eight years at, of all places, a wedding ceremony in Jamnagar, India.
The pop singer was reportedly paid at least $6 million to play a private gig celebrating the nuptials of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Indian billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani, and his bride-to-be, Radhika Merchant.
According to Setlist.fm, Rihanna’s setlist consisted of 19 songs and included performances of “Bitch Better Have My Money,” “Wild Thoughts,” “Rude Boy,” Work,” “We Found Love,” “Umbrella,” Stay,” and “Diamonds.” Watch fan-captured footage below.
While Rihanna headlined the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show and also performed at last year’s Academy Awards, her appearance at Anant and Radhika’s wedding marked her first full-length concert since November 2016.
Ambani previously spent over $100 million for Anant’s sister Isha’s wedding in 2018, which included a private performance from Beyoncé.

Milo Ventimiglia was just 19 years old and starting out in Hollywood when he was cast as a gay teen in the 1996 short, “Must Be the Music.” You’d think his team would have advised him not to play queer, but Ventimiglia says he received nothing but support to sign on.
“I played a gay teenager who is going out with his friends, meets a guy but his buddy’s best friend is already kind of sweet on that guy,” Ventimiglia remembered. “Then he ends up giving them a ride home and he gets the guys number. It was a very sweet story.”
The short was produced by Gus Van Sant.
“That’s the great thing about being an actor,” the “This Is Us” star said at the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday. “You play a lot of different roles. You represent a lot of roles. You represent a lot of stories.

The group handed its top trophy to the Daniels for Everything Everywhere All at Once last year, and Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert went on to snag the Academy Award a month later, becoming only the third duo to claim that prized statuette.

“All I see is dollar signs,” sings Rihanna, strutting along a catwalk stretching the length of a football stadium while hundreds of dancers, wearing the skimpiest white ski jackets a designer could envisage, gyrate hurriedly out of her path. Well quite.
Roughly six minutes ago, an American football game was under way. Now one of the world’s biggest pop stars is descending from a vast string of floating platforms resembling a stairway from heaven to blast through a 12-minute medley of monster hits in her first public performance in five years. Frankly, 200 million viewers worldwide are somewhat blinded by the cash too.

Rihanna returned to the music scene in a big way on Sunday night.
The proven hitmaker performed during the halftime show at Super Bowl 57 and featured some of her biggest hits.
Cramming 17 years' worth of hits into the set must have been tough, and in the end, we were treated to the following songs:

"Where Have You Been"
"Only Girl (In the World)"
"We Found Love"
"Rude Boy"
"Work"
"Pour It Up"
"All of the Lights"
"Run This Town"
"Umbrella"
"Diamonds"
That was a lot of songs for a 13-minute set, right?
"The setlist was the biggest challenge. That was the hardest part — deciding how to maximize 13 minutes, but also celebrate," Rihanna said in an interview ahead of the performance.

Will the NFL, Rihanna and Apple Music think that I’m being critical when I call the halftime show at Sunday’s Super Bowl Lvii one of the most cohesive in the game’s history?
Nobody thinks of “cohesive” as being an especially effusive adjective, nor has the Super Bowl halftime show ever really aspired to cohesion. You know why? Because cohesion doesn’t move the needle. Cohesion is uniform and consistent, and the Super Bowl halftime show is usually all about the moments that stem from “Holy crap!” deviations.
That’s why most of the more recent halftime spectaculars have had a headliner, and then they’ve had surprising or unsurprising guest stars, sometimes from completely incompatible genres or with head-scratching disparities in star power. Like, I know it was the 50th Super Bowl, but how the blazes did we have a year in which Coldplay was the top...

The Barbados-born pop singer didn’t hold back one bit during her career-spanning set, playing some of her biggest hits — “Umbrella,” “We Found Love,” and “Diamonds” — alongside standout features on “All of the Lights” and “Run This Town.” Making the breathtaking performance even more impressive is the fact she did so while pregnant. A baby bump was visible throughout her performance, and afterwards a representative for the singer confirmed that she is indeed expecting her second child.
Clad in a red jumpsuit, Rihanna showed no fear as she was lowered down to the stage on a floating platform to open the performance. Choreographed dancers surrounded Rihanna when she touched down, and though the superstar obviously wasn’t able to move as freely as she would otherwise, she still held her own.

Following rampant speculation during Rihanna‘s Super Bowl Lvii Halftime Show, it is official: The singer is pregnant with her second child. A representative confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter soon after the performance, which saw Rihanna sporting a red outfit that highlighted her baby bump. Rihanna performed a medley of her hits, without any special guest performers, as tend to join the halftime headliner, at the State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona. For her nearly 15-minute performance, she sang her hits including “Bitch Better Have My Money,” “Where Have You Been,” “Only Girl in the World,” “We Found Love,” “Work,” “All of the Lights,” “Run This Town,” “Umbrella,” and “Diamonds.” Her stage was both in the air — platforms floating above the football field (so let’s just say we were happy to — and on the ground — runways — with her dancers in white joining her ...

This summer, five A&r veterans convened on Zoom to discuss racism in the music industry. As protests erupted around the country after the killing of George Floyd, various music companies made statements supporting equality and announced donations to organizations fighting for racial justice. This virtual panel was notably different — instead of offering feel-good bromides about inclusivity, the participants discussed the ways that the music industry is complicit in systemic racism.
The five men took turns speaking bluntly about the bias they faced while working at labels, even as highly successful executives.

The dark comedy series would detail the rise and fall of the controversial Ford, who served as the mayor of Toronto from 2010 to 2014 after many years as a city councilor. He was infamously caught on video smoking crack cocaine during his reelection campaign and was known to suffer from other substance abuse issues.

At 23 years old, Jasiel Correia became the youngest person ever to be elected mayor of Fall River, Massachusetts — and likely one of the youngest mayors anywhere ever — in 2015. He flourished, and was elected again in November 2017, but soon found himself in hot water after arrests on fraud and extortion charges, including allegedly using his own funds to defraud investors and extorting vendors. Correia ran again in November 2019, and though he lost, he still reportedly came in third place. The drama is depicted in the new Quibi series “Run This City,” and IndieWire has the exclusive first trailer, below.
“Run This City” is executive produced by Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg and directed by award-winning Canadian filmmaker Brent Hodge, “Run This Town” follows Jasiel Correia as he navigates the role of newbie mayor, and the FBI indicts his former company while he fights the charges. The series will launch alongside the Quibi...

As expected, the coronavirus pandemic is hitting the box office hard, as many are under self-quarantine in an effort to flatten the curve. Some patrons are braving the outbreak, but as seen in preliminary box office numbers, it seems that many theaters are closing or limiting numbers. Patrons are opting to stay home, which is a good sign to see that people are taking precautions. However, the box office is seeing very low numbers and the specialty space is particularly feeling the impact.
New films being released in theaters are underperforming, landing between a low of 20% to a high of 35% in terms of projected numbers. Holdovers are also seeing a drop — more than usual. We have seen a handful of theater closings in New York, Philadelphia, D.C., Boston, and Seattle, and this may or may not continue in the upcoming week.

Despite a handful of films postponing their release dates as a precautionary measure in the wake of the coronavirus, the specialty box office is persevering and hoping that arthouse audience will come through. Last week, A24’s First Cow delivered a career-high opening for Kelly Reichardt — but that was before the coronavirus turned into a pandemic. With events being canceled, the rise of concern and social-distancing becoming a common practice, we’ll have to see how this will impact the limited release titles, which is a very different creature than wide-release titles.
Leading the pack this week is the Focus Features title Never Rarely Sometimes Always directed by Eliza Hittman and starring Sidney Flanigan, Talia Ryder, Théodore Pellerin, Ryan Eggold and Sharon Van Etten. The story follows two teenage girls in rural Pennsylvania. Faced with an unplanned pregnancy and a lack of support, Autumn (Flanigan) and her cousin Skylar (Ryder...

The Vampire Diaries had several guest stars throughout its eight-season run, and one of them could have been Taylor Swift.
Nina Dobrev dropped the bombshell while promoting her new movie Run This Town, and it appears she the show's leading lady would have liked it.
"Yeah, I remember at the very beginning we heard that Taylor Swift was a fan of the show," Dobrev dished to E!'s Pop of the Morning.
"And then the producers tried to write a role for her. It didn't work out schedule-wise, obviously she wasn't on the show, but that was a surprising one."
Swift is one of the most popular artists on the planet, so her schedule being too stacked makes sense. Sometimes, it all comes down to the schedule.
Swift is no stranger to the small screen. She previously played Haley Jones on an episode of CSI in 2009, and Elaine on a 2013 episode of New Girl.
