In the opening montage of previous scenes, a packing slip shows that Freeland is in Georgia. This scene takes place in a warehouse, which corresponds to the previous episode, but it seems to have been left on the cutting room floor.

This Is How to Develop Characters!
"And the Devil Brought the Plague: The Book of the Green Light," is a remarkably interesting episode of Black Lightning. This is an episode meant for backstory and character development. Depth is not an issue here as we learn more about the Pierce family, aka Jefferson's father, Alvin, and the sad childhood of Tobias Whale. Jefferson spent most of the episode as Black Lightning. The show continues its hard-political nature. There was an instance, for example, where Black Lightning stopped these white cops from shooting a kid high on Green Light. "Use tasers next time" Jeff said. There was also a scene later in the episode where a white person said he would be lauded as a hero for taking out Black Lighting. Scenes like these are a great example how this show tackles real racial issues.

In this episode, Jefferson receives a phone call which makes him want to investigate the death of his father, Alvin. Alvin was investigating humans that had "superhero" abilities. That might have been why he was doomed, as he was murdered by Tobias. Anissa decided to start her own investigation on Alvin by collecting all of these newspaper clippings. Tobias and his sister, Tori visit their elderly father. Tobias had a rough childhood because his father picked on him for being an Albino. This time, Tobias is to return the favor. Tobias also pays Gambi a visit to find out the truth about Black Lightning. We learn that Gambi is/was part of an organization known as the A.S.A or the American Security Agency. Finally, within the domestic fronts, Jennifer might need to learn how to control her temper.

Overall, I really liked this episode. While not heavy on the action, there are great moments of character development. I really liked learning about Tobias and the revenge of his father makes for a wonderful scene. I also liked to see that despite having major reservations, Inspector Henderson has worked with Black Lightning in the past. Gosh, Peter Gambi is such a mysterious character, isn't he? What are his real intentions?
