  • Looking very much like a pilot for TV series Legal Action casts Eric Close as an action hero type lawyer who when we meet him has a 39 case winning streak when his ex-wife Tanya Clarke calls on him for a freebie. Her brother who has been a bad boy all his life is accused of murdering the District Attorney and it looks like he was nailed at the courthouse with murder weapon in hand. Kevin Sizemore is looking guilty as sin.

Nevertheless Close takes the case and even hires an investigator, an old reprobate played by Nick Searcy.

Behind all the villainy is a really scary dude replete with Scottish accent played by Tommy Flanagan. But Close is a man who does believe in out of court settlements when he can get them. The settlement is most definitely out of court and in the tradition of the old west.

This might get picked up as a series. Nothing great but I've seen worse made into a series.

It's not really that bad of a movie except for the music that plays in the background 98% of the time.
  • What is strange about this movie is the never ending sound track. The music plays in the background throughout the entire movie. It's corny and, after awhile, very distracting. The camera shots and scene editing often don't make sense. There are random camera angles and shots added that don't relate to the plot. The writing and character lines are like something written in high school with cheesy one liners and winks. Literal winks. I agree with some of the other reviews that this movie is more like a long pilot for a low budget sitcom. The plot is predictable. So is the ending. I don't recommend this movie.

    Why?
The idea was good enough but why the stupid music throughout? I didn't know if I was watching a western comedy or what. Then, the one liners and corny jokes were over the top. Why can't we just have a good PG movie that isn't cheesy??

The acting is OK for the most part, nothing noteworthy and the story is nothing new. This is one of those movies that would be fine to watch for free when nothing else is on. Fans of Walker Texas Ranger/Matlock series will probably be this movies biggest fans. The production values are very shoddy. Solitary confinement right off a commercial kitchen? A prison showing a prefab temporary building and gas pumps? Camara shots of knick knacks instead of character movements? A DA office door leading directly into the courtroom? Usually, even when watching low budget movies, I don't get hung up on how the producer saved money on filming but between the locations, single camara angles, editing and overall production this movie emphasises the low, low end of the scale. I also think that if this were to be made into a series it would only survive if it managed to capture the Walker TR crowd. It would need some serious sophistication upgrades to appeal to a wider audience.
  • Loved this movie. It's true this appeared to be pilot for a weekly show. We want to see more of these same characters. This laid out the premise for a good old boy lawyer going after he bad guys. Need to keep his sidekick PI and his bad ass wife, too! Please make more of these! And it was PG so the whole family could see it.

Somewhat entertaining but predictable. The music throughout the movie was awful. Similar to. Texas Ranger Walker. Skip.
  • For starters, when the big shot city lawyer heads for the country he drives out of his three car garage in a well preserved old Mustang. When he arrives on the scene he dons one of the biggest cowboy hats I've ever seen. And that's how it goes. One cliche after another until it's over about an hour and a half later. The plot isn't worth discussing.

A rather banal story of goog vs evil and you know who wins! The bad guy with the Scottish brogue was the most interesting characterization.
  • I let this play in the background while I made dinner after I stopped being interested 12 minutes in. The music choices?? Just a stupid waste of time.
  • Good old western style movie set in modern times. Lots of action & actors were awesome. Gives you hope that there are still good guys out there. My wife and I loved it. Great movie!
  • Legal Action was doomed from the script. A movie written without a clear understanding of where it was going: Court room drama, Small town think piece, Classic Western, Protagonist vigilante... The writer(s) decided to try it all. Throw some overt Christian theme and some Bibles on the set, you'd have the genre where this "movie" really belongs. If your looking for a story artfully created, keep looking.

Why does it show the city of Nashville but doesn't take place in Nashville and is filmed in Georgia??? Acting is pretty good and Eric is an awesome actor anyways. But they need to focus more on actual location then just a shot of another city.

I wish this would have been picked up as a regular series. I loved it! Hot lawyer, good with a gun, high morals; plus a great supporting cast of characters. Too bad😞

I just happened to come across this movie by accident and I'm glad I found it. The wife and I both really enjoyed it. It was a light hearted and fun. It was a movie the entire family could enjoy. I could not wait for the showdown that you knew was coming at the end. Overall the wife and I gave it two thumbs up. A very enjoyable movie.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The camaraderie was wonderful to take in between Eric, Nick and Gregory. Nice romance as well. Nothing over the top or too far, it was just the right touch. I also enjoyed the gunslinger angle. Thanks for making a movie that we can enjoy as a family that was just a fun story without any agenda. Even though it was included on Prime, I'll buy it anyway and happy to support great entertainment.
  • This is what impressed me most about this film was that it rides the edge of being really hokey, but they pull it off really well. The plot line is really well done and the characters are maybe a little cliché, but they are really likable.

I compare it to the western genre because the lawyer (Eric Close) comes across as the gunslinger riding into the town controlled by the Scottish robber baron (Tommy Flanagan). The lawyer/gunslinger is driven by the motive of getting the girl, who is his ex-wife (Tanya Clarke). There's the side kick from all the westerns played by Nick Searcy and Gregory Alan Williams does a great job in his role as the state's attorney.

The western genre is my favorite type of film and I really enjoy when a film can expound on those values.

    Solid
This was a solid action, crime drama, mystery, feel-good movie. Eric Close was great. Loved the interaction with Tanya's Clarke. Excellent supporting role by Nick Searcy. Loved it.
  • This is a great movie for light family viewing. I saw the neutral and negative comments but I decided to give it a try and I don't regret it. It's not an Oscar winner nor an art-house flick. But if you want an easy escape for an evening, you won't go wrong with this. It's like a very good made-for-tv movie and I will recommend it to my friends. Thanks for the hard work from all the cast and crew. You did your job by entertaining us for a couple hours.
  • It's a cute movie, but what lifts it from being a cutesy Hallmark or Lifetime thing is Nick as "Solomon" aka "Ex". Also the DA played by Gregory Alan Williams breathes life into his character.

While it was slow in some spots, it was wholesome. A feel-good type show where you can guess most of the plot points, but it's still entertaining.
  • Nicely written, and the choice of actors for the "characters" is amazing. They all have the "look" of the kind of people they play.

There is no vulgar language or senseless violence. If you like to see good win out over evil, then you will love this film.

For a while, you are on the "edge of your seat", wondering how the "underdog" can ever get Justice. That is what "entertainment" is all about. Unlike many shows where the prosecution and the defense are at odds with one another, this film depicts both sides cooperating with one another, looking for justice, not "victory". Watch it if you can. You will be Entertained.
  • OMG, I stumbled across this movie and loved it. I don't understand why its not a weekly series. It's better than Walker. I would watch it, I'm sure others would too. A kick ass lawyer, what's not to love?
