In a new trailer, a CNN anchor is heard saying that “U.N. officials are now openly attributing the recent uptick in ethnic tension to powerful new generative AI tools unveiled last week on Traam,” referring to a social media platform owned by Smith’s character, Venis.

“I just wanna say this is not on you, Venis,” says Hugo (Schwartzman). Venis replies, “Obviously this is not on me. Why would you even say that?”

As the news gets worse, the men begin to think about their place in the crisis.

CNN is attempting to dive back into the digital world. The network already has a streaming presence on Max, but as the world of cable news continues to evolve, the self-described most trusted name in news is seeking to expand its reach to audiences who do not consume programming via traditional TV. The New York Times reports that CNN is gearing up to launch its new streaming service before the end of 2025, and hoping that it can keep the streamer afloat longer than its last effort in that space.

Key Details: Autumn launch: The new CNN streamer will launch at some point this fall. Reign it in: The service will be more “stripped down” than the ill-fated CNN+. Going faster: CNN has also launched Fast channels to help grow its digital audience.

Sony Pictures Television (Spt) has taken global on Peacock’s The Miniature Wife starring Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen.

Spt will sell the show produced by Media Res outside the States.

Revealed by Deadline last year, The Miniature Wife is a high-concept comedy that examines the power imbalances between spouses—played by Banks (Pitch Perfect) and Macfadyen—who battle each other for supremacy after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis.

Odeya Rush has joined the cast of “Corporate Retreat.” The ensemble for the horror-thriller includes Simona Tabasco (“White Lotus”), Alan Ruck (“Succession”), Ashton Sanders (“Moonlight”), and Rosanna Arquette (“Pulp Fiction”). Principal photography on the film is set to begin in June.

HBO and Max content chief Casey Bloys has explained their weekly release strategy. During a Milken Institute Global Conference panel on the future of the entertainment industry, as reported by Deadline, he claimed that this strategy works for them.

HBO and Max are something of an exception in the industry, still releasing their shows on a predominantly weekly schedule unlike the binge format Netflix championed. Bloys shared that their strategy has been inspired by financial considerations, but that it also doesn't hurt when drawing out a season's release keeps the show in the audience's head longer.

“Part of the reason we do it is we don’t have the ability to have a new series every week. There’s a difference between dropping a new series every week and a new episode. That is a big financial difference,” he explained.

Discovery shared new details about its decision that its streaming competitor clearly inspired. The add-on feature will cost $7.99 per month, regardless of the primary account owner's plan.
