Hulu is adapting Clive Barker’s story collection, Books of Blood, as a movie, adding Star Trek director Brannon Braga and a stacked cast.
Books of Blood, the 1984-1985 six-volume short story collection that first brought maestro of macabre Clive Barker to prominence, is getting a feature film treatment. However, don’t expect to find said film at theaters, VOD, or, for that matter, even Netflix. – It’s coming to Hulu!
Brannon Braga, the veteran writer and producer of the Star Trek franchise, will be the driving force behind Hulu’s Books of Blood in a move that will certainly delight Trekkies… well, the ones who can appreciate hellishly twisted creatures and ambulatory flayed people. The project will be the feature directorial debut for Braga, who’s also serving as executive producer, set to co-write with Adam Simon, who worked with him on Wgn America series Salem.

To say that Bryan Singer is a controversial filmmaker would be to deal in wild understatement.
This is, after all, the man who has been trailed by allegations of rape and sexual assault since the early 90s, during which time he was lauded for The Usual Suspects and several other features. Singer then graduated into Hollywood’s big leagues with X-Men and its rather brilliant sequel, X2, but the accusations were never too far behind.
Case in point: The Atlantic recently ran a story about Singer’s alleged victims earlier this month, prompting widespread anger and, frankly, disbelief, given the director fully expects to keep hold of his plum $10 million directing gig on Red Sonja. As a matter of fact, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he currently stands to earn upwards of $40 million from the success of Bohemian Rhapsody, too.

In light of the damning allegations leveled against Bryan Singer, the movie’s estranged director, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation have formally revoked Bohemian Rhapsody‘s nomination for Outstanding Film, a category in which it was supposed to compete against Deadpool 2, Blockers, Crazy Rich Asians, The Girl in the Spider’s Web and Greg Berlanti’s warm and fuzzy romance, Love, Simon.
GLAAD, a media monitoring organization by trade, issued the following statement with regards to Singer’s latest scandal.
Due to the report of unspeakable harms endured by young men and teenage boys brought to light a reality that cannot be ignored or even tacitly rewarded.

Kung Fury 2, a sequel to David Sandberg’s quirky 1980s-inspired action-comedy short, is bringing major star power.
Kung Fury 2 is certainly a curiosity, seeing as average moviegoers would, upon exposure, ask, “What the hell is Kung Fury?” However, said moviegoers will know soon enough when it heads to the big screen.
The film, as its title implies, is a sequel – just not to anything theatrically-released. Rather, it follows up the 2015 action-comedy short, Kung Fury. The short saw David Sandberg serve as director and star as the titular character, a 1980s-era kung-fu-fighting Miami police detective who – thanks to a buddy’s technical wizardry to “hack time” – is on an action-packed, ostentatiously ‘80s-style hunt for Adolph Hitler (a.k.a. Kung Fuhrer), as played by The Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone. – Yes, it’s damn hilarious.
