British actress Aimee Lou Wood, who stars in the third season of The White Lotus currently airing on HBO, says she may be able to pull off a perfect US accent, but nobody ever mistakes her for American due to her teeth.

Wood told The Sun newspaper the show’s creator Mike White wanted her to stick with her northern English tones for the show in which she plays Chelsea, the much younger lover of Rick, played by Walton Goggins.

She said: “I can do an American accent. But Mike just wanted my Manchester one. I did one tape in American and one in my own. And he said, ‘Let’s do Manchester.’”

Alexander Westwood, a 24-year-old British actor who worked on Netflix’s “Sex Education” in the background cast, has been sentenced to 15 and a half years in jail for 26 offenses including rape and sexual assault, according to the BBC.

Westwood denied each offense when he was found guilty in December. For 11 of the offenses, his sentence was reduced by half because he was a minor when those crimes were committed.

The judge presiding over the case said during the sentencing that Westwood “used his minor celebrity status to prey on impressionable, innocent, young girls,” the BBC reports. Per IMDb, Westwood appeared in 17 episodes of “Sex Education” as an uncredited student and two episodes of the U.K. series “Doctors” in two different uncredited roles.

Alexander Westwood, a British actor who appeared in multiple episodes of hit Netflix series Sex Education, has been jailed after being found guilty of 26 sex offenses.

Westwood was sentenced to 15-and-a-half years in prison after raping a 16-year-old and sexually abusing another teenager who came to him for acting lessons.

BBC News reported that Westwood smirked in the dock as the details of his crimes were read out at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Judge Neil Chawla said Westwood had used his status and credits on shows, including BBC series Doctors, to prey on impressionable teenagers.

Sex Education star Emma Mackey has described starring in Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s Hot Milk as a “baptism of fire.”

The movie premiered at the Berlin Film Festival today and is the debut directing project for She Said scribe Lenkiewicz.

Mackey said filming was tough but she heaped praise on Lenkiewicz. “We had to come in on a baptism of fire – it was hot and we didn’t have much time – but [Lenkiewicz] created that environment and surrounded yourself with the right amount of people.”

Based on the novel by Deborah Levy, Hot Milk sees Mackey play Sofia, who embarks on a journey to a Spanish clinic in a search of a medical cure for her mother Rose’s paralysis. Rose is played by Fiona Shaw and Vicky Krieps stars as Ingrid in the movie, which is distributed by Mubi.

Mackey said there was a “huge amount of trust” on set, which “helped me feel freer.

The National Theatre production of Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest,” starring Ncuti Gatwa, has unveiled a trailer ahead of its cinema release on Feb. 20.

The trailer begins with Gatwa, dressed to the nines in a pink gown and matching gloves, playing a piano riff before leaning back to give viewers a sassy wink. Various clips of the filmed performance then tease the show’s offbeat humor, glamorous costumes and talented cast.

The “Doctor Who” and “Sex Education” star plays Algernon Moncrief, a witty yet idle bachelor, alongside Hugh Skinner’s Jack Worthing in the production reimagined by Max Webster.

The production team behind Netflix’s Black Mirror has a new series, Toxic Town, set to arrive on the streaming platform sometime this year. Netflix has released the first image (above) for the four-part limited series starring Jodie Whittaker and Robert Carlyle, which traces the true story of the Corby toxic waste case from the UK.

A town in Northamptonshire, Corby was once home to steel works which were shuttered in 1981. However, the toxic waste left behind contaminated the area, leading to health issues for those who lived there. An investigation and subsequent case found that the Corby Borough Council’s actions in moving the waste led to birth defects, namely, an above-average number of Corby residents born with upper-limb defects. Netflix's series will center primarily on the mothers whose children were affected. Per the official synopsis for Toxic Town:

Networks like the CW, Freeform and Fox were once a treasure trove of teen TV, with slates packed with series like “The O.C.,” “Gossip Girl,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “90210.” But as younger audiences completely shun linear, these networks have largely abandoned teen programming.

Ratings for the CW and Freeform, two networks that used to be teen-centric, dropped 30% and 22%, respectively, from 2022 to 2023.

Today streaming is a haven for YA programs viewers once found on network TV. Disney+ and BBC treated Doctor Who fans around the world to a glimpse of what’s to come in 2025 with a teaser for Ncuti Gatwa’s second season of the long-running science-fiction series.

The trailer (below), which dropped during the annual Christmas Special “Joy to the World,” features a first look at the new batch of episodes starring Gatwa (Netflix’s Sex Education) as the Fifteenth Doctor and Varada Sethu as the new Tardis companion.

New Companion

British actress Sethu is already known to Doctor Who fans, as she appeared in the 2024 episode “Boom,” written by former showrunner Steven Moffat, who returned to write “Joy to the World.” Sethu played a character called Mundy Flynn. However this time, Sethu will be playing Belinda Chandra. Will the two be related? Only time will tell, as the preview keeps that secret.

Gillian Anderson played the skeptical Dana Scully for nine seasons of The X-Files, one of the popular and influential sci-fi series of the 1990s. She returned to play Scully in a pair of revival seasons in 2016 and 2018, but called it quits after that. In a lengthy conversation with X-Files co-star David Duchovny (Fox Mulder), Anderson explained why she no longer wanted to continue starring in the spooky series after the 11th season ended in 2018.

“The end was problematic," Anderson said on Duchovny's Fail Better podcast. "I mean, it was problematic storyline wise, particularly for [Anderson's character Dana] Scully. And I wasn’t really enjoying the direction that it was heading. It didn’t feel– and yet there was, I didn’t have a voice in it. As much as anything, I felt like I needed to move on to something where I might have more of a voice.”

The British legend behind Mr. Bean, Johnny English, and Man vs. Bee is returning for a second show with Netflix, and this time he's fighting a baby (kind of). Rowan Atkinson first partnered with Netflix for Man vs. Bee, a comedy series far funnier than its name would imply. Released in 2022, the show received decent reviews, earning 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, although audiences weren't as kind with 59%. Many assumed Atkinson and Netflix were one and done after Man vs. Bee was canceled in 2023, but the actor is back for another go around.

“I’m such a pessimistic arse,” Connor Swindells tells The Hollywood Reporter.

The British star (so the emphasis is on the “ar” in “arse”) is discussing his start in the industry with the global Netflix hit Sex Education. “I always think the worst and think, ‘No one’s going to see anything,'” he says about being unable to predict the show’s success. But it helps, being a pessimistic arse, he adds. “If you become conscious of an audience, you set yourself up to fail in many respects.”

The 28-year-old has the world at his feet. Life after Sex Education has been fruitful. He nabbed the lead role in Steven Knight’s (Peaky Blinders) military drama Sas Rogue Heroes and later, a job alongside Will Ferrell in a small production called Barbie.

Netflix’s Sex Education is currently under scrutiny after series actor gets arrested for s**ually assaulting minors. Alexander Westwood, who played a part in the blockbuster Netflix show, was convicted after a trial spanning four weeks to be guilty of r*ping a 16 year old girl, as well as s**ually assaulting a child over an eight year period between from 2010 and 2018.

He was accused and later found guilty of 26 charges of s**ual offenses, which include minors who came to him for acting classes between 2020 to 2021. Although he denied the allegations initially, the trial found him to be guilty. The sentencing for his crimes is expected to take place on February 25th at the Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Birney is an acclaimed stage and screen actor. Ncuti Gatwa and Nicola Coughlan are already bringing "Joy to the World" thanks to their work on series like Sex Education and Bridgerton. But they're also doing it in a more official capacity, as the duo star in this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special, set to air on Christmas Day, around our world, at least.

If ever two actors were born to play brothers in an emotionally devastating and poignant series about masculinity and manhood, it is Jamie Bell and Richard Gadd. The two actors the former known for Billy Elliott and All Of Us Strangers, the latter for his smash Netflix series, Baby Reindeer are set to star in a new series to be written and executive produced by Gadd (who created the idea), his first since the aforementioned Reindeer hit the scene and blew most of its Emmy Awards competitors out of the water.

The show, currently titled Half Man, was originally known as Lions when the BBC and HBO co-ordered the series back in June. It is said, according to The Hollywood Reporter, to focus on Gadd and Bell as two 'brothers' who grow together and apart during their forty years of friendship.

A new Netflix movie that's based on a true story has just debuted on Rotten Tomatoes, and critics are being very positive. Though Netflix offers plenty of originals in the sci-fi and fantasy genres, more grounded shows and movies based on true stories have also historically been popular at the streamer. These sometimes take the form of true-crime shows, such as the popular Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, but they have also been more straightforward dramas.

The Founder, for example, starring Michael Keaton, was well-received in 2017, with its story of how McDonald's became one of the biggest restaurant chains in the world. 2023 was a particularly strong year for the based-on-a-true-story movie at Netflix, with Nyad, Bradley Cooper's Maestro, and Rustin all earning positive reviews and awards recognition. Another 2024 Netflix movie based on true events now seems poised to join this respectable club.
