One of the characters mentions a new, airborne virus detected in Hunan, China - a haunting coincidence with the covid-19 which was first reported in China a year after the film was made.
When Anton is showing the Chapel to new student Zhang Li, he asks her to sing a musical note, specifically an A-sharp. The note Zhang Li then sings is indeed a perfect A-sharp, which would indicate Zhang Li has perfect pitch, a rare talent only 1 in 10.000 people possess in which they are able to sing or identify any note by ear.

This movie does not have any connection with Weinstein, not even a symbolic one. Miramax was founded in 1979 by brothers Bob and Harvey Weinstein, and was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in June 1993. The Weinsteins continued to operate Miramax until they left the company in September 2005 after some disagreements with Disney (the distribution of Fahrenheit 9/11 by Michael Moore) and they founded a new studio, (TWC) The Weinstein Company. Miramax was sold by Disney to Filmyard Holdings in 2010. In 2016 the company was sold to the beIN Media Group. Since April 3, 2020 Viacom CBS own 49% stake in the company.
