Oh my. So um, this was..different! I enjoyed this movie for the most part, it never quite took off for me but I loved how it kept its subtly wry straight faced tone and atmosphere consistent except for a few well placed moments of more overt humour, and it did keep me interested and engaged for most of its runtime, mainly very likely because in the back of my mind I really wanted to see just what the heck they were going to do with such an insane plot device and just where it all could have possibly heading, well if nothing else I can't say I was disappointed with the explosive finale! As I watched I just kind of took the movie in stride but then it hit me about a day later, I thought to myself wow, I totally watched a movie about a guy with a black hole like vortex for a backside! It's so gross and stupid, but I thought it was a little funny just because they tiptoed around the subject and never acted like it was funny. I thought the director who was very brave in what he was called to pull off did a good job in his odd role, I could tell he was playing the character all stiff and monotone because it was intended that way and it wasn't reflective of the guy's acting ability, least I sure hope not, and I sort of felt a little bad for the character because his marriage was pretty much dead in the water and the detective who was on to him was a very aggressive guy in comparison, but on the other hand he was tornado-ing little kids and animals into the strange pocket dimension of his own posterior and didn't seem to care very much, so it wasn't exactly a tragedy when he hysterically gets blown up from within in an icky welter of gory and glop after the detective puts a light to his noxious emissions! That part got the biggest laugh from me. So I thought this was almost good despite itself, I enjoyed it but I don't know if some viewers would just turn it off at the first hint of the juvenile plot device, but I thought it was cool how it managed to use such a bizarre premise almost completely seriously, something that bugged me was that I wouldn't have minded a little explanation as to what on earth his bottom-dimension vacuum thingy was, and the little Chinese boy should have lived at the end. This tiny freaky movie was cute, very different, but in a good way and I guess I had a good time watching it, it mostly left me feeling a bit perplexed and nonplussed and puzzled as to just what I should have been feeling! My goodness, the crap they'll make a movie about these days huh?
  • Kept me engaged.

It is quite a strange movie. But it is very entertaining and keeps progressing.

Most movies are predictable in some way. This is not. It keeps you guessing throuout the entire movie.

The production is in my opinion excellent. Every thing is smooth, but also changing.

But be warned. Even though it is a, in it universe, believable plot. It is a very silly plot and silly ending. But if you like those kind of movies, it is a good one
  • I knew I had to see this movie based on the premise, and it's even weirder than that. There are lots of gross happenings and it's far from a masterpiece, but I had a grin throug most of it and I would recommend seeing it at least once.
  • Ok I don't love it, and I'll probably not ever see it again. But it's was not a waste of time, not like I am butt hurt about it. /p
  • Some good acting, enjoyably absurd, truly impressive cinematography for something with this low a budget, and some occasional good moments, although mostly before the credits start (quite late).

But it's so very very slow, and padded, I was praying for death. It just goes on, and on, and on....

So, you know, props for how beautifully made it is, and the fact that it was made at all. But Lordy it was a long slog.

Definitely not a comedy. There is not one funny moment. This is a crime thriller with a sci fi twist. But even then it is somewhat slow. Usually crime thrillers attempt to keep you on the edge of your seat. This movie does not. It is not interested in plot twists or interesting reveals. Str8 out the gate you know this guy puts things up his butt and they disappear. You might think you are going into the movie wondering HOW, or WHY. Or even what happens when things go up his butt. But that is not the case. What you get is a slow burn that dives into the concepts of obsessive compulsiveness and how it can cause a bored socipath in a humdrum life to all of a sudden go from IT professional to child killer after a rude prostate examination (if you can call being put up someone's butt being "killed")

It is a good movie, but a very slow burn. The actors are okay for their part. I couldn't get over the paint used on the cop's beard... it sparkles in the light from the metals in the paint lol. Horrible makeup, except on the guy's butt.... they did a good job with that. The score is beautiful... it makes the slow tense moments actually bearable, otherwise it would be too slow to handle. I think the filmmakers needed to pad some run time with some slow motion. Which is odd because they had plenty to work with for extra scenes: the wife's "friends" that she hung out with when the tv controller disappeared, the relationship between the main character and his boss, more character development with the cop, and even an explanation of who is the black guy that appears at the end of the movie with the woman at the hospital.

Overall this was a great concept with an okay execution. Many may judge this movie on the fact that it is a movie about a butt pirate, but there is some value in this movie as a look at obsessive compulsive behavior of a sociopathic killer.

I give it 6/10, but it would have been a 5/10 if it wasn't for the score.
  • I wish I could be as positive about this as the other reviewers, but they're obviously fake.

I'm sure you've read the synopsis by now, so I don't have to explain the movie here. However, others called it original, where as I call it the typical old plot of a killer who can't stop, like it's an addiction, and tries to keep it hidden from everyone else in his life. We've all seen that right? Yeah, just take that formula and oddly make the way the killer does his victims in is by sticking them up his butt!

Comedy? The premise and reading of the story is funny, but there are no jokes in the movie. After the first ten minutes, the joke has worn off and the movie plays it straight the whole time. I wouldn't call it a comedy or dark comedy outside of anything else. There's no laugh moments.

Thriller? No, not really. Its actually rather boring for the most part, the lead actor is even more stiff than Adam Driver if you can believe it!

    Romance? Don't make me laugh.

Original? Hardly. You wouldn't call a movie that rips off The Wizard of Oz only to make the main character accidentky urinates on the Wicked Witch as an "original new concept"

The acting on the most part is ok, apart from the co-lead (Mr butt boy himself) who has had a charisma bypass. Even tho it can be slow and boring, it's watchable, but it's not something you'd be in a hurry to watch again, if ever. Nor is it a film you cant wait to rush out and highly recommend to everyone. Therfor, it's not a masterpiece or must see, nor is it modern classic or a movie surely to have a cult following as these fake reviews have stated. It's watchable once from start to finish, but then again, if you never see it, you haven't missed anything.

And just incase anyone might get the idea this might be something along the lines of The Greasy Strangler (2016)... think again. Tootie Fruity Disco Cutey this film is not even in the same ballpark of... Nor is it intended to be. Like I said, it's not a comedy... Just a humorous twist that's better in words rather than watching this movie that takes itself seriously with a ridiculous way to make someone go missing.
  • This is a slow-burn, stone-faced, and truly strange film, so don't go into it expecting a slapstick horror-comedy.

It's an indie film, with a low budget, and weird pacing (sometimes huge time gaps between scenes).

If you like really weird stuff, you should watch this.

I spent a lot of the film wondering if it would be worth it and worried that it wouldn't deliver, butt it's definitely worth it. I wish it had been a little faster or shorter or more interesting during chunks, butt it was still a great experience.

It has really similar vibes to Bug with Michael Shannon.

I wouldn't recommend this to most people, butt this is *definitely* a film for those who like bizarre experiences and can stick with the slow pacing.
  • Bizarre little indie that can't that seem to make up its mind if it's a comedy, a drama or a sci-fi film. It's actually a bit of each and none of them are terribly successful. I expected a comedy about things disappearing up a man's butt (who wouldn't?!), but for the longest time it plays like a drama before becoming more and more absurd and seeming more comedic, though without causing much laughter. It certainly is original and Tyler Cornack has some talent as a director and as an actor, but his co-star, Tyler Rice, is a pretty weak performer playing a detective unconvincingly. Perhaps he's going for comedy, but nothing he does really works. Nobody else is of any interest. The film is not all that interesting either, though one keeps watching to see where this bizarre premise might go. An oddball film, which I normally appreciate, that just doesn't work all that well.
  • Well I started watching this after reading a brief synopsis expecting a silly stupid Z movie.

Now don't get me wrong the idea/concept behind the film is absurd and ridiculous yet somehow they managed to pull it off.

The deeper meaning/ideology inside is that of addiction and the knock on affect of its destructive nature yet at the same time it's not entirely a metaphor.

The narrative and pacing suck you in, as well as the excellent cinamotgraphy, everything is familiar in a serious 90s cop movie kind of way as well as other 90s classics such as Clerks Pulp Fiction and Seven.

Even the main role plays a homage to De Niro without it coming off as a parody. The acting overall was good with a only a few weaker performances from very minor characters who have little screen time but nothing to make the Stomach churn.

Even when things get even more absurd it only makes you want to watch more to find out how it all comes out at the end. At the same time the entire thing is played as deadly serious as a noir classic with only a few subtle hints at humour.

I don't know which crazy mind this came from but bravo to the creators for having the balls to put it out there and do it with such brilliance. Even with the madness that I just witnessed I still managed to come away with a deeper meaning while at the same time a wry smile on my face.

If this does not become a cult classic I'll be surprised, its probably too much to ' stomach ' for many ( although not as bad as many other films ), they don't shove something in your face just for shock value either, everything is there for a reason to help things make sense out of the nonsensical.

This is what film making is about, whatever you are making, make it good and use all the tools at your disposal to engage and envelope the audience.

Bravo to all involved, it must have been difficult given the subject somehow you managed to avoid making a turd.....

    8/10 can't fault it
  • This has got to be the most absurd movie I've ever seen, but somehow I could not stop watching it. I gave it a 6 because it's creative and acting was actually not bad and the ending, well you've got to see.

This 2019 comedy-thriller tells about a depressed, computer programmer, Chip (Tyler Cornack) who starts to have a yearning for putting objects and living things up his butt. Soon, he meets a detective, Fox (Tyler Rice) who he sponsers for AA and Fox starts to investigate recent, missing children and such leading to Chip as his main suspect. This is a ridiculous yet bizarre flick with humorous, dramatic and gross moments accompanied by an atmospheric score. Cornack also wrote, produced & directed it which follows the serial killer/cat & mouse formula of crime films like "Manhunter." If you're into the genre, give it a try at least once.
  • A comment in a page I follow suggested Butt Boy. Being a huge B-Movie fan I had to know more. After looking into it, I decided to watch it. I was not disapointed. It wasn't campy, cheesy or poorly done it simply has an unconventional plot. It was simply bizarre yet I couldn't stop watching. Its not graphic and gross either, its surprisingly done tastefully implied

The first hour is slow and perhaps this will turn people off but the final 30 minutes is worth it.

I'm a big fan of strange, absurdist films where the crazy premise is taken seriously by the film makers and, if you're the same, this won't disappoint.

Ok, I wasn't sure what to make of it for a long time. The concept of a man (seemingly) murdering children and small animals in his butt was wildly distasteful but also completely impossible. I viewed it as a sort of surreal crime drama with a hint of dark comedy which somehow takes place in the present and the 1970s/80s at the same time. It's an absurd film and the people who made it know that, and I appreciate going for something "out there". That's why I chose to watch it. Nearing the end we find that the beings the main character put in his butt are actually still alive inside a strange alternative dimension. Great! No horrible child murders afterall. But for some reason I cannot fathom, the writer chose to have one of the two children die inside the butt dimension. Why??? This is not a serious film. Why have a tragic ending? I mean, even the dog escaped alive even though he'd been in there a decade and probably would be dead from old age by now. (Yes, time is the same in the butt as it is outside. We know this because a baby aged ten years inside there.) I really thought both children would get out alive because it's ridiculous to make a film this silly then end on a sad note for no reason. The only explanation I can imagine for why the writer made it seem that one boy died is because perhaps a sequel was being planned that reveals the boy is actually still alive but stuck in a different dimension.

Entertaining enough quirky film with unusual plot. It banks a bit too hard on its own unusual approach, that gives it a bit of a thin feel. But other than that it's a visually entertaining and amusing film. Cerebral filmfreaks might be entertained by no matter how silly you write a plot, it will work as a film if you apply acceptable structure. In that regard, and the horror category too, it reminded me of the film Rubber, in which a car tire fulfills the role of serial killer in a deconstructed slasher film. I guess it would be a fun film for a live festival audience. I was amused but not blown away. Do I recommend this? Chances are high this is the most interesting pick of any two films you have in consideration. Do it! I need more people to see this so we can further process what we've watched together.
  • The pacing is just too slow. Good intro, excellent last quarter, could've trimmed 10 - 20 mins from the middle. Would've also introduced the sci-fi (ish) aspect much sooner in the movie. Everything else; story, production, acting etc. was very good.
  • It was dry and kind of difficult at first, but once it picked up momentum, I got into it!

A man has an obsession with putting things, and I mean ANYTHING into his anal cavity. The script was tight but not very deep. Takes an old figure of speech and repeatedly slams the point home.

I'm sure the film crew was pooped shooting this one. A movie that took all the traditions of sci fi comedy and wrecked 'em. In the end, the viewer is the butt of the joke.

    WTF
I'm not even sure what I've just watched but that is an hour and half of my life I am never going to get back. Please don't bother, not even remotely funny
  • I've been following Tiny Cinema forever and been waiting for this movie. I have to say, it's not at all what I expected, but somehow exactly what I expected. A comedy played as a thriller. If you've seen their sketches, this is what they do best. DO NOT expect a full-blown comedy, you will be highly disappointed. But instead if you watch it with an open mind and look at this movie as a low-budget satire on cop thrillers and melodramas, you will be blown away. It can be both hilarious and gut wrenching at the same time, while leaving you fully immersed in this insane plot, unsure of exactly where it's going next. And believe me, the last 20 minutes is worth getting to, despite some slow spots in the middle.

The writing, direction, cinematography is all pretty good. It's clever in it's execution.

    7.5/10

I don't get the reviewers who liked it but gave it a 4. Like what?
  • This 55 year old man, he say yes watch be intrigued, be astounded, be humoured, be repulsed but most of all be really amused, but don't blame me if it's not you cup of tea.
  • I am definitely drawn to movies with a unique premise. Butt Boy plays out fairly unconventionally, too, and its super-absurd story unravels in a serious tone (occasionally punctuated by quirky characters). With all that said, I would think this is a movie for a very select audience. It's so off-kilter, and tonally all over the place, that I thought aspects of it worked against itself. To say it's lowbrow and ridiculous (and serious!) is an understatement.

Brow-beaten and depressed young dad Chip, forced into marriage by an unplanned pregnancy, needs his first prostate exam. Which seems to go on far too long. Subsequently, Chip takes a real liking to sticking things in his butt. Before the credits roll, he has graduated from remote control, to small pet dog, to stranger's baby!

Cut to 9 years later, and Chip is an AA sponsor (is his addiction sticking things up his butt? The alcoholism aspect is not explored). Upon his first meeting, (extremely) grizzled Detective Fox is assigned Chip as his sponsor. Fox is researching a missing child case, and becomes real weary of Chip, for a variety of reasons.

I did enjoy Detective Fox's (Tyler Rice) performance, but really, really had an issue on the other side of the screen, with co-writer/director (Tyler Cornack, ok, I think we've met our quota of Tyler's. Wait, there's ANOTHER one?!) casting himself in the starring title role. He exudes exactly ZERO charisma or personality. And I mean, I get it, he's supposed to be a schlub (married inexplicably to a gorgeous woman (Shelby Dash) for a decade, who doesn't even like him), but he is played as such a non-character, I couldn't help but think they could've gotten a more interesting performance from someone off the street. If you're giving yourself a vanity role, at least make some effort.

Also, the ending! One half total nonsense, one half contrived Hollywood cop out... Which flies in the face of the critic's quote in the trailer, which says something along the lines of "Flies in the face of Hollywood conventions"!! (referring to the movie itself). Ah... critics.
  • This poorly made movie simply does not have the power to overcome the basic idiotic limitations of its adolescent metaphor. And I paid to see it. Damn!
  • This film is well filmed and the attention to detail is very good. The problem with mainstream Hollywood is that it tries too hard to fit a structured 'trying to hard too be liked' model. However this film blows 90% of films made with big budgets and famous faces out of the water.

The relatively unknown actors are generally good and shows good immersive character driven acting. Making such a banal storyline interesting and running with it is its strength. Themes of addiction, paranoia, struggling relationships, loneliness and redemption are interspaced within the film which at times borders Arthouse.

It's not all bells & whistles and a film shouldn't have to resort to this tired method. A strong story centered film with relatable characters.
