  • This is one of the worst war movies I have ever seen. The battle scenes look like they were done by reenactors, the homefront scenes are stilted and full of stereotypes. The acting is awful and direction terrible. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is that it is trying (badly) to address PTSD.

Maybe if you are interested in the subject matter you can sit through this film, but I could not. The acting is so horrible and uninspiring. Bland would be the best word to describe every single performance in this film. The script was slow paced and not very well written.

Nothing was good about this film. Again - if you want to watch something about the subject matter it may appeal to you, but it is a terrible film with some of the worse acting every put onto film.
  • Waste of time, it's disgusting. Don't waste your time like me

In the beginning of this film we see a female nurse wearing a kaki trousers!!!! in ww2 nurses never wore trousers.never.stay away from this piece of rubbish, the acting is terrible, especially the so called actress who's playing the wife of the so called "protagonist",he is almost as bad as her,the story arc is simply ludicrous, the plastic tank models are small and look completely new, like someone just took them out of box seconds before the "battle" scene was shot.
  • This is clearly a low budget indie film, so don't go in expecting Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan. Having said that, if you're able to look past a few sparse battlefields, and decent, but not perfect VFX, then you'll find a pretty good movie.

The first 30 minutes or so are a bit slow, but once you're past that and you get into battle scenes and the rhythm of the non-linear the it really starts to pick up. It's also really more of a drama about the effects of PTSD than a straight forward war film. But of course the distributors want to push the action to sell DVDs.

Even with its flaws this was a surprisingly interesting movie to watch. The non-linear structure was well done and different than what you'd find in this genre. And as a film buff, I'd love to know more about the behind the scenes of the production to see how they pulled off what they did on a limited budget.

In conclusion, don't look down on a movie because it didn't have a hundred million dollars. There's serious merit in new voices outside Hollywood.

If you have ptsd, you will relate completely to the protagonist.

Survivors guilt, inability to reconcile the chances that led to survival and descent to dispair.

Inability to connect to loved ones, regular life and suicidal ideation / action.

Is it perfect? No. But those complaining about back and forth...., you are fine then trauma occurs and you relive things. That's why the film is created that way.

Only accepting what happened and confronting it helped.

Watching the journey of the protagonist was excruciating. Particularly when he was going to meet his wife and stopped for a drink.

This wasn't a large budget blockbuster but it does a better job of depicting trauma than most films to date.

I think this is one of those films that will hold your attention throughout if you understand what's going on. If you've had ptsd then you'll understand and follow it, the silences, the feelings when everything is standing still but people are carrying on as normal and you realise you've sat in your thoughts for hours. I can only imagine how these guys adjust to life.

Not a big budget and clearly working with limited resources. But solid nonetheless.

It's a great approach when you tackle the issues of PTSD. Some cases it's never really discussed, especially in film. I had the opportunity to see this during it's run at the Edmonton International Film Festival in October 2017. I actually used to work with the guys who made this film years ago. They are determined, and very ambitious in their work. I am extremely proud of these guys, and what they have achieved.

I love this movie. I was expecting great war scenes from the battle at Kasserine Pass and I definitely was not disappointed. What I was not expecting was how this movie grabbed me by the heart and wouldn't let go. It depicts the pain and loneliness of PTSD so well! Great job!
  • So underrated! very emotional; i am a Veteran... i know...
  • Why so many bad reviews? Is it because it's not deep rich and have loads of handsome men and s******* on the side. Basic no frills what you're left with after the fight. Some awful reviews on here just because they can't understand the idea of this whole film. I'm not a veteran. So I don't know the facts of War. But I will have a guess and say this is somewhere near it in the aftermath. If you want fancy Dan stuff then don't watch it. If you want the truth then maybe you should. A better review said it was low budget. I'm not convinced it looked quite realistic to me. I thought most of the scenes looked realistic . As I would imagine it to be. Did I mention I'm not a veteran how would I know.
