3 Hommes et un couffin (3 men and a baby) La Cage aux Folles (Bird Cage) are a few of MANY great French comedies that Hollywood has produced copy cats of. Why? Because the French have a great sense of humor but Americans don't get the subtleties of European humor. I first discovered GAD on Seinfeld's Commedians in Cars having Coffee. The comedian is a very popular standup in France and actually very funny or Seinfeld would not have had him on his show. In his role in this series he is not intended to be providing laughs per minute (like in his standup) but rather his character struggles with a midlife crises. Americans, just relax and enjoy the show and don't read so much into it.
