  • It's more grown-up than the average Disney Channel animated series, and for the better. And if Disney just had a little more faith, then The Owl House could have the time it deserves. It deserves more eyes than it's getting, for sure. It's impressive how much it's been able to pull off with its short existence. It's shaping up to be one of Disney's best animated series in recent years, if not ever, and it's best to realize that now rather than after it's already come and gone.

Awesome Worldbuilding, really funny, Over the top Voice Acting, wonderful Character Development are just some of its merits.
  • I'm 19 and i watch this show with my little sister and sometimes my parents join in as well.

It's such a fun show to watch, it's "made for kids" but has a plot that's suited for all ages, with characters like Eda that come and shake things up!

I love Luz and her story, how even though she was human she managed to find a way to make her dream come true, it teaches kids to be confident and to dream big and I hope we get to see more of her and the gang soon.

People need to take notice: the principles behind good writing hold for good TV. Proper storytelling needs to be focused, concise, and atmospheric.

Series like "Gravity Falls," "Amphibia" and "The Owl House" accomplish this to perfection. Each included detail serves a purpose, and details do matter.

In TOH we see the growth of relationships in a credible way. Even sequences that seem purely atmospheric at first help to advance the plot (the high-fives, for example, that show how Hunter is changing; or the breathing exercise that Luz teaches Willow later used to rescue Gus from his negative emotional loop).

The way the relationship between Ida and Luz evolves is amazingly told. But the highlight to me is the Amity/Luz friendship in the first season, and the Gus/Hunter in the second. They feel real, both are touching. Friendship is more than just sharing interests, it's about bonding. It's only in modern culture where romance has been split from friendship --it wasn't long when both often went together. Anyone who has read the correspondence of famous artists in the past knows how different it was.

This show also breaks new ground because it doesn't make a big deal of its diversity. That is the hallmark of future generations. We older people still live with the memory of a world where people had to fight tooth and nail just for the right of existing. Hopefully, that will change to a point where it's not the main subject any more, but just something normal and expected in the world.
  • I only watched this sporadically, but my kids went through this series very quickly after Gravity Falls, one of their top three shows. Despite the fantastic dangers, the show over all seemed light-hearted and fun. Luz's total disappearance into a fantasy realm (of her own making?) by following a creature through a door suggests Alice in Wonderland, as does the show's total disregard for the "real world," including her mother, in favor of its creatively imaginative realms. The show also continues the reclamation of the "witch" title in global animation beginning with Kiki's Delivery Service and with many recent examples; in Owl House, what is especially noticeable is how the loner Eda becomes like a substitute mother for Luz: an intergenerational bonding of adolescent and adult witch, both misunderstood by their families.
  • I loved this show so so much, being a teenager it wasent what i'm "supposed" to be watching but it's now one of my all time favourite shows, it saved my life and i watch it whenever i feel sad as a pick me up, wish s3 wasent cut short cause of some little ... honeslty idk what else to write cause apparently i need to have more words, i love the whole show, luz and her development makes we scream it's so well done, more time and budget could have helped to make it better but they did AMAZING with what they were given for the 2nd and what is currently out of the 3rd seasons, i would give anything for the full 4 seaosns dana wanted please take all my money all of it you deserve it the owl house <3 watch it NOW it will change your life for the better.
  • HOLY SMOKES this show was I big step for Disney. The story line, and the representation. I almost thought it might keep going until Disney screwed it up and canceled it.
  • The animation is great and the art style is adorable, like Gravity Falls meets Hieronymus Bosch. The setting is imaginative and will definitely appeal to kids who like fantasy, i'm sure a fair few will be wishing they could have adventures on the Boiling Isles themselves. On top of this, the stories are very sweet and there's lots of good humour injected throughout all the episodes!

I think kids will really like this little fantasy romp of a series and honestly, adults will probably be able to appreciate it too, it got plenty of chuckles out of me and it really is easy on the eyes.
  • Looking for a light-hearted and funny fantasy show? Then The Owl House is likely just what you need. The cast of characters will quickly grow on you, as they are carefully built up with great writing and many emotional moments. The humour is generally great, and most adults will likely have fun watching the show as well. Meanwhile, while the tone of the series is generally light, the stakes rapidly grow during the story, until you are incredibly invested in the outcome.

It is therefore very sad that it appears like the show will be prematurely ended by Disney. Especially in the light of the much poorer quality of recent Star Wars and MCU series. I definitely hope that somehow the show will be continued, since I would love to spend more time with the characters in the Boiling Isles.
  • Yeah It is pretty good. Honestly I didn't enjoy the first few episodes that much because they are a little bit on the cringier side of childish comedy and I feel like the show really hadn't found itself at that point. It does really get better the highlights of the first season being probably the last few and the 2nd season is remarkably better than the first. There are a few misses here and there but %80-90 of the episodes in season two are consistently really good. For most people this would be something you could watch with your kids but it has aspects similar to gravity falls where you could just watch it yourself as an adult and you would be fairly entartained.

    Amazing
    Warning: Spoilers
Such and amazing show I'm almost 14 and I'm obsessed I watch it with my friends (14) and my sister (8) and my dad (almost 49) and they all love it. I love the LGBTQ+ and the twists
  • Its a fairly modern supernatural themed adventure, chock full of all the melodrama and monsters, out of place eyeballs, and occult themes in a near PG 13 setting that anyone could get behind. I would have liked watching it as a kid, and its nice to see a good story with female main characters for a change in the current era. Clearly its meant to replace shows like Gravity Falls with its constant references to single eyes and usage of Owls as esoteric symbols, but everybody knows the world is run by a quasi secretive cabal of wealthy "elitists" behind the scens...hell they flaunt their power all over right in front of peoples faces. But w/e. It all seems minor in place and the show is good enough that even with recycled gags cartoons have been using for decades, at least its not crummy ol spongebob. Man THAT show sucks. It focuses heavily on what its about and I see less and less stuff that I hate as time goes on. Pretty enjoyable for most anyone. Well over 7 out of 10
  • The show has great animation, and the LGBTQ+ rep is amazing, and literally made me tear up at the sight of it on Disney channel, which is something I wish I could have seen as a kid.

That's really all the good I have to say. I love other cartoons that are supposedly similar in quality, and I hear practically everyone say this is the best animated show ever made (I've even seen it rivaled with many extremely well-done and popular shows), and... I don't really get the appeal. I understand that the show was cut short, and the creator had to consolidate for this, but a lot of aspects of the show are either extremely messy or just not well done.

The writing of the show is pretty weak, and feels like it came straight out of a Wattpad fanfic. The pacing of the show is all over the place. The humor falls flat the majority of the time, and has a very 2014, outdated style to it, often making me cringe. A lot of the characters are really weak and cliche / tropey, and their entire character boils down to one personality trait.

I can understand why some people would like the show, but I don't understand the obsession the fandom has with it. It seems like everyone praises every single thing this show has ever done. What prompted me to write this review in the first place was I saw a post with 100k likes saying that Hunter had a better character arc than Zuko from Avatar. If anything this shows fanbase just feels like proof that media literacy is dead.
  • There are so many animations today yet only few can reach a higher quality point. Owl House is one of them. This animation will surely be remembered as one of the best, right next to things like Gravity Falls. It's very enjoyable to watch right from the start, the stories that are told have good motives behind them, the characters are well written and the animation is in this sweet zone of being simple styled yet very detailed and pleasant to watch. Also a surprising thing for a Disney show - it has a very good LGBT representation! It doesn't feel as corny as Netflix's... well every attempt at it. It actually feels like the it's author understands it. Well... if you follow the news you probably know that this show got cut but it doesn't mean it's not worth to watch! I'm waiting impatiently for season 3 and recommend this one greatly!
  • I thought it was going to be a typical Disney cartoon show but I was wrong. The show gets better and better with every episode. I honestly do not want the show to end.

Best of the best show next to amphibia the creator had put a lot of effort to that show and it's extremely cool and amazing the intro of the show is very catchy and awesome.
  • The entirety of the show is composed of excellently developed characters, unique ideas, and a complex yet well done plot line. The owl house as a series covers ideas any viewer could learn from. It isn't only a interesting watch but a innovative one as well. With an emphasis on moral dilemmas, and self acceptance their is plenty for the audience to consider. After watching show (seasons one and two, three hasn't released yet) it is extremely absurd that this series is being canceled.
  • Don't let the overly sensitive people who didn't even watch the show bother you saying anything that is fantasy is devils worship is not true its not real and it won't teach people to worship evil it teaches you to not judge other to be kind and to love yourself there are some action elements its awesome amazing funny show that deserves to be given a real chance if you don't believe me watch it for yourself and decide.
  • This show is actually really good, it's extremely slow at first but the plot gets really interesting in later episodes.

I really like it is very interesting and active. It's a series with a girl who is not as normal as the other kids. When he entered through a magic door he appeared in the world of myths and after an adventure he wants to become a witch.

This show is actually good and I'm excited for season 2 but there is a few problems. First I'll say that I like all the characters in the owl house Luz is pretty likable but can get a bit annoying, Amity is the best character in the show and the show does a fantastic job giving her character development. King is a funny character but it is strange hearing bill ciphers voice. Gus and willow are the worst characters in the show they kind of just sit there. Eda is a great character. My main problems with this show is 3 things. One there is almost no world building in the owl house. Two, How the hell did luz get so good at magic like 5 episodes before the finale she got okay at magic then in the last episode she just uses a staff out of nowhere and is able to use spells with it. Three, Luz is excited to finally be a witch but at the same time feels sad about leaving her family behind yet in the last episode she destroys the only way back home just to save people she's know for a month. In conclusion the owl is good but definitely not a 10 but I think it will approve in season 2.

When I first saw it, I had high hopes for the show. Opening really hyped me up but when the first few episodes rolled in it was just kind of like "Meh". The story line has great potential and if the plot maybe took some change later on and made it more focused on individual episodes it would go a lot better. As for the characters, Luz, Edna and King are alright but everyone else feels like the writers got bored after the main characters, really need more developing. Positive is that the animation is really nice. They need to take the ambitious steps taken by their sister episode "Amphibia" which was more successful and was effectively able to capture the audience.
  • As a lot of the same writers and creators of the show Gravity Falls worked on this show, The Owl House still feels like it's own thing. The first season set up many mysteries and many paths the show can take, and the season rapping it up in a nice bow, but also creating new exciting potential for season 2. My only problem is an under-cooked villain (that's only my opinion) he has the menace and the callus personality, but I hope the writers can make as something as compelling as Bill Cipher and bring it all together for whatever comes next! 10/10, a show worth watching, and one of the best modern Disney shows out at the moment!
  • This show, despite being a fantasy series is surprising realistic and well-written. The world-building and characters are fantastic. The visuals are stunning. It has Gravity Falls energy and humor, while still being its own separate entity. It has tons of twists, turns, and unexpected revelations. It's emotional, funny, and deals with important topics. I'd recommend this show to anyone, really!
