I wanted to see something I didn't know or read about. What kept me from giving it a 8/9 was the fact that something's were unbelievable. Plus BET got on my last nerve with those long commercials. Part 1 looked like cheap sets. The acting was great by Woody. Part 2 was just not believable. Like the part about his daughter Krissy taking to his new wife. Don't believe it......the fact that his wife Alicia comes out like she just falls in love with him after the divorce. Some of the storyline I found hard to believe. People always talk about Whitney and Bobby's chemistry.....don't see it. I've always seen 2 drug heads with money. Great acting..........other than that I was bored at times so I gave it a 7 based on the great acting.
  • There are a lot of music and movie fans that are more than a bit curious about the early and later lives of singer Bobby Brown and his more famous superstar ex-wife Whitney Houston. The actors who starred in this made for TV biography were great and it is quite evident that they wanted to do a good job and I believe they exceeded expectations.

Part 1 of the Bobby Brown story was interesting as there was some true insight into Bobby's early life and successes with the the group New Edition which helped catapult Bobby Brown's solo career. Part 1 also told the story of how Bobby and Whitney first met and their romance and subsequent marriage and only child together named Bobbi Kristina Brown (played well by actress Donshea Hopkins) all happened slower than many other stars who fall head over heels rather quickly. No, Bobby and Whitney's relationship was a slow romance as both of their solo careers were on high speed.

Part 2 focussed on another speed (cocaine) though and Bobby and Whitney's rapid downward spiral which ended their marriage. Remember the comedy/romance 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral which starred Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell? Well, in The Bobby Brown Story I lost interest through part 2 after not one (1) funeral, not two (2) funerals, not three (3) funerals, but after watching their fourth (4) funeral. Bobby's loved ones were dropping like flies and to be quite frank, this storyline does not hold a fans attention or garner a lot of empathy.

Drugs kill and fame and fortune do not buy happinessl. I rate the film a 6 out of 10 rating for part 1 only, part 2 is more than just a bit sad and depressing.

It was a really good movie it reveals things I didn't no such as his affair with Janet Jackson and his current wife was with Teddy Riley before him, it shows the dark truth about what drugs money and sex lead to but I'm glad he came out ok he went threw a lot and lost a lot of loved ones along way great movie
  • This mini-series ended up better than I thought it would. After the first hour, I thought it was going to be more tabloid than substance, but it soon went past that and it became the gift that kept giving. I found a lot of it interesting given the fact that I was familiar with a lot of the incidents displayed in the biopic. The one thing I was most impressed with was the fact that the actors (playing celebs like Bobby, Whitney, Janet, etc) weren't doing 'impersonations' of the people they played. They just played it straight, which was very effective. Not sure if it was intentional, but it actually draws you in more to the situations and actions of the lives being portrayed. It made me care about them as people, more so than tabloid fodder. The acting, stylized direction and fast paced story telling turned this in to must see TV. BET promoted this a lot throughout the summer and I congratulate them on their promotion of it. It was definitely worth the hype and delivered. Mr. Brown's story has a lot of sad and tragic moments, but it also shows a balanced look at all of it. It doesn't paint him as a choir kid. He is definitely a grown man and I applaud his not sugar coating his life story. Bravo!

The BB story is a different experience from the NE biopic. While the NE biopic is similar to a good feeling coming of age movie, Bobby Browns story is a look at a hard road traveled and the realities that manifest from reckless choices, and the triumphs of overcoming the hard realities of those choices. I laughed, sung the hot BB hits, teared up during the tough scenes and gave praises when Bobby Brown begin to see a brighter day. I totally enjoyed this story. It tugs at the heart and was a fair look at the highly publicized story
  • The movie isn't bad but I wish they would have picked someone else that actually looks as beautiful as Whitney was. Not a bad job picking Bobby Brown. Gap tooth and similar build. Overall an ok movie but not a believable Whitney unfortunately.

Not only was this a story I knew and loved, it also included pieces I never would've known or understood as a kid. Bobby & Whitney shaped a very good part of my childhood and teenage years. So this was a real treat, especially having time to play out rumors or scenarios in a scene. They really were a toxic couple, and I can only wish that people can learn from their personal lives aside from the glamour they put on stage. They're image was "Bad Boy" & "Good Girl." But now I can clearly see why they had the drama, drugs, relationships and tough times. They really seem like good people, with some damaged morals. I wish them both nothing but love, and I'm thankful for this portrayal of their lives. I just hate that their music meant all this trouble. I wish them all, both families the best. Loved the show, wish there was more dates and Whitney music.

They need a new actor to replace this guy! Not even close to looking like Bobby Brown! And he's not even that good at acting
  • I really really liked the biopic because I followed him throughout his life... I grew up with him ... I was very impressed with the way everything was very thorough... CUDDLES!!!! To Bobby Brown for overcoming all of his loss and obstacles!
  • Storytelling was great, I believe on point. The actors were better than I thought they would be. Great movie!
  • This biopic seemed like it came from the perspective of the current wife more than Bobby Brown. She was omnipresent throughout the film, even during his marriage to Houston. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the New Edition story. Frankly, it came off as a spiteful hatchet job on Whitney. In very poor taste and obviously bias from the current wife, Alicia, who is also an Executive Producer. Crap movie. Wish I could give it 0 stars.
  • I loved the movie! I was sick and tired of everyone dog in body Brown out and acting as if Whitney Houston was perfect she was no angel although she sung like one. Her cousin ( Dionne Warwick) got high and the sister in law Pat was a manipulative control freak and Evil. Poor Bobbi Kristina. Bobby wasn't an angel and he messed up. BUT NO ONE controlled Whitney but Cocaine has her! If she felt loved and appreciated by her fsmily..that could have helped her. They knew if she died they would benefit..look at Bobbi Kristina's life. You cant blame 1 person alone for this tragic story! And Janet Jackson has been a hot ass. Dating Jermaine Dupri told me a lot. Both by Didnt lie on her if anything he didn't tell us the rest of her freakiest. LOVE Janet but she is no angel either. Talent and loneliness brings us to all kinds of needs..sex is a common drug
  • The Bobby Story Was Actually What I Expected It To Be I Loved Gabrielle Dennis As Whitney but I don't like the way Whitney was portrayed in the movie if you get what im saying like Gabrielle Dennis was great she was beatiful she gave me Whitney all the way but I feel like Bobby made Whitney the enemy and i hate that's he made Alicia look so perfect

I was shocked how good this series was. Definitely one of the best bio topics ive seen. I was thoroughly impressed! Great acting. They really favored their characters. Well done bet! Lifetime needs to take notes on how a biotopic is supposed to be done! The story drew me in and was spot on! I love how honest and raw it was about how truly fked up his life was! I loved it!!

I had such low expectations, especially when it came down to the acting. Woody was amazing. Bright future for this young man. The movie was very detailed and well done. Acting was good. Great job BET another hit. The sad part is that the story is based on lives that was so tragic. Glad Bobby is doing better. Good luck to Bobby and his family there needs to be a happy ending for someone out of so much sadness.

The world's top entertainer with about 12 minutes of entertainment footage, 2.5 songs. No context into why he was so huge in the 80-90s.. They didnt bring back every little step, humping around, didnt explain the background story to my prerogative... unlike the N-E story, i did not feel any goosebumps. No music, just his sex life. Might as well watch Dynasty. Actually the balancd between music and romance was better in Jem and the holograms Historical confusion: he gets fired from NE for snorting and partying too much but in BBS he's calm, debonair and in control. He almost looks likes a victim at every turn. I believe it to be false. Almost as false as WH dragging him into dope. His depiction of Whitney is horrible and so far from what was reported on her in the 90s.
  • I might be too young to understand a lot bc you wasn't around at that time. But even now know they were two amazing artist. But from perspective they did beyond amazing I've watched this movie part 1 & 2 a total of 3 times. Needs an award. The whole cast movie down to the looks were great. Congrats on such a great movie.

Depictions and re-enactments were inaccurate. Dead people can't speak for themselves. This movie was a direct jab at Whitney Houston's legacy. Bobby Brown should be ashamed of himself.
  • The actors were great I have to give them the credit but the storyline seemed so forced! It didn't even give on his music more on his issues with Whitney. His new wife forced herself in as many scenes as Whitney. It was very distasteful to Whitney to portray her in that way to make herself feel better about herself she is a very insecure woman and Bobby should be ashamed of hisself to let her do this his sister even said he isn't hisself if you can't respect the dead (your ex wife) as least respect Bobbi Kristina she loved her mother and would've hated this!

    Okay
I'm a be honest I didn't like it it wasn't as interesting as the new edition one. I couldn't get into it like I did the other one. For some reason. I would never watch or try to watch it again.
  • The movie might be renamed 'The sex life of Bobby Brown' because of the numerous sex scenes. Bobby's book says he kicked Janet Jackson out naked but the film makes it look like she opted to leave. I think the story writers held back for decency's sake.
