This German late night variant is an unjustly so often scolded show. It does not yet come close to US late night qualities, but it also retains a peculiar charm and looks like an experimental hybrid of German talk entertainment programs and the mature American entertainment culture. There are clearly still hit and miss actions here, but the direction is right and charm is also there. Heufer-Umlauf is a sympathetic moderator with an idiosyncratic North German humor and a pleasantly warm dryness. Definitely one of the few programs that you can currently watch on German television.
