1917 producer New Republic Pictures has signed a first-look deal with Cate Blanchett’s Dirty Films.
Blanchett founded film and TV production company Dirty Films with Andrew Upton and the company’s recent executive producer credits include Mrs. America for Hulu, and Berlinale selection and limited series Stateless, which launches on Netflix on July 8.
Los Angeles-based producer Coco Francini, who served as executive producer on Mrs. America and produced The Hateful Eight, has joined Dirty Films as partner.
Blanchett worked with New Republic Pictures president Fischer on The House With A Clock In Its Walls and Truth.

The film, directed by Leigh Whannell, has grossed $54 million domestically and $48.2 million internationally in 65 markets. The modern-day take on “The Invisible Man” grossed $28.2 million in its opening weekend, marking the highest launch for a horror title since last year’s “It Chapter Two.”
“The Invisible Man,” starring Elisabeth Moss, carries a $7 million budget and a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It has opened No. 1 in 14 territories, including the U.K., Australia, Spain and South Korea.
