I would class this opening episode as superb. It's a fascinating story, with twists, turns, and an unexpected narrative.
It asks the question here, who exactly is the Victim? A dead child, the mother, or the man named as the child's killer and heavily beaten.
It's interesting in that we get a glimpse at the Scottish legal system, comparing the differences to the rest of the UK.
Kelly MacDonald and John Hannah shine through. 9/10

The Victim was an entertaining miniseries with a very unique storyline. Kelly Macdonald plays Anna, a mother whose nine year old son was brutally murdered by a thirteen year old boy fifteen years ago. The murderer was only sentenced to seven years and when he was released he had his name changed and he was relocated. His new name and location is a secret that only a few law enforcement officials are aware of but Anna has become completely obsessed with finding him.
Her friend who is also a private investigator gives Anna a name and address of a man she thinks is the murderer. Anna makes an anonymous post online outing the man as her son's killer and someone takes justice into their own hands and attacks him.
I feel bad saying this but it was really hard having sympathy for Anna because she was such a horrible person. She was obnoxious, stubborn, and completely neglected her other child because of her obsession.

Who is Eddie J. Turner? But is that the question to be asked in this gripping opener to the Scottish legal drama The Victim. It's encouraging to see a Scottish production that resonates. I was left on the edge of my seat at the end of this episode which raises more questions than answers.
Stick around for an intriguing series but this opener has so much going on you are not sure what's happening, especially during the all-important opening few minutes. It gets better, much better, but I wish the director had chosen a less convoluted manner of introducing the plot and characters.
Excellent actress very photogenic.
The story was intriguing 4 episodes excellent.
