  • I thought I'd take a risk in this film. Not heard if it and the synopsis seemed ok.

It was kinda how I expected it to to be. Pretty tame and just a tiny hint of that a rape scene may have happened..........so it didnt really set you up for the revenge as well as the I Spit on your Grave remake did. Plenty of plot holes and predictable story. Few Rambo type traps to take out the bad guys who are literally just faces and zero character. Bruce Dern makes a brief appearance. Lead actress did a great job and never overplayed it......although some expressions looked as if she was trying hard not to crack a smile all the time.....which was odd. Ha ha

The ending was just daft and intended to shock.......but failed and ultimately leaves you feeling totally unfulfilled and disappointed. Watchable but don't expect to be gripped or have much empathy or hatred for any of the massively underdeveloped characters.

Imagine being our and about and just minding your own business ... and then being witness to something horrible. Now imagine trying to run away and do the right thing. Report to the authorities. Sometimes it is better to know where you are - and this makes good use of rural areas and what or how people help each other.

So the tension is high and there can be almost not be expected any help from anyone else. At least that should be clear for our main character one may think. But she doe choose to act in certain ways that might frustrate you - understandably. On the other hand, the violence and gore on display will probably please those who are here for that and they won't mind any "logic" issues. And that endind ... I just loved it ... but could not help make certain flaws go away. The main actress is a powerhouse, if only her character would have been a bit more nuanced ... but hey can't have it all, yes?
  • Imagine I Spit On Your Grave with some Home Alone hijinx in the wilderness going on. It's pretty much that, but more enjoyable than it sounds. Plot developments are fairly obvious. Acting and directing are a higher standard than the poster may imply. Not bad.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Going to spoil the ending so you don't have to sit thru this movie that could have been good with a better ending

So don't read any further if you still want to watch.....

The girl doesn't shoot the main bad guy liked she should have . Bad guy feeds her boyfriend to the pigs

Bad guy sews her up in stomach of dead cow.

She is in hospital with 3rd degree burns from cows digestive acid.

We don't know how she was rescued or ends up at hospital.

Apparently bad guy survived and lives on to torture.

There, saved you about 2 hours of your time from watching this.

This could have been a really good movie. It's a "I spit on your grave" type of movie, well acted and good story with interesting subject matter BUT the ending ruins everything. I was so angry and totally disappointed at this stupid, blunt ending. Don't waste your time.
  • Anabellele's effort was excellent throughout, but the ending absolutely ruins the whole film. Terrible.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Why does the protagonist ALWAYS hesitate when they encounter the main antagonist?

Harper already demonstrated that she can "take care of business" with all the other bad guys (for lack of a better word). Yet she stands there holding a gun on Ravener while he taunts her. She has him. Get rid of him and be done with it. I lost all sympathy for Harper and felt she deserved what she got. If for no other reason except she was stupid.. LOL

She should have put a bullet in Ravener's skull the second she had the gun. She wouldn't have been in the state she was in at the end and her boyfriend would be alive. But NOOOOOO... run to the boyfriend when the main villain is standing right there.

Drop the guy, preferably with a double tap to the head, then see to your boyfriend.

The movie had my attention and it could have been better but they ruined it with the ending. This could go on my list of movies that once is enough.
  • Beware inbred families who get their kicks inventing sadistic methods of torture and vengeful girls who give as good as they get. Almost saved by Annabelle Dexter-Jones who doesn't milk it, she'll go on to better things I'm sure.

I almost didn't my watch this due to the the bad reviews bar the other reviewer who gave it a 6 which was enough to make me give it a go. People giving it 1-3 out of 10 have obviously never seen some of the absolute garbage that exists out there. I have watched my fair share of everything from the absolute worst B-Movies that you can't watch after 5mins they are that atrocious to some of the slickest sickest flicks ever made.

Cinematography - Excellent!! I wasn't sure at first about the camera angles but once you get in to the movie it all works and looks good.

Actors - they all play their parts well (maybe not the police interviewer at the start, that almost made me switch off as I though HERE WE GO another 5mins in and it's off movie) but the key actors play their roles perfectly. The lead actor plays a blinder, she's excellent.

Soundtrack and Score - perfectly blend the scenes and set the scene. Sounded amazing through my Dolby Atmos system.

Deaths - some actual originality in there with some oldies but goodies. Not going too heavy on the gore just enough to make the point.

I actually liked the way they didn't show everything. This is usually annoying but they've made the right decisions about what to show and what to let your imagination fill in the blanks for.

Ending - very happy with the ending. Not your typical ending, but it's original and leaves you feeling a little bit violated.

Hats off to the director and everyone who worked on the movie. Very well executed movie that has been done before but hasn't everything? They put their own spin on it and made a great wee movie to sit and watch with a couple of cold beers.

Watch it like I did with low expectations due to all the other reviews and be pleasantly surprised but how much better it is than they would have you believe.

This movie had great potential, I enjoyed it up until the stupid ending. The actress was great, and overall movie kept me interested, but again the ending was just terrible. It was awesome she managed to kill all the other bad guys but it just doesn't make any sense that she doesn't kill or even hurt the main villain, even after managing to get his gun, she does nothing but point it at him. I thought for sure when she saw her boyfriend she would of shot the bad guy even more to save them both. And I figured while her boyfriend might die for sure after a struggle she would end up torturing the bad guy, he should of ended inside the cow not her. And how the hell did she escape anyways? It seems like more and more especially lately movies are having the worst endings.
  • Ravage in two words? SUPER PRETTY. Storyline? Smart, captivating and inventive. Acting? Real. Shutterbug Annabelle SLAYED (literally and figuratively). Robert was GREAT. Some people are dissing this film and I really am not sure why. Yeah it's not a blockbuster thrasher, but that's not what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to be a beautiful action thriller horror and DIFFERENT. AND IS. WAKE UP PEOPLE. FILM IS SUPPOSED TO BE PRETTY. Can't wait to see what this team pulls out next.

Why so much hate for this film my wife and I enjoyed the movie and we both gave it a 6/10

The leading actress acted well throughout the movie we had excitement, tension and good cinematography the music was annoying though.

I'd say the film was similar to Wrong Turn but with one person trying to get away.

    Recommended!
  • @Teddy Grennan: You were probably going for a shocking ending and you did great. It shocked your kind of crappy movies out of me for ever. People watch movies for various reasons, most, if not all of which include entertainment, fulfilment or even learning. Your movie provided nothing. Not sure what you were going for there. But one thing is for sure. This was first and last movie by you that I watched.

Successful rape/revenge movies follow a simple formula: an innocent woman is subjected to a harrowing sexual ordeal, usually shown in a graphic manner to drive home the horror of the situation, after which she takes revenge on the perpetrators. The viewer derives satisfaction in seeing the villains getting what they deserve at the hands of the wronged female.

Ravage does it all wrong: director Teddy Grennan neglects to show us what makes the film's protagonist, nature photographer Harper (Annabelle Dexter-Jones), so mad (I was unsure whether a sexual assault had even taken place). Harper then proves to be a female McGuyver, getting the better of several men by setting deadly traps, but ultimately fails to settle the score with the ringleader. The film cheats the viewer, and its protagonist, out of the revenge that is so intrinsic to the genre. It's hugely disappointing.

One victim is killed when Harper lowers a packet of bullets into his camp fire, a motorcyclist is decapitated by a wire stretched across a path, Bruce Dern accidentally injects himself with an overdose of drugs and is blasted by a shotgun (off-screen), and in one particularly daft moment, Harper shoots a bloke by a river, the woman having somehow waited underwater to surprise him.

But that last man, the ringleader, remains alive by the end credits. Harper, so resourceful earlier on, makes a really dumb mistake, is captured and sewn up inside the carcass of a cow (yes, you read that right!). It's never explained how she gets free.

4.5/10, rounded up to 5 for the music, which deserves to belong to a much better film.

This movie has so many holes in it. Where did the boyfriend come from? Anna was great in it. Bruce Dern who is always fantastic has a small part in it. He saved it from dying entirely. I was going to leave earlier but hung in to see if it recovered from slow parts. I ended up feeling yuk and disappointment. I'm hoping something great comes in 2020. This movie was all over the place
  • Ruined by the ending......twits. Action scene after action scene followed by a failed ending.
  • Lets start off Bruce Dern has about 5 minutes in this film, i always look at the production value of B movies and i give this a B+, the cast was strong no cardboard acting, the main protagonist and villain are top quality, some very first blood type fighting, the only bad thing i would say is the end isn't as good as the rest of the film, but a sequel could be on the cards id watch it !

    Warning: Spoilers
This movie looks more like a home video. The shaky camera is anoying from the beginning on. The lead actress runs through the woods most of the time. Her actions seem stupid and the ending is just ridiculous and unsatisfying.

I only wonder what Bruce Dern is doing in here. He has a very short but fine cameo. Stay away from this movie, it is only a waste of time and a waste of money!
  • Warning: Spoilers
Classic characteristic of a great movie with unusual plot that fails to have an ending. Most all newer movies share this failure. Movie goers favorites always have a fulfillment of an ending. An extra five minutes would've made this an excellent movie. Example: why not create a karma ending with the twisted torturer dying in a car crash soon after his crime?? Maybe show the woman years later getting skin graft surgeries and managing to lead a normal life? Maybe the woman could become a Dexter like character so damaged from her ordeal that revenge can never be satiated. Maybe the criminal cop could be brought to trial. Soooo many endings, just finish it!!!
  • Started out as a decent vengeance movie, but turns into a total downer because the main character acts like the typical horror movie idiot.
  • Riveting, gross and compelling. What more can you ask for? Enjoy, it's entertainment!
  • Hello, don't be bored to the companions of horror movies

Okay. The movie has an interesting theme and story If I am not mistaken, the movie was in the style of slasher and it involves you a lot In this way, whether the main character will survive or not, and you can feel this strongly in the struggle of the film The shooting atmosphere was not scary, but it does not detract from the values of the film The main character was very immersed in his role and played very naturally The name of the movie was perfect for the movie.

Inside the movie, you could feel the Middle Ages In general, I suggest you see it, it was interesting

Humbly a fan of Nima's fear style.

    (Spoilers)

Normally with movies like this I expect some pretty gruesome and terrible things to occur, but the revenge is supposed to balance it out. This movie had to be one of the worst "revenge" stories I have ever seen. From the trailer and the start of the movie's dialogue the entire movie after she originally escapes we already know at some point or another she will be captured again. I feel the problem is how she was recaptured at the very ending which I will later discuss my thoughts on the ending, but the majority of the film where she is out roaming the woods, we know there isn't even a hope of her escaping, so it's all for nothing. This may have been alright if she had been recaptured earlier on and not the ending of the movie, and we actually a chance of possible escape, which would create all of the scenes from there on interesting and give the viewers more hope and tension of if she will be caught. This didn't happen though, instead it was the ending. Now onto my thoughts about that ending. The ending was absolutely TERRIBLE. This is supposed to be a revenge story and yet the main villain won and our protagonist lost and was severely hurt and burned. So, other than the other kills (which weren't as satisfying as you'd hope they'd be) there isn't any revenge at all. She lost, sure, she got out alive, but only to have that main antagonist guy still alive and out there somewhere, while she's possibly going to prison as stated at the beginning by the cop in the hospital with her. The cop who was with the antagonist is also alive, along with the main villain, how is this supposed to be her getting her revenge? She even had a chance to shoot the main antagonist and leader of the group of villains when she grabbed his gun, but for some reason she didn't ! It made no sense whatsoever, and even if it was because her boyfriend was there, it still didn't make sense. When he dropped her boyfriend, it wasn't even something that would kill him yet, she stupidly didn't shoot him, and then ran to her boyfriend who was fine for the moment and lost her chance. It's like this movie was made by sadists who made the movie only to put the character through pain and had to throw in some revenge to get the movie passed off. The cow thing was gross, but it still would've been a slightly better ending of she had just killed the main antagonist, because at least she'd somewhat have the last laugh. Even if this movie was sort of rough throughout, I could've forgiven those plot holes, if she had realty gotten her revenge instead of that garbage ending.
  • Warning: Spoilers
This was obviously made for the purpose of an unsatisfying ending. I don't begrudge them that. If that is what you want to accomplish have the journey there make sense. Don't shoehorn it in just to do it. It disrespects your own character building to have someone handle things effectively and grow in that regard and then just go completely stupid at the end.

I can't forgive bad writing like that. The filmmakers were too focused on the break and antigenre ending they wanted that they sacrificed their movie to shoot it.
