Nina Paley is someone you root for...an introvert who rides around in an eco cycle that looks like a white plastic dido. Her short showing the history of men slaughtering men was effective and shocking...her short was interesting. There is where it ends. The ability to sustain an audience is beyond her. Her feature Sita Sings the Blues was unwatchable. What she does well is graphics, what she cannot do is create emotion. She lacks the depth of character to have her characters express beyond their rigid faces. She is a one trick pony. That trick is taking great old music and covering it with her limited graphics. Even so Sita seems a step up from Seder-Masochism. So who would sit through this ? Devotes of her radical feminism, for you see, Nina is an anti- transgender bigot. Those too are her fans. Devoted to her cause but I doubt anyone could sit through this.
