And directing ocassionally for cinema as El Año de la Garrapata and 18 Comidas .It is definitively worth watching . It is a captiviting experience for a viewer .
  • I really enjoyed this series. The setting and scenery alone make it interesting! Add in some very good actors, some decent wit and a solid plot with some nice little twists and you have a nice little drama series, which is def worth a watch. Don't expect anything too complex or heavy, just relax and enjoy.
  • Watching this enjoyable series to the end today did not disappoint. The ending was as unpredictable and believable as were most episodes. The acting was above average and the characters well written, as was the main storyline. The setting added a certain feel to the series and the pace was a nice welcome from the often frantic type shown by many others of this genre. A very good series and although it has ended, better on such a high note and with good entertainment value. The main actors were excellent in their roles and the location of Hierro gave it that extra dimension that added to the suspense. Kudos to the cast and crew.
  • The plot is very interesting and the contrast between the newly arrived judge and the residents in El Hierro island is realistic. The characters are well based and the actors are really good. I enjoyed every single episode very much.

You won't find a better one on Spanish TV. Candela Peña does her lifetime performance. The pace is perfect, the scenery incomparable and never found a show where it was more decisive in the plot. Sad there won't be a third season...
  • I wasn't entirely sure about "hierro" but i decided to give it a go as i know one of the actors in it. But i am hooked up and i have watched 4 episodes so far. It reminds me of "Broadchurch" a little bit, i guess there are plenty shows like this, but being in a small canary island it was something that caught my eye too. I can wait to see how it ends.

    A Gem
I'm so glad I came across this gem of a mystery. It has everything you could want- a dramatic landscape beautifully captured, an intriguing mystery with an original storytelling arc, and well developed characters. Highly recommended!

A thriller series that is well worth seeing in a fantastic landscape. The best: The police get to know regional traditions from the police investigations, the landscape and the economic misery are addressed. Due to a lack of jobs, the locals are dependent on the favor of the plantation owner Antonio Díaz (Darío Grandinetti), who plays really convincing. The series remains exciting and convincing until the end. Very nice. Murder in Paradise.

I found this series quite by accident. It has been a joy from the very first episode. I knew nothing about las Islas Canarias-now they are definitely on my list to visit. The scripts are intriguing, the acting impeccable. Candela and Diaz are tops. Hate to see this series end. Well done. Thank you!

    OK
    Warning: Spoilers
Surprised by the high ratings here. For me the 6 stars are more than enough. A lot of pretty anoying characters, and almost no one to really like. Some big plot holes during the investigation. The blood in the dive shop? The diving gear in Daniel's car? The late bread delivery after the murder of Reyes? No further attention paid. Furthermore some unnecessary characters and events. Candela's son? The wife of Diaz? And then the so called criminals from Tenerife, with Samir and her bodyguard. Laughable instead of threatening. Far fetched storyline. The 6 stars only for some decent acting among the cast, the nice scenery of El Hierro and the fact that I kept watching until the end. Not a holiday destinaties however.

And what an amazing TV series from Spain, such a well crafted, well acted, well directed series, I've been to Tenerife, and loved the North of the Island way more than the glitzy South, but never knew or heard of El Hierro, but having found this series quite by accident, the scenery is breath-taking, I really must visit at some point.

This TV series is just the best thing I've watched from Spain in a long time, but like so many other great tv series why is it only two seasons long, this series really needed more, in my opinion.

For me a solid 9/10, only really because trying to understand and watch the English subs was sometimes fairly difficult, but way better than having it over dubbed into English, which always looses the feel and originality, of a series.

If you watch this series and don't like it, whats wrong with you.
