Netflix’s new medical drama “Pulse” has officially landed on the streamer, and it boasts a vibrant cast that’s ready to clock in for their shifts.

On Thursday, the DC Studios boss took to Threads to shoot down reports that Daniel Radcliffe would take the lead as the titular supervillain in the upcoming Mike Flanagan-written, James Watkins-directed movie, which is set for a Sept. 11, 2026 premiere.

“As we confirmed the other day, we’re closing a deal with James to direct,” wrote Gunn in the post. “Because we don’t have a director yet, we haven’t even started the casting process. Daniel is great but we certainly haven’t talked to or considered him. So this one is 100% false.”

Written by Brandon & Kurtis Birtell, it follows an estranged couple who must learn to put their differences aside in order to save their son from a deranged home invader.

The masked intruder, known as Flip Face, orders them to “obey” if they ever want to see their son again in the high-concept horror thriller.

The film will be produced by Ross Dinerstein (The Void) for Campfire Studios, Josh Kesselman (1922) and Michael Sugar (Spotlight) for Sugar23, and Lindsay Macadam (Brain On Fire) for Great Pacific Media, which is providing production services for the project.

Altitude will be shopping Obey at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin.

The movie Tarot features a group of college friends being hunted by a deck of tarot cards. Despite negative reviews, Tarot surpassed its budget. The actors bring tension and scare to the film, with notable performances by Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Jacob Batalon, and others in key roles.

The scares and drama of Tarot follow a group of college friends who are perfectly brought to life by their actors. The movie is about seven friends being hunted and killed by a deck of tarot cards, which they use against their better judgment. The cast itself is relatively small, and by Tarot's ending, several deaths and shocking twists have happened.

Though reviews of Tarot claim the characters are thin, the cast is ultimately able to execute the film effectively to create tense moments and scares. Though it has many negative ratings, Tarot was able to quintuple its budget, in part because of the cast's performances.

Until "Longlegs" became the biggest box office surprise of the year, things weren't looking all that great for horror in 2024. A usually reliable genre was seemingly losing some of its appeal, as no one single film was able to repeat the breakout success of 2023's "Talk To Me" or "Skinamarink." Sydney Sweeney's dour nun horror pic "Immaculate" failed to wow critics and the generic yet enjoyable "Night Swim" couldn't quite become the breakout hit Universal were surely hoping for. While I recommend checking out each new release, the one that should be at the top of your watchlist is the 2024 supernatural horror film Tarot. It's based on Nicholas Adams' 1992 novel Horrorscope. Although panned by critics, the horror flick still managed to be a box-office success, grossing $49 million worldwide against a budget of $8 million.

The Madrid-based content house has struck a production deal with BBC Studios includes distribution rights to the upcoming kids series in Spain, Portugal and Latin America.

The series is a retelling of the bestselling Enid Blyton novels published between 1942 ands 1963, and comes from Winding Refn’s byNWR and BBC Studios-backed indie Moonage Pictures, which is behind The Pursuit of Love and Bodies, with The Mediapro Studio now an associate producer.

Danish auteur Winding Refn co-created the series with Moonage’s Matthew Read, and both are exec producers. It is being made for the BBC in the UK and Zdf in Germany, with BBC Studios already pre-selling it to France’s TF1.

In 2014 and 2015, Vertigo published Si Spencer’s eight-issue graphic novel Bodies, a mind-bending mystery about four police officers from different historical eras who discover the same corpse in the same London location, decades apart. Featuring detectives from the present day, the 1940s, the 1890s and 2053, it’s a complex conspiracy thriller about a very dark future.
