  • This is the first feature I've seen from an obscure, relatively new label named True Love Films specializing in Couples Romance content, with veteran Jim Powers directing. He's billed here ostentatiously as "The undisputed king of romance", but this movie is comedy instead.

I generally like Powers' work (that's why I gave this one a viewing), but he is most famous for a vast number of gonzo videos, notably the "Perverted Stories" series two decades ago. He did make an excellent Romance movie for Smash Pictures titled "Diary of Love", a Nicholas Sparks knock-off.

Katie Morgan, top-billed in the opening credits but properly demoted to third place in the end credits crawl, plays the title role, a busty prostitute whose home base is a hotel run by Evan Stone. Just having these two in lead roles seems like nostalgic old home week already.

Actual lead femmes are lovely Anna Morna and former big-deal Tasha Reign, behind in their payments and about to be tossed out of the hotel by Evan. But in Powers' often creative screenplay they soon land jobs their as maids to clean up the rooms after an ICE sweep rounds up most of Evan's employees for deportation. Making fun of that currently serious hot topic is par for the course for such an uncensored soul as Jim "Gonzo" Powers.

The situation comedy that ensues is brightly lit and resembles a TV sitcom but with plenty of XXX scenes included. Ember Snow and Pamela Morrison are young 'uns who have a three-way with Evan; Morrison's stage and movie star namesake died shortly after I watched the movie at the ripe old age of 103, an odd coincidence.

Nothing special here but an honest attempt to revive the light-hearted porn based on narrative and characters that had been popular in the 20th Century but has since been eclipsed by gonzo. So I wish Powers luck with his Romantic quest.
