Yes it's cheezy, get over it. If you have a heart, this is for you.

Mom, you really have to see this!

I thought these were very entertaining. It was a different approach and I liked the way Dolly tied in the song's. At least it wasn't filled with inappropriate language and gratuitous violence. These episodes were refreshing!

Heartwarming and easy to watch. Yes, they are predictable, but I'm good with that 🤷‍♀️

    10/10
    Amazing
There are times in life when you hope that all that is good in this world can be brought forth. Heartstrings does the most magnificent job of bringing love, laughter, tears, music and joy to the screen. Thank you to every person, every actor, writer, director, producer, and the crew that brought these beutiful stories to life. You have brought love and acceptance into the world. Dolly Parton is a rare and beautiful gift to this world. Thank You!!
  • I really enjoyed this series and I highly recommend it, but if you are stuck in the 1950's like one of the reviewers, you won't appreciate its modern tones.

Definitely a tearjerker for sure. This show so far has made me cry during every episode. I really think this is one of the best shows out there right now. Dolly Parton is such an amazing person. How can anybody give this show less than a 10 and any bad reviews? You want a good show then give this a shot you definitely won't be sorry. Just have some tissues with you.

    Amazing
Wow.. love her songs and this TV series. Her outfits are stunning too. This has a feel good feeling. Very enjoyable. Thanks Netflix.
  • Each and every story had me in tears. All are gripping and touching in one way or another! Def a must see
  • The acting is awful to thw point it feels like a Hallmark show. However, it is wholesome and I love Dollt Parton. But I don't get the 10 star reviews. Definitely worth a watch, but not that great at all.

We are not Religious per say, but more spiritual in belief. These stories are so well thought out and heart felt, well acted, and well presented. They have so well woven the story lines around Dollys works and experiences SO WELL. To Dolly: keep up this series. We will be watching. Thank you for sharing!
  • Is there people alive that doesn't know Dolly or her music? What a refreshing take on classical songs that withstood time. These mini films are entertaining and most definitely will pull on your heartstrings. Is it too presumptuous to expect a second season already? Let's face it, some of Dolly's songs need to be "movied" would love to see "I will always love you". Excellent job done to Dolly, all the actors, writers, producers and directors.
  • This series is so touching. It has something for almost everyone. I say almost everyone because I looked at some of the reviews here and see the hate. Well there is none of that in this series. Dolly loves everyone, big, small, black, white, gay, straight. She doesn't judge. Seems like a bunch of her fans from the reviews need to learn that lesson again. It's something taught though out this series. If you just want to love, and travel the roads that Dolly writes about check it out! If you want to judge, hate or discriminate, this series isn't for you.

There are some very sweet stories in this series. Yes they are typical Hallmark style with a cast that includes some very experienced talent but they do pull on your heartstrings.

Could only make it into the third episode due to the mediocre writing.

I can't fault the actors, they did what they could with the material given, but come on Netflix. Is this the best you can do for a talent like Dolly Parton?

If you like Lifetime you'll like this series, but I don't and it was difficult to maintain interest.

The the reviewer asking how anyone could give less than 10...to me, 10 stars are reserved for life changers.
  • Heartwarming, great stories, fabulous acting. I will rate the episodes separately as well. But omg.... the mother from episode two.... she threw her whole heart and soul in her character. Absolutely amazing acting...

This series is the perfect thing to bring people together...The stories are weaved around Dolly's music and they each have a bit of heartwarming wisdom. They are also a perfect spark for important family conversations about life's many trials and tribulations.

Okay, this show could not get more wholesome. Lame, yes. But we love that. DOLLY 4 EVA 😍😍😍😍🤠🤠🤠🤠
  • The entire series is good but the rest didn't compare to Jolene. I guess that was the reason it was episode one at least it seemed to me. When Dolly called it Heartstrings she meant business. She knows how to pull those emotions out and made you think outside the box cue to her movie called Coat of Many Colors. Have tissues handy because if you think Dolly is always smiles and laughter, you're wrong.

While there were a few I felt were hit or miss, it still focuses on the human condition. And why we must always look beyond the surface to see what's truly beneath.

Why does dolly push the alphabet so much. Good show.

I understand that Dolly has wanted to produce a series like this for a long time. Well as the saying goes...good things come to those who wait. Some on here have described this as a Hallmark Channel type of production. I suppose in a way it does, but it just seems richer than those productions. For some of the episodes you will need to have Kleenex ready. The actors are quite varied in their experience. I mean some seasoned actors along with folks who are known for other things, like dancing for instance. All did a fine job. I would call this a heartwarming series with just the right amount of happiness to balance out the sad. Dolly has never been one to mince words, nor does she shy away from situations here that some might still be uncomfortable with. So glad Dolly was able to make this happen.
  • Each story is very different and creatively and sensitively done with contemporary inclusiveness without judgement and without rubbing in any particular lifestyle decision.

Really enjoyed each one and loved seeing the linkages to iconic songs woven in.

First of all,I admire Dolly Parton and some of her songs are in my top ten. So I was really looking forward to the series. I started of with Jolene and watched with growing disbelief this first episode. How many cliché can you stuff in one episode? I think about all of them. I managed It till the end but this will remain a one time dreadful experience. What a waste of good actors...and time.

I loved all the stories in this collection. Dolly's story telling is just as beautiful as her music.
  • I've watched the first two episodes of this anthology series, and while many reviews weren't particularly positive, I think it's a nice combination of sweet and schmaltzy. The second episode is funny and touching, and with gay and trans characters, it's refreshing that Dolly's fanbase who might not otherwise be exposed to the full expanse of humanity is seeing something like this with her imprimatur. With Delta Burke and Kathleen Turner coming up in later episodes, I'll definitely keep watching. (I'm also thankful I got to see her in concert at least once, in August 2008 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. It was as amazing as you would imagine.)
