The film have been honored to have some of the last fluent speakers of Maskoke language (also known as the Creek language) within the film. Like many indigenous languages worldwide, Maskoke is considered extremely endangered. The Maskoke children in the film attend a language immersion program wherein the Maskoke adult cast in the film instruct these students exclusively in the Maskoke language; they are, in fact, the only Maskoke speaking children on the planet. On Places Thin creators hopes to bring light to this subject and give the next generation inspiration by seeing their language spoken on film.
