Watched the japanese one and was underwhelmed. It basically involved the crew going to places, shooting some stuff and trying to make drama out of it. ie not necessarily having a story to tell, but telling it anyway.
Setting up the Japanese kid who took a selfie in the disaster zone as the baddie with a slow mo zoom on him, forcing the tour guide to break the law and then making him out to be the sulky one when he felt uncomfortable with the situation, reading Geiger counters and freaking out about the readings and making that the story to tell. The suicide forest etc etc etc. All came across as cheap trivialisation of complicated and nuanced things, and badly researched too, in that the stories didn't go beyond the surface you get by just showing up and shooting. A half Ar$ed effort, and it shows.
