Despite being labelled as one of the leaders of the bombastic grunge revolution of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Kurt Cobain was also a big fan of pop music, including The Beatles and R.E.M..
If legend is to be believed, Kurt wrote this song in the late 1980s about his then-girlfriend, Tracy Marander, after staying up all night listening to "Meet the Beatles!".
With much reservation, Kurt included this song on Nirvana's first record, "Bleach". He was worried that such a jangly composition would undermine his street cred as a punk/grunge artist.
The unplugged version of this song is slowed down considerably from the original, but still showcases that Kurt was far more artistically diverse than he appeared to be on the surface.
