  • The movie started to take your attention right from the word go, it was all through 'guess what next' kind of a screenplay, but the end wasn't scripted well which was a disappointing.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Kind of inspired by the movie Happy Death Day. But in Happy Death Day, atleast they revealed who the killer was, and what was their intention. In this movie however, there is no such thing.

And what the heck is up with that dumb twist? 3 serial killers? Really? Just because you don't see a twist coming doesn't mean you can just do anything. Those two trained police officers were killed by one man with a machete, and that same man with a machete was killed by Taapsee on a wheelchair because, she's the protagonist.

I have nothing against Taapsee, she did her role very nicely, although the script couldve been better. 6/10
  • For those who need a much needed break from the 'boy saves girl' genre, this is the go to film. Parts of the story are reminiscent of Groundhog Day but the semblance stops when the script takes a dark turn and keeps the viewer gripped and guessing as to what happens next. The BGM is wonderfully woven into each scene; acting, especially of Taapsee Pannu deserves much kudos; editing and direction have been innovative, blending in both supernatural and psychological. In all, a must watch psychological thriller.
  • Plot : A woman must face her fears to survive<br/>It's a typical thriller plot deserving (3/5)

Execution : Impressive. With a neat screenplay, apt bgm, impact making dialogues and an excellent cast performance, this film is an outstanding thriller for sure. (4/5)

Characterisation : I'm going straight with a (5/5) for the characters of the film. The actors have delivered an excellent performance in this intriguing thriller. As audience, I sighed when they sighed. I hold my breath for them to not make sound. The connectivity factor was really a plus with a strong back story too.

Justification : The genre is thriller. Was it justified? Yes. The film has some scenes that may be considered as boring but that's actually a part of character development and that's what makes you feel for the character. It's (4/5).

Appreciation : I'd appreciate this film for it's amazing cast performance (+1) and I really loved the character establishment (+1)

Criticism : A feeling of repetition and unrealistic occurrences arises. (-1.5)

Overall : The film is worth watching, better than Happy Death Day and definitely a must - go for thrill seekers.

    8/10
  • A bold move by Indian cinema to get into a unique psychological thriller but with a weak storyline. Anyone who is a huge fan of this genre like me and have watched several movies can easily predict the movie by then end of first 60-65 minutes.

Game over is very Excellent . First half was nice and second half excellent. Worth to watch movie not for entertainment. Good movie.
  • Warning: Spoilers
    WARNING: *SPOILERS*

Game Over was really surprising. The film is very ambitious and doesn't pull back in terms of its sadistic violence. The movie is a unique and fresh take on the home invasion genre and works great despite the flaws.

The movie follows Swapna, a game developer, who is dealing with PTSD and is the target of a ruthless killer. Will she be able to conquer her fears and survive?

Game Over is directed by Ashwin Saravaran who did an incredible job directing this movie. Saravaran's direction alongside Vasanth's cinematography is a great combination. The movie opens with a beautiful handicam shot showing the POV of the killer as he hunts for one of his victims. The opening scene alone is exceptionally shot and sets the tone for the movie. Throughout the film, there are many points where the shot selection and framing is perfect. The heavy breathing from the killer's perspective added a creepy and disturbing vibe to the atmosphere which made me question whether I was safe or not.

The first half was really fascinating for me as the movie delved deep into Swapna's character. The film took its time trying to make us feel sympathy for Swapna and they executed it well. We care about Swapna and totally understand the dread and anxiety she's going through. What makes it seem even more convincing is Taapsee Pannu's acting. Many shots revolve around her alone and she portrays the emotion effortlessly.

The second half is where I have a few problems. What I liked about it was seeing Swapna figuring out how to kill the murderer. Each time she died, I found it interesting on what new plan she will think of. The sudden reveal that there were actually three killers came as an unexpected shock to me and boosted the intensity. What I didn't understand was how Swapna got three lives. This didn't make sense to me since the other girl only had one life.

Game Over deserves to be watched. The technical aspects are handled extremely well and the originality of the story makes this film different from the rest.
  • If you enjoy "edge of the seat" suspense thrillers, then "Game over" is the perfect movie for you to watch. Everything about the movie is very good,be it the script, acting, editing screenplay, direction, absence of songs,or length. 8/10

Game Over - There's a series of gruesome murders by the countryside. Sapna (Taapsee Pannu), a video game addict who is battling a past and personal demons is in the line of sight, and a soft target.

Game Over is a dark, intelligent and cleverly made thriller with inspirations from Premonition and Happy Death Day. It has an understated suspense building around Sapna's psychological state in the first half that's very slow, torturous and you wonder when the killer will strike, without any sign. The second half splits things wide open and shoots like a rocket - deliciously thrilling and nail biting. Actually director Ashwin Saravanan through the first half is busy depicting Sapna as an emotional wreck and almost a weakling, so that he is able to accentuate her fierce capabilities to fight back and think more intelligently than her assailant. We all have two lives, the second one starts when we realize that we have only one! Read this carefully - PAC MAN is here to play!
  • While watching the movie, I was wondering whole the time when will it start. I was waiting whoke time for something to happen. But it's non existent storyline never moves forward. It's confused between being a video game type film or a horror one. Even at the end, it doesn't answer any of the questions. When it ended, I was scrathing my head thinking what it was.
  • Amazing movie it was ! Specially the last part was so good. The concept is more awesome. Never seen any movie of this kind movie or any concept. Last scene was really the game between life and death ! Must watch !

I had thought this would be decent to watch as there are very small bunch of movies to call them thrillers but it actually crossed my expectations. Its introductory scene was terrific and violent (for some I think) but it has created decent foundation for the rest of the film. Taapsee Pannu as victim of rape has really convincing and as a audience we will really feel sympathy for her. Through her acting she will really win audiences heart and convinces us throughout entire film. Screenplay was excellent and uts the best I had watched in the recent. Throughout the scenes it makes us jump on the seat and gets compelled to the scrren for rest of its to complete.
  • A successful film despite a laziness insolently claimed by the scriptwriters: remake of Happy death plus a cinematographic graft of the ultra-well-known concept of the 3-lives counter freely inspired from the video-game universe. Not to mention three masked psychopaths more mean-looking than friendly with whom we do not really want to hug.

As a synthesis: nice with low expectation. 5/6 of 10

Superb concept Well directed The main concept is always focussed though not directly Having 2 lives like in a video game, dejavu being a partly scientific explanation The one I like to choose is a Supernatural theory The girls ashes symbolizing her soul remaining with Swapna helping her by revealing the future in her dreams in the form of a video game with 3 lives So that she(an addicted gamer) realizes that she should fight in her life like she fights in a video game when she has only 1 life left This is superb attempt considering today's standards of Indian cinema Kudos to the director Superb!!!

Tapsee Pannu grt 👍, dont know abt every aspect of the story but one will love to see the execution..!!

Dealing with post traumatic stress disorder, Sapna (Taapsee Pannu) who has a phobia for darkness, leads a lonely life.

Sick minds can have desire for torture porn, to watch people suffer, beg, plead, run for their life, all thoz things give them a kick.

Sapna is working from home as a gamer. The story tries to draw parallels between her situations, the virtual world and more.

Set in a house throughout like Ram Gopal Verma's cult thriller 'Kaun'.

The film then takes a narrative technique of repeating the same situations as it happens typically in a game.

The events that lead up to the climax are repetitive.

    Taapsee Pannu is sincere.

She has pulled off such fearful characters with conviction in her earlier films as well.

Game Over, the film is worth a watch not only for entertainment but for its new-age cinematic good quality.

This is a movie that you probably won't get. At least I didn't. But in a good way. It will get you on the edge of your seat, and leave you with questions. Like, who where they? Why did they do it? Is it reallity or VR?

Do I need answers? No! Leave it this way! This really was a good movie!
  • I'm really glad to see a plethora of Content based films in India Lately. The perception amongst People has drastically changed. The typical, Same old flicks can't hide behind the curtains anymore. The industry is growing up with Interesting Stories as well as talented creative persons! I Hope to see this trend continues in such motion.

Now let's talk about the film itself, alright?

This is yet another different flavor story out of the South Indian industry! The story might not be the best but it worked out pretty well in the most important parts, The Intro and the Climax!

An attention grabbing Cinematography alongside a Suspensful Screenplay worked wonders here. The soundscore too left it's impression. Although the editing department could have been a little sharper. The lack of Character Developments and Loopholes into this plot made all the fuss that I have complaints about. The Inevitable flaws ruined the huge potential the story had. The makers have concentrated too much on Tapsee Pannu's Character that the other intregal parts have been blatantly ignored. The excellence in the Technical department didn't get the final product it genuinely deserved! When the film finishes you get the feel of "Incompleteness".

But I won't be much nitpicking here cause the film itself wasn't that Bad at all! I enjoyed the usual Great performance from Tapsee. She gelled the plot together. Although I must say it really hurts to see such promising premise fails to deliver on all fronts ; especially when it was highly achievable!
  • Life changing movie. Taapsee Pannu done such a great job
  • Game over opens to handicam mode where we witness a lady being butchered and torched to death by an unknown psychopath. The film then shifts to swapna (Tapsee) who lives alone with her housemaid Kalamma(Vinodini). She keeps glued to her video game all the time and has nyctophobia(fear of darkness). This is the primary setting to the film.Ashwin Saravanan has taken more than enough time to set the tone of the film in the first half but the editing in the second half is somehow able to clear that up. It has been seen in Hollywood several times that famous games are adapted in films ,now for the first time it is being tried in our country. We have been all familiar with Pacman video game which has acted as an important trigger for "Game Over".The film kind of lost believability in the second half which on the other hand is better than the first half (as I have already said). If the film attempts to be known to be a psychological thriller,I am afraid the attempt is half hearted. The film plunges into ridiculous cat and mouse sequences which make the film thrilling to watch but quite absurd to comprehend. The film becomes overly pretentious in some parts which made the film an one time watch. The camerawork for the film works impressively accompanied by the haunting background score.Tapsee Pannu is the only reason for you to watch the film at a stretch. She has been absolutely stunning in her role as a weak and frightened character. The scares, desperations brought by her in her face for the role seems to be authentic and right on spot.Vinodini also shines as her housemaid who has motherly affection towards sapna. The film has an underlying tone involving the violence against women. The film is ambitious but kind of a let down if you wanna have a quality experience.

I am actually taking the time to write this review in the hope that atleast one person who worked on this thing reads it.

This movie follows the theme of "Video Games" and everything in it points towards the fact that absolutely no person in the whole cast has ever played a video game(except Pac man) in their lives! The main protagonist is supposed to be a game designer, serious enough with gaming to get a tattoo of a game controller on her wrist. However she seems to always be playing Pac Man all day. Maybe she has just a Game Cube. Nope. There is a scene where she locks herself in a closet where we get a glimpse of every conceivable gaming console to have ever come out, from the SNES, to the PS4. Yet, she seems to only play Pac Man. And to add salt to injury, she has a GTA V poster on her wall.

Nothing is ever explained in this movie! As to why there is a gang obsessed with decapitating their victims and playing football with the head (yup, that happens). Why did only the protagonist have access to extra lives (do not give us the bullshit that it's because she had the ashes of a brutally decapitated cancer patient who beat cancer 3 times mixed into her tattoo ink [yup, that happens])? How is the "check point" set up? If all that happens was supposed to make the protagonist learn to value her life, why would you cut to credits right after she (while wearing plot armour) manages to kill 3 of her assailants?
  • Dont know how so many people havent yet watched this amazing quirky film with a new concept. Indian veiwers should welcome such new concepts and if you cant, dont complain about those same story masala films that come out every year.

Those saying it is illogical only find all sorts of Hollywood films with aliens ,monsters and flying cars in space to be logical (slow claps for them). GAME OVER is this one rare film that infuses a home invasion with a video game. A handicapped Tapsee's life is a video game where she gets 3 lives to defend herself from a dangerous home invader with deadly intentions. If she fails all 3, she dies.

I reduced 1 star cuz initially it runs a bit slow but the 2nd half where the real game begins is the most heart pumping and adrenaline rush moment.

Highly appreciate these concepts and would love Bollywood makers to make such film (However it is important to know it is actually a Telugu film).
  • Game Over Is A Really Good Pyscological Thriller Which Keeps You at The Edge of Your seat From the 2nd Half. The First Half Of The Film Is For Character Development And To Understand The Premise , And The Second Half Will Not Disappoint You. The Film Is Neither Dragged Too Much Nor Does It Have Any Unnecessary Songs For Distraction. The Screenplay , Acting And Direction of The Movie Was Very Good and The Best Part Of The Movie Was The Background Score , It will Send Chills Down Your Spine. Overall This is a Must Watch.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Maximum reviews are paid. NO thrill no drama no horror and ever no Story . Just time waste.
  • Creativity & uniqueness is never appreciated by us instantly. Things to be lauded - Geniuses/the writers, TAAPSE is born to act(i heard she didn't know the original language), WHOAAA/background score- extremely scary; the whole team because nothing was misplaced in the movie, from a swing to a poster everything was symbolic of the message that they were trying to convey about the story! The Movie has a perfect coherence provided you have the minds to connect the dots & off course there are a lot of loose ends left to the interpretation of the audience- supernatural or psychological or imagination-it could be any of it. Point is, it is not a bed time story told from end to end. It has a deep message and not meant for people seeking a well sorted and plainly told story on the screen! Loved the experience!
  • Hoped for new concept but saw a copy and paset production. Of course, it may be a new thing to the indian cinema. But i almost surprised why the ppl praised this so much.

Actually i thought this has some masterpiece element like Radhika Apte's Phobia, but i dissapponted. Overall this is an engaging movie.
