Back when New Girl first aired in 2011, we as audiences were introduced to Zooey Deschanel’s eccentric teacher Jessica Day, who moved into an apartment loft with three single men, following her bad breakup.
And in the aftermath of her relocation, it was the unexpected events and the roommates/dysfunctional family dynamics that turned the sitcom into a major hit.

So now, after almost a decade, as former co-stars, Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield had a mini-reunion at this year’s SAG Awards, it became a major nostalgic moment for the New Girl fans. One thing that TLC fans know about Whitney Way Thore is that the My Big Fat Fabulous Life (Mbffl) star isn’t known for her decorum or subtle behavior. So, when she messed about with a ball, some critics claimed that she acted in a bratty way by giving the middle finger.
Losing Weight But Not Gaining Class?
For critics, the reality TV star could shed enough weight to look like Miss Twiggy, but she might not improve her personality. After all, she seems way too much of an exhibitionist for many viewers. Perhaps she remains so out there because of her midlife crisis when she turned 40.
Let’s not get it wrong, she does, indeed, have many fans who love her. However, some TLC viewers wish she would age gracefully. Then again, Whitney’s personality probably became the main drawcard and the network seems to love controversial cast members.

Netflix offers a mix of quality and worst shows, but their batting average is great despite some duds. Even cancelled shows have some value on the platform, with major series worth watching. Some shows, like Fubar and Hoops, fall short of expectations despite star power and potential.
While there are quality TV series on the streamer, it's also easy to find some of the worst shows on Netflix. With the increasing number of originals, the platform has more opportunities to release duds, but Netflix has a great batting average. The streaming giant originally drew subscribers by making several hit shows available and Netflix boss Ted Sarandos took credit for the continued popularity of Friends and The Office (via Vanity Fair). Netflix now creates more of its exclusive content.

Netflix's cancelation of animated TV shows, such as The Midnight Gospel and Q-Force, highlights the reality that even successful shows may be axed after only one or two seasons, leaving important stories and representation incomplete. The portrayal of adult friendships, anxiety, and universal struggles in shows like Tuca & Bertie resonates with many viewers, and the abrupt cancelation of this show indicates that Netflix may have let go of an important lesson too soon. Inside Job provides an entertaining exploration of human thought and conflict through its focus on conspiracy theories, and the cancelation of a second season means that the unresolved plot points and potential for personal growth in a cynical environment will not be explored further.
Although Netflix's canceled shows range in genre, the animated TV shows seem to see the boot increasingly more frequently, some earlier than they should. After a 200,000 subscriber drop in 2022, Netflix tightened its purse strings,...

Netflix cancels many animated shows due to poor ratings and financial concerns, which is problematic for fans who want to see the story continue. The cancelation of animated shows limits creativity and removes the freedom that animation offers as an art form, hindering future storytelling potential. Other successful animated shows, like Steven Universe, demonstrate how Netflix is missing the opportunity to build fandoms and potential franchises by not giving shows enough time to resonate with audiences.
Netflix cancels a lot of shows in general, but the reason why so many of the streamer's animated series get canceled is worth exploring since it's actually a problematic trend. Poor ratings or financially taxing projects can often lead to cancelations, whether it's after one season on Netflix or before the show has even premiered. Animation seems to get the ax more often, though, and there's a specific reason for that.

Critics and audiences alike can agree humanity is living in the Golden Age of television. During the 2010s, Netflix set a high bar with acclaimed series like Stranger Things and Orange Is The New Black, all while redefining adult animation with shows like Bojack Horseman and Big Mouth. However, since then, Netflix has seen a decrease in quality.
Many of the series produced within the past ten years have elevated television to a peak fine dining experience. Still, with the massive amount of content Netflix streams, there are some duds and head-scratchers that have earned low scores on IMDb.
Updated on August 14th 2023, by Andrea Sandoval: While Netflix became famous by creating some of the most interesting and talked-about TV shows in media, lately, their content has significantly lost quality. We updated this list to include shows like Blockbuster and Devil in Ohio, which are among the lowest-rated shows on this network.

The New Girl cast is full of hugely talented actors bringing its quirky, lovable characters to life. The series revolves around Jess Day, a bubbly teacher who moves into a loft in Los Angeles with three wacky roommates after catching her boyfriend cheating on her. Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, New Girl ran for seven seasons and was a hit with both critics and audiences. The New Girl cast was given the freedom to improvise lines, and the spontaneity of the ad-libbed dialogue went a long way toward making the characters feel real and catching the attention of a mainstream audience.
Some characters in New Girl are grounded and relatable, like Jess and her on-and-off love interest Nick Miller, while others are zany comedic personalities, like Schmidt, the secret main character of New Girl, and Outside Dave. In every case, the producers found the perfect actor to play each part. The...

Beginning today, subscribers will be able to access a total of five games within its Android app -- two of which are based on Netflix's hit Stranger Things franchise, plus three original titles. They are: Stranger Things: 1984 (created by game studio BonusXP), Stranger Things 3: The Game (BonusXP), Shooting Hoops (courtesy of Vancouver design studio Frosty Pop), Card Blast (from Amuzo & Rogue Games), and Teeter Up (Frosty Pop).

Sony Pictures has sold “The Mitchells vs. The Machines,” an original animated family film from producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, to Netflix.
At one point, Sony changed the name from “The Mitchells vs. The Machines” to “Connected,” but it has reverted back to its original title. Sony had planned to release the film theatrically before Netflix acquired worldwide rights. The deal, which excludes China, was reportedly hammered out for more than $100 million. Neither company has confirmed the production budget, but price tags for animated films generally range anywhere from $50 million to $100 million.
Mike Rianda wrote and directed the film with Jeff Rowe. “The Mitchells vs. The Machines” is about an everyday family’s struggle to relate with each other while technology rises up around the world. The film centers on Katie (voiced by Abbi Jacobson), a creative type who gets accepted into her dream film school. Before she begins college,...

The third episode of Netflix’s adult animated comedy “Hoops” opens with a horse funeral. Zipper, a 20-year-old stallion beloved by his owner, Shannon (voiced by Natasha Leggero), passed away after a full, presumably rich life at his owner’s Kentucky farm, and Shannon is delivering an uplifting eulogy to an uncharacteristically large gathering of mourners. The only problem is that every time she says something nice about her horse, two bumbling ranch hands do something awful to its remains. First, they drop Zipper’s massive body off the side of their truck. One leg “breaks off,” his teeth are knocked out, and, when she finally sends them away so she can finish the funeral in peace, they run Zipper over, making his eyes bulge out like that alien-looking stress ball.

Today marks the beginning of the weekend, and there’s nothing most of us would rather do than put the week behind us and watch a movie or TV series. Thankfully, as always, Netflix has got you covered with plenty to catch up on in August. You can binge the third and final season of The Rain, have a Jurassic Park marathon with the entire trilogy, or dive into some of the quirkier movies on the service, such as the mind-bending Being John Malkovich and underrated indie romance Safety Not Guaranteed.
If that’s not enough for you, though, then rest assured that today marks a big content drop just in time for weekend binging, and there are at least a handful of highly-anticipated additions you’ll want to take a look at.

Coronavirus has halted production on many projects in Hollywood, but not animation. Animated series have been largely unaffected by shutdowns, with animators and voice artists alike being able to perform their duties from home. Though Netflix claims that their 2020 slate will go ahead uninhibited, it’s fair to assume many other networks and streaming services will be turning toward animated projects to fill programing schedules. Many animated pilots that would have had an uphill battle to be picked up by a network may just find themselves in luck.

There is, pointedly, not very much to “Hoops.” Netflix’s new comedy, from creator Ben Hoffman and executive producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, has about as much ambition and patience as its lackadaisical, hotheaded main character. Ben (executive producer Jake Johnson) is an abrasive Kentucky high school basketball coach whose only real goals in life are to win some games, make his ex-wife (Natasha Leggero) regret their separation and piss off his successful father (Rob Riggle). That he’s only occasionally successful when it comes to alienating his dad rarely bothers him; Ben’s a textbook Teflon man, and tomorrow’s another day. For the most part, both he and the show itself are perfectly happy to stumble through their toxic misadventures and encourage everyone they meet to indulge their basest instincts.
