That Ice Ticket

This comedy was produced and directed by Angela Murray Gibson, who was an Assistant Director to Maurice Tourneur on PRIDE OF THE CLAN and advised him on Scottish culture. She then studied cinematography at Columbia and returned home.... to North Dakota, where she, her sister and her mother started their own film company. Although Wikipedia indicates other films, this is the only one I could find by name.

Our heroine -- who looks a little like Zasu Pitts -- is expecting a gentleman caller. Meanwhile, her younger brother fishes out a Smallpox sign, tacks it over the sign indicating the house wants ice delivered, calls the beau he prefers for his sister and waits.

I didn't find this a particularly funny movie. Not only is it repetitious -- at one point the brother explains to his sister what has been going on, meaning the audience has to look at what they've just seen -- but the version I saw was saddled with a film score that seems generic and inclined to tell the audience how funny the movie is. This movie doesn't measure up to that score. On his best day, Chaplin couldn't live up to that score.
