  • Adding sanity to the USA, brining in a ton of love warmth and openness, cutting through age, race like a knife.

    What we need.
  • Ok I love Wanda Sykes. I've always thought she's been hilarious. Started her stand up IMMEDIATELY talking about trump. A few here & they are funny don't get me wrong. I don't get personally offended but I am getting bored of them. Wanda herself isn't boring. I found myself laughing in the beginning but then after a little while I was like "okay will this consist of anything else?". I turn to comedy to kind of get away from the everyday issues. That's what the news is for. I still love Wanda & I'm a little disappointed that so much of her special was politically driven. The comedy in that is getting beaten to death & only so many jokes about it can remain funny.
  • I almost didn't watch because I've never been a big fan of Wanda's comedy style, however, I'm glad I changed my mind - this was good humor!; and if you watch, you'll figure out who Esther is...
  • Now, I am of course familiar with Wanda Sykes from movies, but oddly enough then I actually never stumbled upon her doing stand-up comedy before now in 2022, as I happened to come across the 2019 stand-up comedy special "Wanda Sykes: Not Normal" on Netflix. Being familiar with her work in movies, then I opted to check out how she was as a stand-up comedian.

And I have to say that I was actually adequately entertained by "Wanda Sykes: Not Normal", as her material was pretty funny. There were some good laughs throughout the course of the show, and her jokes were well-delivered and had good punchlines.

Wanda Sykes definitely has a good on-stage charisma and demands the spotlight.

I was genuinely entertained by "Wanda Sykes: Not Normal", and it is a stand-up comedy special that I can warmly recommend you sit down to watch, especially if you are unfamiliar with Wanda Sykes in a stand-up role.

My rating of "Wanda Sykes: Not Normal" lands on a six out of ten stars.
  • I watch a lot of stand-up, but this one from the lovable, razor-sharp mind of Wanda Sykes had me laughing uncontrollably from beginning to end. She's a comic genius, and this is the first "10" rating I've given to anything.
  • Not Normal definitely has plenty of quality moments that make it worth watching for fans who, like me, cannot get enough Wanda Sykes. That said, this isn't her best special and for me had some of the fewest laugh-out-loud moments. Although I did like her take on the surrealist politics of 2019, she picks low-hanging fruit to riff on and sometimes seems to be pulling jokes out of left field just to fill up the slot. I can't help feeling the opportunity to do a special came first and the jokes came later, whereas it normally feels like Wanda only does a special when she feels she has enough material.
  • What a smart, self-confident, bold woman! She's at the top of her game.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Wanda made me laugh before she even opened her mouth. Literally she can look at the camera and tell you a joke that is not only funny, but true. As a white male she made me uncomfortable, but again it was true. Then she flipped it, by telling her own story and that uncomfortable turned to "human" so I began to laugh at the sheer ridiculous points that are "our lives." She even turned back to reflect on, the we get old, but there is someone older than you and... Thank you Wanda and thank you Netflix for giving her the stage.
  • Brilliant and hilarious. We were all laughing out loud. Wanda has more courage and truth in her pinkie than the Trumpeters giving her one star have head to toe. A treasure.
  • There were a few funny bits in this special. For instance, the trailer was hilarious but that's where it stopped being funny. Trump jokes, evil Russia etc. Stuff that has been done to death since 2016.
  • Wanda Sykes has a long career I just discovered on IMDB, not a fan of standup comedy but took a chance on her Netflix show and wasn't disappointed. I stand on the fence when it comes to politics but in my opinion if you keep an open mind we all can agree she is funny.
  • I did not know Wanda before (I am from Germany), but I love surprises - and I loved every minute of the show. I had so much fun!! :) One of the best comedians I have watched on Netflix until now. Thank you, wonderful Wanda!
  • This is hilarious ! Heads up don't watch it if you are a die hard trump fan ahaha

She is funny and hilarious. The stuff she said about trump is on point. Very true and funny! I can't wait to see her in person soon.

I love Wanda in all of her movies, so I gave this a try. Some of the bits are funny, but it's the same anti trump stuff thats been said over and over. Nothing new. Making fun of trump is low hanging fruit but people still eat it up. I prefer comedy that is different and this was definitely the norm. I can't stand trump so you can blame my score on that. The material just wasn't that funny.

This was laugh-out-loud funny for us tonight. I have always enjoyed Sykes as an actress but I do not recall ever seeing her do strictly stand-up. She was fabulous, with insights and takes on menopause and racism that had us laughing steadily. I am now looking forward to more specials from her. I just saw her last night in The Jeffersons Live special and she was excellent as "Weezie" Jefferson, as well. She is a superbly talented woman.
  • I really enjoyed this particular set because I have had many of the thoughts she was expressing, but finding the humor in it was beyond me until I bathed in Wanda's humor! The tragedy of it all is that there are thousands on thousands of people who wade through the daily crap that people who are not in this group pretty much ignore. This causes frustration at the daily reoccurrences. Watching Wanda and being able to laugh about it has a healing effect. Recommended for anyone that feels what I am saying.

Wanda Sykes is the finest comedian in America!

When she puts on a one woman show you can always bet it's a winner.

She see's the greater truth in life and because we know it's true, it's funny.
  • She has been doing stand-up for thirty years and never have I seen a terrible show. She's indeed one of the best comedians out there, and I am not talking only between women, but in general. Physical comedy, well written scripts, perfect delivery: she has it all! And this new jokes feel fresh and funny, I really loved this Netflix special!
  • I'll start off kinda like Wanda did and mention that I didn't vote for Trump. I don't care for him but this special had his name used probably around 50 or so times. Absolutely none of the jokes about him funny if they were it was a joke we've heard 10 times in the mainstream media. So 1/3 is overused lame Trump Jokes 1/3 is her making jokes about how black people are victims or are superior to white people and 1/3 is some pretty ok stuff about her family and health problems. If that's your thing you'll enjoy it. I honestly regret wasting my time.
  • Funny as hell and real. This white girl loved every minute of Wanda's perspective of today and what's not normal. And she's right, STOP watching the Bachelor!
  • Okay so i am a straight white man who has really no opinion about politics and have always had a soft spot for Wanda shes dirty unpoliticly correct and honest and i love it however after a good 40 minutes shes just not that funny i dont know if its her older age or what but shes simply not the Wanda i love and know however if your looking for a nice evening this should fit the bill okay

This got me in the mood to start my work week. It's always best to start the week with laughter.
  • Not Normal by Wanda Sykes is really good comedy. I laughed out loud through the whole thing. She is not only funny, but incredibly insightful on the topic of racism. She handles it with such expert delicacy, we can't help but fall in love with her and laugh at our own foibles. What a gorgeous women inside and out. I named my belly OLGA, in honor of Esther.
  • Politically driven mediocre comedy has become way too common these days
