It's officially official: According to a new press release from Paramount, the third season of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" will debut on Paramount+ on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The season will debut with two episodes at once, and new episodes will then drop on a weekly basis thereafter until September 11. The season, like the first two in the series, will run 10 episodes.

(CBS/Screenshot)

At the time, it was quality over quantity.

We didn’t have streaming services like Netflix and Peacock.

We just had good old satellite and cable TV.

Let’s revisit some of our favorite sci-fi series from the 80s.

Star Trek: The Next Generation – 1987 (CBS/Screenshot)

Star Trek: The Next Generation was the third series in the Star Trek franchise. It debuted in 1987 and quickly became a hit with viewers.

Does Loungefly need to release a Star Trek collection?
Image
When it comes to allowing people to show off their fandoms in style, Loungefly has us covered. Unless of course you are a Star Trek fan.

While Loungefly has no problem making some of the cutest mini backpacks, crossbodies and wallets for fandoms such as Disney, Star Wars, Harry Potter and even Garfield, sadly Star Trek is being left out in the cold. And we certainly did a search to see if there had ever been a Loungefly x Star Trek collaboration, with little success. We found a bag from Her Universe that could have almost been a Loungefly piece, but didn't seem to be a legit bag from the brand.

As a fan of Loungefly, I love being able to snag pieces that let me show off my love of everything from Stitch to Snoopy and even books (they legitimately have bags with book themes and they still don't...

Chase Masterson Preferred Being A Recurring Actor On Star Trek For A Good Reason
Image
"Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" only had eight central cast members listed as its regulars in the opening credits, but by the end of its seventh and final season, it had no fewer than 30 members in its ensemble. Like on "The Simpsons," all of the supporting players on "Deep Space Nine" expanded as the series went on, with many of them getting story arcs of their own. Actors like Andrew J. Robinson, Penny Johnson Jerald, Marc Alaimo, Max Grodénchik, Aron Eisenberg, Louise Fletcher, and Jeffrey Combs may have only technically played recurring characters, but they were just as important to the sweeping narrative of "Deep Space Nine" as the main cast.

Case in point: Chase Masterson played a character named Leeta, a Bajoran woman who worked in Quark's Bar. Leeta was a dabo girl, hired to spin a Ferengi roulette wheel and look pretty. She was first introduced in...

George Takei's Star Trek Legacy Was Almost Ruined By A John Wayne Movie
Image
Prior to landing the gig playing helmsman Hikaru Sulu on "Star Trek," actor George Takei landed a few dubbing jobs that led to him providing the English-language voices for Japanese films like "Rodan" and "Godzilla Raids Again." His first credited on-scree film role was for the 1958 adventure flick "Ice Palace" with Richard Burton. Throughout the early 1960s, he continued to play small roles in large Hollywood film productions, although his career began to thrive on television, with Takei landing guest spots on some of the hottest shows of the day. Indeed, he wound up being on episodes of "Perry Mason," "The Twilight Zone," "My Three Sons," "Death Valley Days," and "I Spy."

"Star Trek" was a three-year supporting gig for Takei, and it initially wasn't a hugely successful show, ending in 1969. After that, Takei merely turned back to other one-shot appearances on shows like "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" and "Ironside.

The State of the Race

The Outstanding Animated Program category serves as a great example of what the platonic ideal of Emmys voting is. It does not shy away from acknowledging when stalwart favorites remain good, but those who vote for the category have also been quick to recognize the different animation projects that drive the medium forward.

For example, the most recent...

Wil Wheaton Says His Star Trek: Tng Castmates Are Still His 'Family'
Image
For a generation of fans, Wil Wheaton will always be synonymous with his Star Trek: The Next Generationcharacter Wesley Crusher. Especially since he's reprized the role in Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Prodigy.

However, he has the closest relationship with his former Next Generation castmates, more than 30 years after the series ended. During an appearance on the Inside of You Podcast, Wheaton talked about how hisco-stars still play a big role in his life and acted as parental figures to him at a young age. "There were moments where I wanted to call them to tell them about things," he said. "That is a supernatural impulse. Everyone has parents. Every child has a mom and a dad. And you want to share that with them. And I've just accepted that when I have that impulse, I text my Star Trek family."

Before officially announcing his Storytime Podcast,...

4 strange Star Trek toys you won’t believe exist!
Image
Since the premiere of Star Trek in 1966, collectibles based on the characters and vehicles have remained consistently popular with fans. While some increased in value over the years and still remain in high demand, others didn’t perform as well in the collectible market and sank into obscurity. From your parents’ attic to the convention merchandise floor, let’s take a look at 4 weird (but wonderful) Star Trek toys you won’t believe exist!

1. Spud-date, 2011: The Mr. Potato Head toys

One of the most popular and oldest toy lines that remains in production, Mr. Potato Head first hit toy shelves in 1952 and if you didn’t own one, you probably played with a friend’s or in daycare. A variety of Mr. Potato Head toys appeared on store shelves over the years, and in 2011, Hasbro introduced Star Trek Mr. Potato Heads that came in sets of 2. Spock, Mirror Spock,...

Every Star Trek Character Played By Brent Spiner, Explained
Image
Data, the android played by Brent Spiner, was beloved by the writers of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Apart from Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart), Data had the most number of episodes devoted to him. Data was emotionless but aspired to be human, giving him a unique perspective on the human condition. He would ask fundamental queries like "What is humor?" or "Describe feeling angry," allowing the Trekkies watching to formulate answers in their minds. Data's questions allowed viewers to become more articulate about the human experience, which is good, just in case we meet an android in person.

Spiner was also such a versatile actor that he was frequently asked to play other characters. Data became possessed by an evil alien criminal in the episode "Power Play", for instance. In the episode "A Fistful of Datas", an Old West holodeck program began reproducing duplicates of Data, all played by Spiner.

Why Uhura Actress Nichelle Nichols Declined A Cameo In Star Trek: Voyager
Image
The 1990s were a truly magical time to be a "Star Trek" fan. Not only were the films from the original series wrapping up but there were three "Star Trek" shows airing almost concurrently: "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," and "Star Trek: Voyager." There were some great moments for overlap between the various shows, creating a shared universe that grew richer with each new addition. Not only that, but the franchise's use of time travel has made it pretty easy for crossover between all eras, like Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) crossing paths with Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) in the somewhat audacious film "Star Trek: Generations."

Because of this there was plenty of opportunity for stars to cameo in other shows once their own series had ended, a time-honored "Star Trek" tradition that continues to this day and has been especially embraced by "Star Trek: Lower Decks,...

Hacks Season 4 Review — Not the Strongest Season, but Still Plenty to Enjoy
Image
The fourth season of Hacks is hard to watch. For one, the two main characters are at each other’s throats for most of it. The conflict is so excessive and prolonged that it becomes grating—not to mention not all that funny. It may be interesting, but what happened to that famed sardonic humor?

However, this critically acclaimed and award-winning series proves that the season isn’t just about the laughs. No, Hacks is about the journey that brings these women back together. Our own 9 to 5, under the hot Vegas heat, neon lights, and biting after-midnight humor, that’s all its own.

The new season follows legendary comedian and QVC queen Deborah Vance (Watchmen’s Jean Smart) and her longtime writer Ava Daniels (Julia’s Hannah Einbinder) at the top of their professions. The catch? They had to blackmail and betray each other to get there.

Here's why we need another series like Star Trek: Lower Decks
Image
The beauty of Star Trek has long been in its ability to inspire and bring people together. Since the very beginning, it has been a vehicle for inclusion and diversity in a way that was at times controversial, but also groundbreaking. So when Star Trek: Lower Decks premiered on Paramount Plus, there were two ways this could have gone: very bad or very good.

Luckily for all of us, Lower Decks was a hit. There was something so refreshing about this animated series as it focused more on the rarely seen crew members. These are the crew members that keep these massive space shifts working, but that we either rarely see, never get to know or are cannon fodder for the movies and TV shows that came before it.

One of the biggest reasons that Lower Decks really worked was because it did not take itself too seriously. We had serious moments,...

The best way to watch every 'Star Trek' series and movie is right here
Image
From Kirk to Burnham, every era of Trek lives on Paramount+.

Growing up, there was only one show my parents would let me stay up to watch with them from the 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. timeslot. That show was “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” And so began my love affair with “Star Trek.” Captain Picard, Data, Worf — all of them felt like regulars in our living room. The show didn’t just have cool ships and alien planets; it tackled big ideas and never dumbed anything down. And Patrick Stewart? He made every speech feel like it actually mattered. Even now, the show holds up. If you’re a “Star Trek” fan and want to “boldly go where no one has gone before,” there’s really only one streamer you need – Paramount+. Here’s why it’s the best streamer for Star Trek fans.

Uhura Actor Knows Which Genre Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Should Tackle Next
Image
It's time for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to boldly go further into comedy territory.

Per Popverse, Uhura actor Celia Rose Gooding appeared at Emerald City Comic Con's Strange New Worlds panel, where they talked about the show's love of genre pastiche and what genre should be parodied in future seasons. Specifically, Gooding wanted to see Strange New Worlds tackle "Reality. Like, very Abbott Elementary, St. Denis Medical, The Office, just something like that." When the moderator asked if that meant applying The Office's signature mockumentary-style format to an episode's cinematography, they responded, "Sure."

Among Strange New World's most acclaimed episodes last season included a crossover with Star Trek:Lower Decks -- utilizing both animated sequences and casting Lower Decks' actors as their characters -- and a musical storyline where an "improbability field" causes the USS Enterprise crew to break into song and dance.

While the latter won't be returning...

One Of 2022's Ghostface Stars Addresses Potential Scream 7 Return: "I Will Keep My Mouth Closed"
Image
Jack Quaid addresses the possibility of reprising his role in the highly anticipated Scream 7. With Scream veterans Kevin Williamson and Guy Busick at the helm, the seventh installment of the horror franchise is set for a harrowing return with Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott once again leading the charge against the enduring murders and mystery of the iconic masked killer Ghostface. Quaid's character, Richie Kirsch, was unveiled as one of the Ghostface killers in the 2022 reboot. Scream 7 is set to arrive in theaters on February 27, 2026.

In a recent interview with Et Online, Quaid responded to questions about his potential involvement in Scream 7. Quaid’s Ghostface reveal in Scream was an interesting twist for the slasher franchise, largely due to his established reputation as an awkward, yet charming actor in roles like The Boys and Star Trek: Lower Decks. His latest role in Companion continues to weaponize his "nice guy" persona.

Ranking all 5 seasons of Star Trek: Lower Decks from worst to best
Image
Since its conclusion in December of 2024, I have found myself thinking about Star Trek: Lower Decks and then remembering, Oh, wait…It’s over now. I still can’t quite believe it. After all, despite being an animated sitcom, it was consistently truer to the look and feel of the Tng/DS9/Voyager era of Star Trek than any of the live-action productions of the past 8 years.

Unfortunately, Lower Decks is over. While that means we may never get more of our Lower Deckers in the same form again, it also means we can now look back upon the series as a whole. With that—and a few months’ distance from the series finale—I’m finally ready to try ranking the seasons of Lower Decks, starting from the worst (or at least the one I consider the weakest).

"Second Contact" – The premiere episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks Season...

Jonathan Frakes Knows Why Fans Love Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
Image
In 2017, "Star Trek" returned to the small screen after a 12-year hiatus with the debut of "Star Trek: Discovery," a big-budget show with slicker production values than the franchise had ever seen. It debuted on Paramount+ (still called CBS All Access in 2017), and it was to be the first of many new "Star Trek" shows that the streaming service would debut over the next few years. It was followed by "Short Treks," "Star Trek: Picard," "Star Trek: Lower Decks," and "Star Trek: Prodigy." The original U.S.S. Enterprise would also make a guest appearance in the second season of "Discovery," inspiring an Enterprise-set spinoff called "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds." Paramount+ also recently debuted the TV movie "Star Trek: Section 31."

Despite the glut of "Star Trek," however, fans weren't always on board. Some old-school Trekkies didn't like the new violent tone of "Discovery," as it didn't quite match the dry,...

Rlje Films has picked up the North American rights to Neighborhood Watch starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jack Quaid from The Boys, and Malin Akerman. The crime thriller, which reunites Watchmen‘s Morgan (“Edward Blake / Comedian”) and Ackerman (“Laurie Jupiter / Silk Spectre II”), will open on April 25, 2025.

Rlje Films offers this synopsis of the film: “In Neighborhood Watch, Simon (Quaid), a young man grappling with mental illness, becomes convinced that he has witnessed an abduction. When he reports it to the police and they refuse to believe him, he reluctantly seeks the help of his neighbor Ed (Morgan), a jaded, retired security guard with his own troubled past. ‘Novocaine’ Review: Jack Quaid Is A Shot In The Arm For Solid But Uneven Comedic Thriller
Image
The template for a Jack Quaid character is clear: balance him on the precipice between aggressiveness and passivity before splattering him with blood. Between Scream, Companion, The Boys and even his voice work on Star Trek: Lower Decks, Quaid has asserted himself as a sweet, quippy punching bag, a Buster Keaton for white guys who may or may not be an incel in waiting.

Novocaine seems especially crafted with Quaid’s ongoing screen presence in mind. It is nothing if not a continuation of a theme, both for Quaid and for the John Wick-ification of action films. Like Wick, Nathan Caine (Quaid) is an unassuming, socially awkward shut-in who possesses a unique set of dormant skills that get unleashed by unpredictable (and exceptionally violent) external forces. Except, in this instance, our hero’s skills take the form of an exceedingly rare disease and not so much the ability to fight.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 kicks off production with new photo, but season 3 still doesn’t have a release date
Image
The official Star Trek site announced today that production is now underway on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4. A first-look image from the set, featuring Ethan Peck (Spock), Celia Rose Gooding (Uhura), and Anson Mount (Christopher Pike), was also shared. You can check that out below.

I’m thrilled that another season of Strange New Worlds is underway, but we still don’t have a release date for the third season! All we know is that it will debut on Paramount+ sometime this year. The first season premiered in May, and the second dropped in June, so we can likely expect a summer release for this one as well. Hopefully, we’ll get a firm date for that soon. Strange New Worlds has been my favourite of the new Trek shows. It’s taken some big swings, with a musical episode and a crossover with the animated Lower Decks series.

Star Trek: Khan news creates questions about the series
Image
Now that it’s been announced that Naveen Andrews will voice Khan Noonien Singh in the long-gestating Star Trek: Khan audio series, it’s time to delve a bit deeper into the news and the press release distributed to the media. There are numerous bits to explore.

First, we like the casting of Andrews. He’s a solid, experienced, and Emmy-nominated actor, best known for Lost, and has a distinctive voice. Though he was born in London, England, his parents are from India. Khan is Indian.

CBS Studios also revealed that Wrenn Schmidt will voice Marla McGivers, another character very familiar to fans of “Space Seed,” the episode upon which Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was built. Schmidt recently played Margo Madison on For All Mankind and co-starred on the series Person of Interest, which Kelvin Timeline filmmaker J.J. Abrams-produced. She also co-starred with Brent Spiner, Star...

One year later, remembering Star Trek: Discovery actor Kenneth Mitchell
Image
February 24 marked the first anniversary of Star Trek: Discovery actor Kenneth Mitchell’s death following five years of living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Als), commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Mitchell, post-diagnosis, made the most of every moment as a husband, father, friend, and actor, and it’s well worth taking a look back at what he accomplished during his 49 years on Earth.

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Mitchell initially gained traction as a model before shifting to acting. He amassed nearly 50 film and television credits before his death. Among those credits were the movies Miracle and Captain Marvel, recurring or series regular roles on Odyssey 5, Jericho, Ghost Whisperer, Switched at Birth, The Astronaut Wives Club, Frequency, Nancy Drew, and The Old Man, as well as numerous guest shots. He was, of course, best known for portraying the Klingon characters Kol, Kol-Sha, and Tenavik, as well as Aurellio,...

Colm Meaney receives Irish Lifetime Achievement Award
Image
Colm Meaney, who played Miles O’Brien on both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, was honored on February 14 with the Irish Academy Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to him by the Irish Film & Television Academy. Among those paying tribute to the actor was his longtime friend and Star Trek co-star and director, Jonathan Frakes.

During his time on Star Trek, especially during his DS9 era with the franchise, Meaney took time off to appear in a wide range of features in America and abroad. His seemingly endless list of credits, which saw him portray good guys and bad guys, and tackle both supporting roles and leads, includes The Dead, Die Hard 2, The Commitments, Under Siege, The Last of the Mohicans, Con Air, The Van, Hell on Wheels (in which he co-starred with future Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' lead Anson Mount), Tolkien, Gangs of London,...

Which main characters from the prior series have yet to return since the Nu Trek Era started?
Image
Starting in 2017 with Star Trek: Discovery, fans were ushered into the 'Nu Trek' era of Star Trek. It's an era that started with the aforementioned Discovery series and has gone through Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The era is far from done, but those are the key series that have made up this new era.

During the Nu Trek Era, one of the things that have become commonplace is the reliance (or overreliance) on past characters and actors from previous shows. Every show has either over-relied on previous characters or previous talents to bolster their show. It started with Spock and later Christopher Pike and Una Chin-Riley in Discovery (among others). Lately, we've seen the likes of Chakotay and Harry Kim pop up in Star Trek: Prodigy and Star Trek: Lower Decks' respectively.

In fact, we've seen a large...

Back to the Future, Star Trek & Lord of the Rings Stars Unite in Epic Photo
Image
Arguably, three of the most popular franchises in recent (or past or future) memory are Back to the Future, The Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek, and the stars of all three recently appeared at a Vancouver convention. Christopher Lloyd, John Rhys-Davies, and William Shatner all appeared at the recent Fan Expo Vancouver and posed for an iconic photo together.

Lloyd, who played Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy, posted an epic photo to the social media site X that featured himself, Star Trek’s Captain James T. Kirk (Shatner), and The Lord of the Rings trilogy’s Gimli (Davies). Lloyd captioned the picture: “The final frontier, the future, or middle-earth…your choice.”

What Happened To The Cast Of The 1994 Wyatt Earp Movie?
Image
"Tombstone," from 1993, is the Wyatt Earp movie most people remember from the '90s, but it's hardly the only star-studded spectacle about the legendary marshal. A year later, "Wyatt Earp" came out, reuniting actor Kevin Costner with filmmaker Lawrence Kasdan, the director who first made him a charismatic cowboy in 1985's "Silverado." A love of the old west clearly stuck with Costner, who made his directorial debut with "Dances With Wolves," an epic about a Union Army Lieutenant (Costner) who goes native. If you haven't seen it, you've probably at least heard the plot of "Avatar" compared (unfavorably) to it. It won seven Oscars, including Best Picture and another for Costner as Best Director.

Covering more of Earp's life than just the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral, "Wyatt Earp" came loaded with actors both familiar and new, as one would expect of an old Hollywood epic biopic. It...

Star Trek Introduced Its Seven of Nine Replacement 2 Years Ago (& Most Fans Missed It)
Image
Seven of Nine remains one of the most beloved characters in the Star Trekfranchise. A former Borg drone rescued by the crew of Star Trek: Voyager, she quickly became a stand-in for square pegs of all varieties, as well as the franchise's unofficial ambassador for ex-Borg. Her return in Star Trek: Picard was met with thunderous applause from the Star Trek faithful, and fans have pushed for her continued presence in the franchise as it moves forward. It's an impressive legacy, and in many ways, no other single character can replace her.

Ironically, Star Trek: Lower Decks may have quietly found a similar figure to fill in the gap while fans wait for her possible return. The saga of Badgey -- a homicidal hologram who becomes the crew's greatest foe -- produced a benign duplicate named Goodgey, who remained a part of the Cerritos crew for the rest of the series.

5 James Bond Spin-Offs That Could Happen After The Amazon Deal
Image
It feels sacrilegious to imagine the development of any James Bond film without ambassadors Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli at the helm, but as of today, the future of James Bond has been placed solely within the oversight of Amazon MGM Studios. There are a whole number of consequences that come with this decision. It ensures that there will be another Bond film down the line, sooner than later probably, but at the same time, it will be one whose creative decisions will likely be made based on algorithmic trends instead of being filtered through the interests and taste of people who have shepherded these movies for decades. What's even worse is now that 007 is fully under Amazon's control, that means there's no more holdouts on the prospects of greenlighting spin-offs galore.

Amazon has technically tested the waters already with "007: Road to a Million," a reality adventure...

Star Trek Quietly Paid Off a Forgotten First Contact Tease 26 Years Later
Image
Among its other assets, Star Trek: Lower Decks serves as a kind of impromptu franchise archaeologist. It diligently sifts through the six-odd decades of previous Star Trek efforts in search of new material. In many cases, that means mocking some of the goofier moments and concepts that the franchise has quietly tried to forget about, but it also means spinning new details out of previously forgotten bits of minutiae. In the process, it has enriched the canon considerably while still providing plenty of laughs. That includes a subtle Easter egg pulled from a very obscure corner of the 1996 theatrical feature Star Trek: First Contact.

The film depicts humanity's first faster-than-light ship, thanks to scientist Zephram Cochrane, who builds in the devastating wake of World War III. It develops the character considerably from his brief origins in Star Trek: The Original Series, as well as presenting his role in Star Trek history more thoroughly.

With six decades of stories creating the building blocks of the universe's canon, Star Trekis surprisingly cohesive. From the thematic elements in the disparate films and series to the sci-fi specifics that captivate diehard fans, it gets more right than wrong. However, one Star Trek: The Next Generation story left a plot hole open for three decades until a throwaway line in Lower Decks closed it.

In the first two phases of Star Trek, the storytelling wasn't serialized, so some ideas introduced in episodes would be forgotten. However, because the universe kept going from series to series, writers could pick up those ideas and run with them. Newer shows would pick up...

Star Trek: What Does Iss Stand For?
Image
The "Star Trek" franchise has been around in one form or another since 1966, and that means that the canon is incredibly expansive. It's impossible to know everything there is to know about "Star Trek," and many fans have one specialty or another. Some fans are really big on story and can name the big moments of every episode, while others are character obsessives who can basically give detailed biographies of their favorite "Star Trek" characters on the fly. And then there are the ship fans, who know everything there is to know about the various space-faring vessels in the franchise -- and they have a whole heck of a lot to know.

There is a tremendous amount of thought and detail put into the ships on "Star Trek," all founded on four explicit design rules set forth by creator Gene Roddenberry, and that attention to detail also carries over into things like the ship's names.

'Big Mouth' Animation Studio to Adapt Image's Horror Comic 'Nights'
Image
The animation company behind Big Mouthis setting out to make another sort of coming-of-age television series, but this time with a decidedly horrific bent. The company, Titmouse, is developing an animated series based on Image Comics' Nights, an ongoing comic currently releasing its second installment of adolescence, supernatural style.

In a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, it is said that the comic book's writer and artist — Wyatt Kennedy and Luigi Formisano, respectively — will be involved in the animation adaptation, and always envisioned the series as such rather than, say, something more live-action in nature. Titmouse hopes to keep and evoke the animation style of the comic's late '90s and early 2000s vibes, while also blending anime and indie influences as well. For those who may not be familiar, Titmouse is the home of such animated series as Legend of Vox Machina, The Venture Bros., Star Trek: Lower Decks,...

3 ideas Star Trek can use to bounce back from Star Trek: Section 31
Image
Time waits for no one, not even the powerhouse franchise that is Star Trek. The franchise continues to roll along, even after the failure of Star Trek: Section 31. The failed made-for-streaming film disappointed across the board, severely impacting future plans for other films of its type. Made-for-streaming films however may be the future of the franchise, whether fans want them or not.

That means that Star Trek needs to try again, and again if they have to. Having an avenue that can generate buzz and interest and continue stories that diehard Star Trek fans want to see is imperative for the further growth and development of the franchise. However, That only happens if we can do this on a relatively tight budget.

It seems unlikely that a Star Trek theatrical film is going to have a budget of less than $300 million. That's probably a bit low at this point,...

‘Nights’ Animated Series in the Works Based on Image Horror Comic (Exclusive)
Image
Nights is hoping to light up the animation world.

An animated series based on the Image Comics horror title is in development from Titmouse, the company known for the Netflix animated series Big Mouth. Nights writer Wyatt Kennedy and artis Luigi Formisano will be involved in the adaptation.

Nights launched last year, and is a supernatural coming-of-age story taking place in a 2003 in which supernatural creatures exist alongside humans, and America is made up of just 31 states. It launched with a 12-issue arc called “Season One.”

Titmouse creative director Alexei Bochenek called Nights a “generational experience in the making.”

“Reading it reminds me of when I used to stay up late watching Flcl at midnight on Toonami, having my mind blown not just by how dynamic it was, but by how seen it made me feel, a mirror to my whole self, good and bad, dreams and fears. If you know you know,...

Master Replicas’ new licensing agreement includes current and past Paramount Trek shows like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Prodigy and the new Star Trek: Section 31 Paramount+ film, as well as the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy show.

On the original "Star Trek," the computers on the U.S.S. Enterprise were operated by a series of switches, dials, knobs, and buttons, many of them unlabeled. For the most part, the switches' functions remained obscure to viewers. It seemed that a skilled Starfleet officer, while sitting on the bridge, would simply have to know which switches activated what system just to perform even the most basic tasks on board a starship. Perhaps attentive Trekkies may have been able to look closely at the "Star Trek" actors and discern what buttons they were pushing when Captain Kirk (William Shatner) gave an order to go to warp, but said actors may admit that they more or less pushed buttons at random.

On "Star Trek: The Next Generation," the computer panels became far sleeker and more sophisticated. The knobs and dials were replaced by flat,...

Every Version Of The Borg Queen On Star Trek, Ranked
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

When the Borg were first introduced in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Q Who", they were ineffable, mysterious, and terrifying. They were a race of cyborgs that were bound by a single machine consciousness, existing only to grow and expand. They did this by stealing resources from others. When the Borg encountered a starship, they would scan it, find technology they didn't have, carve it up, and absorb its pieces into their own cube-shaped craft. To shore up their numbers, they would kidnap humanoid species as "assimilate" them. That is: implant their bodies with tubes and computers and force them to serve as mindless robot drones.

The Borg returned throughout "Next Generation," and each time were described as having a collective consciousness. It wouldn't be until "Star Trek: First Contact" in 1996 that the Borg would be likened to a beehive.
