  • Acting was okay. Chemistry was lukewarm. But I liked how it stayed true mostly to the novel. Cute twists on characters to bring it to modern day. I wish they would have done something less predictable with the styling. See Crazy Rich Asians. Can somebody invest some real money to make an all back cast Pride and Prejudice? I would love to see that.
  • Well done and clever riff on Pride and Prejudice. Incorporates the black community in 2019 very authentically, I think. Although it mostly matches scene for scene, with its own interpretation, of course, there were some differences which were more welcome then not. Welcome because an exact copy would just be boring. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett had a happy marriage, and Jane was a widow with a young son, for example. Updates include Lizzy being a community activist, Darcy running for public office, Bingley being a professional golfer, Mr. Bennett is the pastor of an urban church. The Georgiana character was cut. Very enjoyable.

Love the cast...always so great to see Jackée...and there were some fun laugh-out-loud moments. I would give it more than 6 stars if it weren't for the watered-down plot...everyone's nice, no bad or even silly men here. The best thing about Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice is the way it highlights issues faced by women of the time (many of which persist to this day...being judged on appearance, falling prey to the unscrupulous, etc., etc., etc.) A wonderful idea for a film and enjoyable for a tv movie...but PLEASE someone make a big-screen version with all the trials and travails of the original, lots more Atlanta humor, and costumes, sets and landscapes to rival 2005's Pride & Prejudice featuring Keira Knightley. I'll be waiting :)
  • First in for most I want to say the movie has a good storyline but your editing is bad when Jane's ex-boyfriend came back to get her it was daytime in the house and when Lizzie went outside to see if will was out there it was nighttime and clearly in the back you can see that it was daytime so I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who noticed that and you guys did not give Reginae Carter enough lines and she and her mom and aunt and father parade this all on Instagram that it was her movie and she barely got any lines

It was a pretty good movie I didn't really mind the music
  • Omg! This might have been a good movie had it not been for the music in almost EVERY scene! So unnecessary!
  • The movie is a romantic comedy that is one of my favorites. I recommend it for anyone, it's a really good movie to watch for passing time or just to enjoy with friends or family, get your snacks ready ;) be prepared for fun
  • Warning: Spoilers
I watched all the versions of Pride and Prejudice and honestly I didn't like the changes made from original book. I mean I liked some of them, like Lizzie being an activist and Jane being a widow, but from the beginning Darcy is like "a good one" so Lizzie's looks like the one overjudging him. Other changes just make the necessary problems simple like Lydia's storyline (with Wickham being a nice guy!) or Charlotte marrying Collins because she really liked him.. I mean even he seems kinda ok and I didn't understand why everyone (Lizzie) hated him so much. I think the movie would me much more entertaining if the original characters would stay the same. Also because of the similar/same hairstyles if was a bit difficult to distinguish male characters and some of the female ones.

    :(
Well this is time wasted. Time I can never get back. This move was baaad. Bad story, bad acting, zero chemistry all around. Even if it wasn't based on the JA book it would have been horrid to go trough. Poor Jane Austen.

Something more than your stereotypical film in the 2000s that's not about the racial divide, violence or constant sex and swapping partners or the newly found lgbtqia community! Whew! What a relief to know that some film makers and cast actually want to show more of topics related to neighborhood restoration or finding love in a new sort of old fashioned way!!!

Not great. As a script supervisor, a lot of things bothered me about continuity but, I'll leave that alone for now. This was a cute movie. Funny, good cast, not badly written.
  • I think the show is good, but the best part is seeing the more experienced (might as while say legendary) Black Actresses on the television screen making it to what it do bring there skill makes me want to see more.
  • This is a difficult watch for a deeply-rooted Pride and Prejudice 1995 fan, who also happens to be a black woman.

In 1.5 hours, it may be nearly impossible to manage subtle character development from pride to humility, prejudice to justice. Even after getting that done, the writers must still allow for the preservation of appropriate pride. That's a difficult balance to strike. It was missed here.

Many nuanced story elements were also lost. For example, costumes are an important part of filmmaking, while these characters seemed to wear whatever they personally liked. There was no identifiable cultural standard being clearly displayed through costuming.

There were also misrepresentations of Austen's work that don't qualify as simple adjustments for uniqueness, such as with social class. The Bennet family was represented as lower middle class, if not outright poor. Austen's work suggests that the Bennets were upper middle class, while Bingley would have been top 5% and Darcy top 1%. It may be necessary to preserve original social class to prevent the Bennet girls from being detrimentally pitied.

Also, step parenting and pregnancy themes are probably to be avoided when remaking Austen. Such elements go beyond preference for choosing mates and introduce nearly insurmountable dealbreakers. It risks momentarily jolting the audience out of the story.

Worst of all, I perceived zero chemistry anywhere. Romantic and other declarations can be made without words, communicated through body language, facial expressions, and brilliant directing. Not here.

Pride and Prejudice Atlanta was untrue to the original intent of characters, extremely rushed, and...just rushed. It didn't work for me, but I'm thankful that is was clean!!! I'm also thankful that this filmmaker tried something very difficult. You're appreciated.

I thought the movie was very well done. The acting is 95.5% on point. Of course the veteran actors did their thing, but the newcomers held their own. Great adaptation. Victoria Rowell is aging gorgeously. And of course Jackèe Harry and Reginald VelJohnson are always dynamic. Good looking cast all around and very well balanced acting.
  • So glad this was idea was created and brought to life! Read the book in middle school and loved to see it visually in a way that relates to my own identity!

    Amazing
This Movie At It's Content Was Amazing. The Actors Were Freaking Amazing. I'd Love To See A Part Two & Three. Even A TV Series I Loved The Story Line
