  • It doesn't reinvent the wheel of the franchise, but this is yet another great and polished entry in the legendary franchise. If you like fighting games I don't see how you could dislike this.
  • I love the Mortal Kombat games, I don't give a crap about the story, it's fun knocking people's heads off.

And this game is no different, the moves and fatalities are unbelievable.

My only complaint is one of the final battles is way too hard, I can't beat it.

    Still love the game though.
  • Warning: Spoilers
The general fighting system matches that of all Mortal Kombat Games and is enjoyable as graphics have greatly improved over the years. Fatalities are on top form as always. Gameplay generally is really great.

The Storyline is abit over the top? Almost like it tries to be too clever for its own good? I understand them wanting to adjust various timelines to keep the franchise from ending but it makes us wonder what future there is for various characters we've grown to love over the years?

Realistic graphics, addition of popular characters, more gruesome Wallpaper-making fatalities, and excellent fights. Its complexity and loads of different things you can do makes it truly amazing. Negative reviews in this aspect can't stand a little difficulty. Story is not as good as the previous ones, but not as bad as people make it. For most fans and newcomers, it should be a delight to play!!!
  • When Mortal Kombat first came out in 1992, it was controversial at the time yet became a game changer in an era of fighting games that began with Street Fighter II and has evolved to include Tekken and others from around the world. Nowadays you can play MK online and beat friends.
  • Best Mortal Kombat in the series by far. Real life characters and great story mode. The Krypt is huge compared with previous games. Amazing stuff! !!

I've been an MK fan ever since the original arcade! This game truly honors the legacy of these characters and the gameplay is absolutely incredible! There's so much you can do! All I can say is... FINALLY!
  • Warning: Spoilers
So like i say in the title this game is almost amazing. I'll start with the story. The story i really did love, could of been longer but they length it was was still fine, love how it continues on from MKX (as expected) but i was happily surprised to find out that it wasn't just going to be VS Kitana and Liu Kang Like how MKX ended, Was great to see the new characters, Even better to see some MK9 ones back!! Sad to see other characters gone, but all in all i really did enjoy the story, there's really nothing about it i didn't like. Gameplay: The Gameplay is great as always, like a few of the changes made, such as Offensive and Defensive metter bar, I don't know how i feel about the X-rays being changed, i mean i like that its only at the end and you can only do 1 but i feel that the fact that X-rays got split into "Fatal Blow" and "Crushing Blows" kinda takes away some of its new ages galorey that 9 and X had with its greyed out background and i though the reason why it was called and X-Ray was cause it showed more than just the outer layer of skin and yeah it still dose that but "Crushing blow?" it just doesn't seem right. I don't mind that its a slower game and tbh i didn't really notice at first till i realize i could 'run'. but that it for that gameplay, still love it. Customisation: When playing MKX i thought back to armageddon and though how amazing would it be if mk11 brought back Kreate-a-fighter, It almost did! started seeing trailers for mk11 and i couldn't help but wonder , just trying to imagine all the ways you could do it in this day 'n' age, what i got wasn't what i hoped for but still great!! the variations on mkx were the best idea to keep things fresh and the fact that you can make your own is amazing, not being able to just have every move it the roaster was a good move and the gear just make it that much better. Now i do love the idea of skins but... now hear me out on this one... alot of them i feel are kinda 'off' like for example that fact that Sub-Zero can wear Red... and Jade wearing blue i mean it is cool and what now but i just feel that all that random coloured skins could of been better, once again use sub-zero for example instead of the red skins and orange skins that could've used a skin from a previous game X,9, Decp, mk3, same with scorpion, i just feel that those skin slots could have been better used on different skins not just a pallet swap, but that's just me . On the note of customising your character i didn't think that unlocking all the gear pieces and skins etc wasn't gonna be so.. slow? for lack of a different word, but being in the krypt is great! kinda reminds me of shaolin monks lol DLC: God damn i really they dont do they same thing that did with X with all the other characters, i mean i think i saw somewhere that they were popular idk but that fact that (Alien,Predator,Jason & LeatherFace) were all in X was i mean yeah 9 had freddy and/or kratos but 4? Especially when other characters in the story were not playable such as Rain, Fujin, Sereena, Baraka and Frost, normal smoke, night wolf etc, speaking of which once again cyrax and sektor? not playable, idk if its cause the just gonna use them as dlc instead being better and put new people in that you haven't seen yet or just forget about them like mkx,but i just think actual mk character deserve to be in the roster more than others, But yeah i hope if they do to a none MK character i do hope it's only 1 or two, Lastly Character Design: I do Like a lot of the new models, but i feel a lot of there outfits were better in MKX and even some models like Kano etc, most of they faces and expressions are just amazing! but the clothing, and what not like i get MKX was a lot darker (which is one of the things i love about it) but still could of made it a bit less.. i don't know, cheery.. lol prime example (Kano,-Normal Kitana,Jax and a few more. They did the same thing with zelda twilight princess, dark seems more detailed the next up was skyward sword and it went back to looking cartoony, just seems abit like a step backwards i guess but don't get me wrong i still love it all haha,

I know it must not seem like it but all in all i really to love the new installment looking forward to see what else is to come, and just while i here just incase sees this MK 12 Would be that much more Spectacular if 1 you brought back kreate a fighter and 2 for it to have along the same size roster as armageddon, like everyone that's been in the series, i know those are 2 very big things that probably wouldn't be in the same game since, you'd wanna make sure you had a lot to customize and the added every character would just be a crazy big game but just thought to mention haha Mortal kombat has been my favourite fighter game series since god know when lol

and if some actually did read all this well damn, Thanks for your patience :)
  • This game is the best fighting game I've ever played ! It's like they took everything that was great in MKx with some of the features from Imjustice 2 and made this amazing game. I loved everything: the story, the characters, the online, the customization, ... Everything !

Ignore the bad reviews. I don't understand how "fans" of the series can play the other games then say this one suck. I have played every mortals kombat btw. The story alone is enough reason to buy the game, its incredibly epic with an extremely satisfying ending. The fatalities are filled with gore as always but a lot more creative than MK10. This game to me has been better than the last 2 Mortal Kombats although I loved 9 this one takes the cake in my eyes. But if anything this game just makes those 2 better because of how well it ties them all together. If you truly love mortal kombat then this game will fulfill your every need for vicious epic conquest.
  • A great disappoint when compared to MK9 and MKX. I enjoyed the story fair enough (good but not great), but everything else is a bit lack-luster. The combat is too different from the other games to feel natural to a older player. They also intoduce a million different currencies that add a far too complex kyot that makes it confusing to unlock anything. simply too much going on to be enjoyable I prefer the more streamlined and focused a design f the previous games. Sad to have waited years to get Spawn in a modern nighting game and to finally get it I'm a game I don't like playing. Should have been in Injustice 2...
  • Fantastic story mode with great cinematics, Towers of Time mode constantly keeps new challenges coming, and the Krypt will keep you busy if you want to unlock everything. Wonderful addition to the series.
  • I enjoyed the game and love the violent style but i found the game pretty slow in the way he did combo and multiples punch. It lack of dynamics clearly. I enjoyed the finisher also but for me it lack of something in the gameplay it lack of dynamics.

So disappointed the roster sucks and the put zero effort into making the old fans happy while giving new fans something cool the attacks to me feel sluggish for some reasons and this game right now is below my usual mortal kombat standards it sucks bad don't buy just stick with the old games for example 25 characters are you kidding me right now 25 really ? Now take a look at a mortal kombat game that's more than 10 years old mortal kombat armageddon the roster is like 65 or something are you kidding me your saying that a game from ten years ago and have 60+ characters and a modern game only has 25 pathetic dude.
  • The roster is just an atrocious I can only play as 9 characters and I have to pay alot of money to buy all the characters on my Xbox Store and the graphics were like they appeared in a PS2 I thought that it was gonna be good but its not.
  • This is an amazing game it's incredible as a Mortal Kombat fan I was ecstatic when I got my hands on it and DLC is just starting so you already know I'm going to main Spawn!!! (And Ash)

    4 out of 5 stars.

Mortal Kombat 11 delivers another fun fighting game continuing the storyline from the last game. I love how the story is laid out with the characters. Without going into detail with Kronika. Who is a villain and alternating timelines. The story and cutscenes are awesome. I love the graphics and detail. The game play is fun and the combos are easier to manage with this game. The controls are easy. I played this game on the ps4. I did find some characters that fight the same people repetitive.

Overall, Mortal Kombat 11 is fun. Bloody. And awesome with its storytelling.
  • Warning: Spoilers
It was 2015 I was around 22 21 and mortal kombat 10 came on the ps4 First time playing it on any console I loved it now 26 and Loving it more I never grew up with The MK series but I feel like I have with 10th and the 11th one Amazing graphics Gore galore 17+ stuff the amount of detail of characters and gore it has and the terminator is in it as well and other memorable characters I'm actually amazed that Peter weller voiced The Robocop fighter wow you get to verse Peter himself you will love this game as I said this Game is a masterpiece
  • So think Mortal Kombat 11 on the Nintendo Switch is great. There are a few problems about the game. When I go into towers it sometimes lags The game may lag a few times but overall I think the Nintendo Switch version is great. The graphics may not look the best but I think they're alright. Overall I think it's a good game
  • The new Mortal Kombat game is heading our way next month and I have to say that I am really excited for it. In prep, I have been playing the recent games and I have just played Mortal Kombat 11 and completed enough to review it. Though, I haven't played the expansion Aftermath as I will be doing a separate review for it. So after completing the story and most of the side activities here is my review for Mortal Kombat 11. The premise of the game sees 2 years after the defeat of Shinnok, Raiden has been putting the offence onto the realms that oppose Earthrealm. But this draws the ire of the Titan Kronika and sees kombatants from different eras clashing to protect their future.

Characters After my complaints about Mortal Kombat X it is great to see Liu Kang be pushed to the forefront here. Bought in as a younger version of the character, I really liked seeing Earthrealms champion be given the spotlight again and playing as him was enjoyable and seeing his development is one of the highlights of the game.

Kitana was another character who was misused in MK X but by showcasing her younger version of the character it really works. She is seen as this leader and is way more then a damsel which I think she has been portrayed before. Her whole story is up there for most interesting part of the story.

After the events of MKX Sub Zero and Scorpion are now allies and watching them work together and have this friendship is one of my favourite parts of the game. Their characters have been developed over the last few games and it is cool to see.

But the problem is that pretty much the rest of the cast aren't given much to work with or are misused.

Cassie Cage was the main character in the last game, but after the first chapter, I feel like she is given little to do and the stuff she is given is pretty dull.

They even recast Sonya Blade as UFC Legend Ronda Rousey and she is terrible in this role. She just doesn't fit the character and all I can hear is the person and not the character they are supposed to be playing. The actress from the previous game was good and it would have kept for a consistent tone amongst the character.

Kronika herself is the villain and she is a terrible villain. Her motivations are all over the place and the voice performance by the excellent Jennifer Hale is not enough to save it. She doesn't really do anything and she continues a trend of weaker villains.

Certain characters get wasted to such as Shao Khan and Erron Black and I wish the game would do better with characters like these.

Story The story is not good here. There are some really promising moments but I just feel like those moments are kind of wasted by decisions they make later on in the story. The most frustrating thing is that the promise that we were going to see Evil Raiden is totally ignored and forgotten about, it all happens off screen and that is incredibly frustrating. The whole game relies on time travel and it breaks its own rules throughout, things make no sense and becomes confusing. Overall, this story is really poor and I hope the next game is written way better then this one.

Side Content Similar to previous Mortal Kombat games, this game has many towers that are fun and challenging in their own ways. There are modifiers added to some of these to add even more challenge to the game. There is also the towers of time, these are updated regularly which is impressive considering the game was released 4 years ago, they are towers with themes and gives gear for specific characters. The krypt is back as an interactive game to get unlockables and it is a fun little game that I am glad they added. Plenty to do here and that is before you get to online which I am not very good at but there is plenty to do there.

Gameplay The gameplay has been developing over the past few games and it is great here. The special moves feel so appropriate for the characters. The gameplay flows really nicely and each character feels unique and that makes it really enjoyable. It was changed that X-Rays are gone and replace by Fatal Blows, these could only be accessed when your character is in the final 25% of your health. At first I didn't like this, but I grew to see the benefits and how it can clearly swing a match. Fatalities are still here and this is the most brutal it has ever been, they are so creative and violent that it sets out this game to others.

Graphics Whether you like the game or not, there is no doubt that this game is beautiful. The graphics are incredible, the character designs are top notch and there are so many options for different costumes. Every level looks great and the arenas have their own nuances and actions going on in the background. The cutscenes look great, even if the content isn't particularly good which raises it slightly higher due to how many cutscenes there are.

Overall Overall, Mortal Kombat 11 is a good game. The gameplay is fantastic and it is a fun game. Skip, the story mode and just play the side content and you will be in for a great time.
  • This is the funnest game I have ever played MK IS THE BEST FRANCHISE EVER!!!!!
  • Warning: Spoilers
    Mega shortened review.

    • Pros:

    Usual good combat stuff

Crypts have a good concept on paper.

I really like that we play and progress unlocking new skins

    More customization the better.

    • Cons:

    Broken grind unlocking the costumes

    Annoying microtransactions

A skin that you unlock in game is on the store anyway -_- Really NR?

Traditional attractive outfits for female characters have been removed and reworked. The male fighters got everything and more so NR is just dumbing down the game and removing variation in custome design.

    Bad optimization.

Developer comments on criticism haven't helped either. Calling us non-fans, no matter if I own almost all MK games. So thats great.

Rage-quit issues. This is an old one but its still annoying. Stop ending the match if a player leaves. Just let the fighter remain in game without player control. Its annoying to have matches end sporadically because of quitters. Come on, NR. We complained about this in For Honor with its atrocious P2P connectivity.

Summary: More cons than pros. Real shame because I love MK but the developer is changing and becoming more hostile towards its fans. The removal of traditional outfits for the women fighters especially sucks as a mega fan. Hurting continuity in game design as well as film creative direction is something I never like seeing.

Furthermore. Why not just have both? I mean we play to unlock new skins. So removing variation and additional customization just hurts the games replay value.

"sigh" Alas. 3 out of 10. Very underwhelming game with too many issues surrounding it.

NR, please stop releasing your games in broken conditions, stop pushing bad MTX into your game and quit removing costumes for female fighters as well as male if you suddenly begin doing that. Add to the game. Stop taking away from it.

If Johnny Cage isn't able to get his iconic shirt off skin in the next MK game I dont know if I'll either be more mad or disappointed.

Please do better. Sincerely an MK & fighter fan for decades.
  • Mortal Kombat 11 is definitely one of the best Mortal Kombat games but it's not perfect in any way the story mode is all right but it's not better than 9 but the fighting is perfection .The only big problem the game has is the grinding with the gear and the towers but overall is definitely one of the best games of 2019 and one of the best fighting games
