  • As a comic, I grew up watching as much comedy as possible and one of those comics was The Amazing Jonathan. He made me laugh, and wowed me with the crazy nature of his magic act - yet I never knew anything that went on behind the scenes. This documentary gives an incredible glimpse into the mind and mentality of Jonathan. Incredibly heartfelt, poignant, touching, and laugh-out-loud funny, "Always Amazing," leaves you wanting more amazingness. I immediately went down a rabbit-hole of Facebook videos of this guy and it's all well-worth your time.

Always Amazing is a remarkable and ultimately inspirational documentary. It was a joy to watch the genuine affection people held for Jonathan and how incredibly talented he is. What really stood out for me was the celebration of the friendship between Jonathan and Joel and the love and support they had for each other. If you want to watch a documentary that leaves you feeling so glad you spent the time watching, this is definitely such a documentary.
  • I am a long-time fan of Amazing Johnathan. I've seen perform at comedy clubs and in Vegas for 20 years. I was so happy to see John getting the documentary treatment. He deserves it, not just for defying the odds when he was given one year to live, but also for being on of the funniest people ever. This documentary is handled deftly by first-time director comedian Steve Byrne and I'm looking forward to seeing more of his work behind the camera. The last time I saw a documentary featuring a protégé kid from Australia coming to America to work with his hero -- it didn't turn out so well (Leaving Neverland).
  • I had no idea what the Amazing Johnathan had been up to recently or through in life for that matter, but this documentary puts everything into perspective. Great documentary with some very well placed and much necessary laughs.
  • I am a writer and have spent a lot of time studying comedy as a craft (not a good enough delivery for stage work). Jonathan was one of the comics I saw growing up that always intrigued me, along with Hicks, Kinison, Bill Nelson, and Jon Pinette, because he had such a unique style and direction with his work.

Fellow Pittsburgher Steve Byrne was obviously watching the same genius I was, and he brings that to film in a personal way. The story behind Amazing Jonathan only makes me love him more. I hope that I can meet him soon to tell him how much he inspires me...then and now, and that I feel like I know him now in a way I didn't before.

Incredible film about an incredible human being. A legend.

This is a great documentary specially for a new comer film maker. Steve did a great job with the cinematography and the story was well placed and developed. Here is hoping there's more to come.
