Entertaining for sure...for me. An adult. However, having a 9 year old daughter, I expected not to have to filter the word a$$ out of a Disney show, nor think about not only explaining 2nd base...or having it displayed with a bra on a pillow (luckily my daughter missed that portion of the episode) and we shut down the show for her just after. Bra's and periods are subject matters we have discussed, as we are a pretty open family, but she IS still 9... and while she knows and has heard adult language (as it exists in the world) it is...ADULT language. I had been excited for the woman empowerment aspect as this was supposed to follow the young girl to her journey to presidency...and I personally will watch it, but disappointed that my daughter will not get to enjoy it.
If I think back to when I was in middle school and how we acted and how dramatic things seemed, this show is accurate in how middle schoolers are. I think the show is cute.
When I see people rate this low just based on the fact that the "inappropriate" part of this show is the fact that girls the age where they normally get their period, mention and talk about their period (because believe me, when I was in middle school, that was actually a thing), it makes no sense. If you think about the demographic for the viewers of this show, which I would say probably includes girls who get what they are depicting in the show, it makes sense that they'd mention that. There's no reason to hide something that all girls go through and can actually have something in common with characters in the show. They're depicting what it's like to be a teen girl and just because it's a Disney show, doesn't mean it should be all rainbows and flowers and be ignorant and tells girls that it's still something to be ashamed of and having a period is "inappropriate", when it's just life.
Disney shows have never shyed away from tough topics. Lizzie McGuire and Hannah Montana both talked about bras. Lizzie also talked about eating disorders. That's So Raven tackled racism. Smart Guy took on child predators. And so on, and so forth. Why are people only mad when it comes to talking about being gay or having your period?
I lol'd at the person who said this show is entitled because a middle schooler wants to be president? Glad they tell their children to aim low??
That aside, this show has a pretty cute premise and competing writing. It's pretty accurate to today's middle schooler and just that knowledge alone should be enough to say this isn't Barney for 2 year olds. General age of 8+ I'd say.
