Min søsters børn
(1966)

When children are worst!
Uncle Eric is a great child psychologist and has even written a book about raising children, there is only one problem - he is single and has never been with children before!

So when his sister and husband goes away on holiday, he volunteers to take care of their 6 children - and of course try to keep hold of them following closely the rules of his book! And of course it all goes wrong, because children in reality, and certainly not his sisters, doesn't behave like in his book. But in time he learns, and in the end even the children comes to like him.

This is a great family movie, children of all ages will enjoy it - laugh of the mistakes uncle Eric does when trying to keep hold of the children and all the naughty things the children do because they know that their uncle doesn't know a thing about children.

Sommer i Tyrol
(1964)

Danish musical in Austria
This wonderful Danish musical takes place in the hills of Austria. At a little hotel called "The White Horse" life goes on a usual, till a very special guest arrives. Sigismund Süssheimer is a womaniser and this creates a few problems, especially because the head waiter is in love with the woman who owns the hotel, and she only has eyes for Mr. Süssheimer...but life goes on, guests come and go, romances comes and goes and it is all accompanied by lots of great songs.

Frøken Nitouche
(1963)

Dirch at his best
This is surely a Danish classic movie. A must-see for Dirch Passer fans. Strangely enough Dirch hated to sing, but still he acted in quite a lot of movies where he had to show off his singing talents, and this is one of them.

The main story is all about a nun, Charlotte Borg, who is about to get married against her will, and a young soldier who likes his life as it is and his parents who also have arranged a marriage for him...Dirch is the organist at the convent and he is responsible for getting the nun to the marriage in Copenhagen...but there is a couple of things he hasn't told, so of course it all ends in confusion. It tells the story of young people in the 1880's and it tells it with laughter and music. It puts you in a happy mood, and it is really a feel good movie. A real family movie.

Brink!
(1998)

Rivalry between skaters
Brink is a fantastic skater, but only skates for the fun of it - which I think is a great mentality to have! That is how all hobbies should be. But of course it is hard when money is in the picture. But in the end he finds out what REAL friends are, and what kind of friend he is himself to them. A great movie, and if you know something about skating, you will love it. Great tricks are seen throughout the movie!

Training Day
(2001)

Disappointment
I had not heard much of this movie but the storyline, so my expectations weren't that high. But I have to say that I was really disappointed! About 70% of the movie all you saw was Denzel and Ethan sitting in the car talking, not much of an action movie. I am not kidding when I say the guy next to me was actually sleeping most of the time, and I was close to nodding off too. Ethan was not very believable as "the tough cop" in the end, but Denzel was quite good. The film would have been better without the loads of talking, I think people got the hang of the problem within the first 10 minutes of the movie. No need for all that talking. If they cut it all out the film would last about 15 minutes! A lot of "stars" was in it, but they didn't really have much to give or say...the director could have made it more interesting if he had focused more on the environment than just the "problem".

Een pige og 39 sømænd
(1965)

Could it get any more Danish
What happens when a single blonde girl comes on board a ship with only male personel? She falls in love. It's obvious from the start what will happen in the end, but that's not the whole story - first the Danish crew beats up the Swedish and later the police, and still it shows the special Danish humor and personality very clearly. An absolutely extraordinary typical Danish movie.

Soldaterkammerater
(1958)

Oldie, but great
This is one of the best Danish movies ever made. It stars some of the best Danish actors of the century - and the story it tells is known to most people. The story of some soldier buddies who don't really like soldier life, get "kicked" around by their superior officer but still enjoy life to the fullest getting the most out of their time in the army. That is just what the army is about - and this movie shows it in a really great and funny way - how to appreciate army life even though it can be quite tough at times.
