Kundun is a fair movie, but unfortunately not more than that. Even the very talked-about cinematography is exciting, with some exceptional moments.
The topic is never explored with more detail (the life of the Dalai Lama), and for sure we stay with the feeling that something is missing.
It's a movie that should be seen, but more as an appetizer for learning more about a great man.

I still don't know what to think about films like this, which are not more than a play that happens to be filmed. Very good screenplay, good acting, specially Posey and amazingly, Spelling.Predictive ending. Good analysis about feeling comfortable with your own, even though it's a very weird own.
It's very hard to compare this movie with American Werewolf in London. There, the first-time seen transformation effects, the plot and the acting were very satisfying, and the movie was a classic of contemporary horror. Here, lots of loose ends in the screenplay and incredibly poor acting made this film enjoyable only for the see-all-terror-movies buffs. The movie shows well the trend of using CG (computer graphics) in every key scene, which really seems artificial and boring after some shots.
